We’ve already reviewed the cheapest Silversea cruises, and how to get the best deals on Silversea. Now we review the best Silversea cruises and cruise ships.

2020-2021 looks set to be a sensational season of sailing for Silversea. With the beautiful new ship Silver Moon taking to the seas in August 2020, the new and improved Arctic and Antarctic itineraries, and overnights on all voyages of over seven nights, there is (almost) no inch of coastline left uncovered. Voyages take place across 84 countries with a fantastic polar schedule and more Silversea European departures than ever before.

Silversea Cruises consistently win cruise liner awards for being the best luxury cruise line in various categories including the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards, which they have won for 10 years in a row. They also get a 5-star Berlitz rating. Why are they so good? Spacious cabins, fine dining, and a high level of staff to guest ratios help. There is almost one crew member for each guest!

Their smaller ships mean that Silversea Cruises can access smaller, more unique ports, such as Portofino on the Italian coast. All-suite accommodation means that there are no bad rooms. Food-wise, Silversea Cruises offer fine wines, champagne, liquor, cocktails and gourmet dining all included in the price (as well as tips on board). Silversea Cruises ships are smaller and more intimate than many of the more mainstream cruise brands. The trips they offer are expeditions as well as being luxury cruises.

All-Inclusive sailings, include the Mediterranean, Asia, and Africa. Add a stay at a luxury hotel or a luxury safari to your trip to tailor-make your just for you. Flights, transfers, and shore excursions are also included. Onboard all Silversea cruise ships, there’s sophisticated entertainment with live music, enrichment teachers, acclaimed chefs, and destination consultants.

While it’s hard to pick the best cruise, as the itineraries vary so much and what might be the best cruise expedition for one person may not be the best itinerary for another person. May I take the easy way out on this one and say they’re all great? It’s easier to pick the best ship as their size and locations differ hugely, so here goes!

1. Silver Moon

We love a new ship, so the Silver Moon, built by cruise lovers, for cruise lovers, is surely the best Silversea cruise ship on the water in 2020. It has the added bonus of the fun name. Stay on “the moon”, we think you should!

Building on the phenomenal success of Silver Muse, Silver Moon is due to be delivered August 2020 and will mirror her sister ship. At 40,700 gross tons and with a capacity to accommodate 596 passengers on board, Silver Moon will maintain the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodation which are the hallmarks of the Silversea experience.

Silver Moon will also feature the all-new Sea And Land Taste (.S.A.L.T.) program – an immersive culinary concept that will enable guests to travel deeper through a range of destination-based gastronomic experiences.

2. Silver Origin

Also arriving in summer 2020 is the most elegant ship ever to sail the Galapagos. The first destination-specific ship built by Silversea, Silver Origin offers the best way to travel in the Galapagos.

Never before have the islands been so superbly presented. A team of Ecuadorian national expert guides will teach you, the highest crew-to-guest ratio in the Galapagos will look after you, 8 Zodiacs will transport you and seamless hybrid spaces offer an extraordinary voyage for extraordinary people.

With all-suite accommodation, Horizon Balconies, butler service, sophisticated interiors, interactive basecamp, and Ecuadorian inspired cuisine, no aspect of Silver Origin has been left to chance. This is also the most environmentally conscious ship Silversea has ever built.

3. Silver Cloud

Silver Cloud is the most spacious and comfortable ice class vessel in expedition cruising. Watching a breaching whale or a few cavorting penguins has never been so personal. Broad sweeping decks with multiple open spaces and a swimming pool complete one of the best expedition ships in the world.

After extensive refurbishment, the Cloud has been turned into an expedition ship and works well as such. Her large suites, her destination itineraries, and her unparalleled service make her truly special.

The rooms and public areas offer more room than the expedition ships. As usual, the service onboard is very good. Her four dining options will tantalize your taste buds and as 80% of her suites include a veranda, you can marvel at the wildlife from your own personal space.

The food and wines are excellent and while some of the expeditions can be long, this remains the newest Silversea expedition ship (for now) and is a delight to sail on. The very unusual itineraries make this cruise ship one of your best choices. With her 18 zodiacs, 10 kayaks, possibilities are almost limitless with ship-wide simultaneous explorations.

4. Silver Explorer

Silver Explorer has been designed for navigating in some of the world’s most remote destinations. A strengthened hull with a Lloyd’s Register ice-class notation (1A) for passenger vessels enables the Silver Explorer Expedition Cruise Ship to safely push through ice floes with ease. Lying just off the western coast of South America, the Galápagos archipelago is inaccessible to most, yet this isolation has allowed nature to develop in ways exclusive to the islands.

A Galápagos expedition cruise, enjoyed aboard Silver Galapagos, brings you to one of the most isolated places in the world. Experience it all with complimentary exploration activities including Zodiac tours, snorkeling, kayaking, and nature hikes, led by highly experienced guides certified by the National Park of the Galápagos.

This is actually the smallest Silversea ship with just 100 guests. Silver Galapagos fuses seamless shore excursions, quality lectures, and multiple Zodiac landings with excellent dining and plush all-suite accommodation.

10. Silver Wind

Welcome home to the luxury cruise ship, Silver Wind. Timelessly elegant yet luxuriously relaxed, she strikes the perfect balance of yacht-like intimacy combined with space, amenities, and diversions typically reserved for larger vessels. Warm welcomes and gracious personalized service inspire guests to call her their “home away from home”.

A second refurbishment due in summer 2020 will see Silver Wind benefitting from an ice-class hull and will make her one of the most adaptable ships in the Silversea fleet. Still timelessly elegant, still luxuriously relaxed, her improved cruising versatility means she is able to whizz from the Polar Regions at the ends of the earth to the iconic ports of the Mediterranean with fluid ease.
