Having recently stayed at the gorgeous Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, I asked the reservations team the question: Can InterContinental Ambassador Weekend Night Certificates be used at Regent Hotels? The answer is no, very sadly, as the Regent Cannes is very much worth a visit and is easily the best luxury hotel in Cannes.
It’s worth mentioning at this point that you can book both these brands, IHG and Regent, via our luxury travel concierge to get extra free benefits such as complimentary breakfast, hotel credit, room upgrades, and your usual IHG rewards. There is also JW Marriott and the Martinez on Cannes seafront, but in our opinion, the Regent stands head and shoulders above these other luxury hotel options.
What is an Ambassador Weekend Night Certificate?
IHG has at least two reward schemes: IHG One Rewards is free to join and gives you access to exclusive member rates. It is relevant to all IHG brands, including Regent and Kimpton. You can earn points for reward nights, get free Wi-Fi, and have a better chance of getting late checkout. Plus, you get perks like bonus points, reward night discounts, welcome amenities, and milestone rewards.
InterContinental Vs. Regent Vs. Kimpton
Which hotel brand is best, InterContinental Vs. Regent Vs. Kimpton? The choice between these three hotel brands varies between individual hotels within each brand. As a general rule, InterContinental was one of the original luxury business hotels and remains a luxury, if slightly corporate, hotel brand that is present in most major cities. InterContinental hotels are typified by large modern buildings with a generic interior finish and lots of business facilities. Some InterContinental hotels, like the InterContinental Geneva, have very good pools and leisure facilities.
IHG also has an InterContinental Ambassador, which is relevant only to InterContinental hotels and not Regent hotels. It is a loyalty program that delivers benefits exclusively at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties worldwide and one of the benefits here is a free weekend night certificate which can be used at any InterContinental hotel.
The benefits of InterContinental Ambassador membership are: guaranteed one category room upgrade, guaranteed extended 4:00 pm checkout, one complimentary weekend night per anum, Platinum Elite status in IGH One Rewards and the corresponding benefits, restaurant, and bar credit of USD20 for every stay, complimentary mineral water, complimentary internet, dedicated check-in area, a single room rate for double occupancy and for mainland China only, complimentary breakfast for one each night you stay.
The cost of InterContinental Ambassador membership is currently USD 200 every 12 months. IHG One Rewards members can also purchase membership for 40,000 points.
Review: InterContinental London Park Lane, England
The InterContinental London Park Lane is an elegant luxury hotel right in the heart of London. It offers rooms of varying sizes with incredible views across Regents and Green Park, as well as the Hyde Park Corner roundabout. It also has a great gym, Elemis Spa, two excellent restaurants, and an unbeatable location. Interestingly, the hotel is situated on the site of Queen Elizabeth II's former residence (145 Piccadilly) and was opened in 1975. My favourite thing about this hotel is that it has the best Club Lounge in London, check it out in our video tour.
The complimentary weekend night is valid on the second night of a minimum two-night paid weekend stay on the Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night Rate at any InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property worldwide, excluding InterContinental Alliance Resorts and excluding Regent Hotels.

The Ambassador Weekend Night Certificate can be used at any InterContinental hotel, like the wonderful InterContinental London Park Lane. We are also major fans of the InterContinental Le Grand in Paris and the InterContinental Barclay in New York. Review: JW Marriott Cannes
JW Marriott Cannes is perfectly located in the heart of Le Croisette, the prominent waterfront promenade in Cannes renowned for its glamour, luxury, and stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. The promenade stretches approximately 2 kilometers along the bay and is lined with palm trees, prestigious hotels, upscale boutiques, and chic cafes. Cannes is a renowned city located on the French Riviera, a glamorous stretch along the southeastern coast of France. It is part of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, nestled in the Alpes-Maritimes department.
The Ambassador Weekend Night Certificate cannot be used at any Regent hotels, not in Cannes, Beijing, Berlin, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Phu Quoc (we have personally reviewed the nearby InterContinental Phu Quoc and it’s fabulous too), Porto Montenegro, Shanghai On The Bund, Shanghai Pudong or Taipei.
