Book A Hotel

Which is the best Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Italy? We have already reviewed the best Marriott hotels in Europe. Now, we look specifically at Italy.

The best Marriott hotels in Italy are:

All these hotels are either Marriott hotels or a subsidiary of Marriott. There are no Ritz-Carlton hotels in Italy yet, although Ritz-Carlton on Lake Como is due to open in 2026. There are plenty of Ritz-Carlton hotels in Europe, just not in Italy.

On the Amalfi Coast, which includes Capri, Salerno, and clifftop Sorrento, there is no Ritz-Carlton or no decent Marriott at all. Puglia lacks a good Marriott, although a Four Seasons is set to open in Puglia soon.

Other destinations that you might consider visiting in Italy include Sicily. The San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel is outrageously good and is one of the best Four Seasons in the world. We have reviewed the best Marriott in Sicily but none of the Marriott hotels in Sicily are particularly good so we would recommend trying the Four Seasons or Belmond.

Remember to book any luxury hotels via our luxury travel concierge for extra free benefits. You also get all your usual Marriott Bonvoy points and perks when you book via our concierge.

1. Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort

In number one position as the best Marriott hotel in Italy is Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort. We love this hotel as it is a hidden gem that you might not have considered. If you are looking for the best Marriott in Tuscany, we think this is it!

Hidden in Maremma, in a quiet corner of Southern Tuscany. Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort is a 5-star slice of paradise worth seeking out. Its striking metropolitan design is home to the on-site Argentario Golf Club, the only ‘PGA National Italy’ 18-hole golf course, and a huge wellness center and two Tuscan restaurants.

The resort lies 90 minutes from Rome’s Fiumicino airport, surrounded by cork-oak woods and centuries-old olive trees, and is set on sprawling greens. There are 73 guest rooms and suites, as well as luxury villas to rent or purchase for your very own slice of the Tuscan lifestyle. The décor of the property is minimalist with a glamorous feel, and all rooms have heavenly terraces with incredible golf course views. Suites are worth the upgrade; they add sitting areas, and some also include whirlpool tubs. Plus, the décor in the Suites is divine and Instagram-worthy!

The aesthetically pleasing golf course is designed by former European Tour player Baldovino Dassù and architect David Mezzacane and features 18 panoramic holes for a total of 6,218 meters and par 71.

When you’re not golfing, you can relax in the outdoor pools or book a treatment at the vast 2,700m² Espace Wellness Center, which includes a hi-tech fitness center and heated indoor swimming pool if you’re feeling active. There are also two tennis courts, two padel courst, a football field, and jogging trails. The hotel embraces its location at mealtimes; with exquisite “farm-to-table” dining experiences, highlighted by organic produce sourced from the resort’s own vegetable garden; handpicked local Maremma farms, and seasonal delights from across Italy. For those foodies amongst us, culinary delights peak at the Dama Dama Restaurant, where innovative renditions of regional flavors and traditions take center stage. For a more informal, yet authentic experience, The Club House offers comforting, homestyle favourites including mouth-watering tortelli al ragù and sizeable cheeseburgers!

2. Bvlgari Milan

In Milan, even if you don’t stay there, you must have a drink in the bar of the gorgeous Bvlgari Hotel Milan which we have reviewed in detail, and which is one of the best Marriott hotels in Milan.

This hotel has a fantastic garden alfresco area where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and evening drinks and bites surrounded by greenery and the most stylish Italians. The food is excellent, the place is like stepping into an edition of Vogue and the stand alone baths by the window are a great place to relax after a hard day of shopping.

Talking of shopping, Milan is one of the best places to buy a Richard Mille watch or any designer gear for that matter, as you can claim the VAT back at the airport when you leave.

There’s also Excelsior Hotel Gallia, A Luxury Collection Hotel, in Milan, which is a subsidiary of Marriott and worth considering as it’s deeply stylish. Or you could book into the Four Seasons Milan that we loved when we stayed last year.

3. Bvlgari Hotel Roma

If you plan to stay in Rome, the excellent Bvlgari Hotel Roma and The Rome EDITION are probably the best Marriott hotels in Rome. I don’t need to tell you the historical signifcance of Rome, but it’s important to choose a great hotel as the crowds and heat can be overwhelming.

Until recently there was no stand out hotel in Rome. There’s no Four Seasons in Rome and there’s no Ritz-Carlton in Rome either. But now there’s a Bvlgari in Rome and as long as you can afford its eyewatering price tag, this is the place to stay. If not, you might want to consider one of the cheapest Marriotts in Rome.

4. Rome EDITION

The Rome EDITION is also a brilliant choice in Rome. Built in the 1940s and formerly occupied by one of the main Italian banks, the building The Rome EDITION is housed in is a striking example of the rationalist style. Cesare Pascoletti created the design in collaboration with the famed architect Marcello Piacentini, the hotel’s chef partner.

The hotel has three unique bars, a rooftop lounge, bar and pool, a show-kitchen restaurant, a well-appointed urban wellness space with gym and treatment rooms, and a courtyard garden where guests can while away the time sipping their favorite drink or sample the peerless food menu from adored Roman Chef Paola Colucci.

5. Hotel Cala di Volpe, a Luxury Collection Hotel

Both of the Marriott hotels in this article are based on Costa Smeralda Resort. Stretching out over the bay like a timeless village and seemingly sculpted by the wind, the Hotel Cala di Volpe is glamourous and elegant bordering both nature and the sea.

This masterpiece of elegance, started in the 60s by Jacques Cou’lle, has been reimagined with new rooms and suites, new spaces and restaurants for an uplifted experience.

As the day unfolds, Hotel Cala di Volpe’s restaurants overlook the picture-perfect bay and provide an inspired backdrop for dining, assuming you can drag yourself away from the glorious Olympic-size saltwater pool.

6. JW Marriott Venice

Venice is one of our favourite places in the world and it has a huge variety of Marriott-branded hotels. Our favourite, and the best Marriott hotel in Venice is the JW Marriott Venice which is located on its own private island with glorious lawns and two pools, including one very Instagramable rooftop pool.

The hotel has it’s own complimentary boat that will take you to the Piazza San Marco, but when you are done with the crowds and sightseeing, you can return to this green garden island and laze under the trees or down by the pools. The best rooms here have their own private pools and sit on the edge of the lagoon.

7. St. Regis Venice

With an Avant-garde design, The St. Regis Venice merges striking, modern interiors with its historic provenance as the best address in the city. Flanked by the Grand Canal with views across iconic landmarks, the hotel has stood in this privileged position for over a century and a half.

If you want a modern and classy hotel with fantastic terraces, this is an excellent Marriott. If you are after a property oozing history, you will do better choosing the Gritti Palace, and if you want your own private pool, pick the JW Marriott Venice.

The hotel is right in the center, within walking distance from pretty much everything, and just five minutes walk from St. Mark’s Square via alleyways full of luxury boutiques. It has 129 guestrooms, 40 suites (some with a terrace), a garden terrace overlooking the canal, and a fitness center.

The communal areas in this newly launched hotel feel more modern than Venetian. The Italianate garden provides access to a range of dining and beverage options at Gio’s restaurant, St. Regis Bar, and Arts Bar.

8. Gritti Palace, A Luxury Collection

Overlooking the Grand Canal in the heart of Venice, The Gritti Palace boasts one of the most enthralling views of the lagoon city – from the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore past landmarks Punta Della Dogana and Santa Maria Della Salute Basilica to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

Dating to 1475, this noble palace and luxury hotel is a place of exceptional art and elegance that has retained its reassuringly intimate and familiar feel of a private residence. A historical treasure where heritage and culture blend with renewed Venetian style, The Gritti Palace is a refined version of its iconic self. It offers attentive service, a delectable culinary experience, and new avenues for relaxation and pleasure.

From the artistic design of its signature suites and iconic terraces to the Gritti Epicurean School, Riva Yacht experiences, and Riva Lounge and the Gritti Spa branded by Sisely Paris, The Gritti Palace is where multiple generations of elite global influencers gather to explore, taste and celebrate.

9. St. Regis Florence

The best Marriott in Florence is St. Regis Florence which has been the preferred stop of seasoned travelers since the 18th century.

Steps away from iconic landmarks, it offers an unrivaled immersion into the cradle of the Renaissance. Florentine aesthetics can be enjoyed throughout the hotel. Affixed with rich colors, custom frescos, and sparkling crystal chandeliers, the antique décor pays homage to the city’s artistic heritage.

We have compared The St. Regis Florence Vs. Four Seasons Florence. While St. Regis Florence is the best Marriott hotel in Florence, the outstanding Four Seasons Florence is a step above and should not be missed.

10. Ritz-Carlton, Lake Como

Ritz-Carlton, Lake Como deserves it’s own paragraph as this will become one of the best Marriott hotels in Italy and the best Marriott on Lake Como. This lakeside retreat will be ultra luxurious and eyewateringly expensive but will be the best place to stay on Lake Como. Currently Como hotels are hit and miss. There is a good Hilton on Como but it is not ultra luxurious so the Ritz-Carlton will be a welcomingly reliable brand on this magical lake.
