We’ve already investigated the cheapest Silversea cruises. Now we review how to get the best deals. The ultra-luxury Silversea Cruise ships have high occupancy rates, but in the low season or for less popular relocation cruises, you can pick up a great deal.
For example, for relocation cruises, where the boat is moved from one area of the world to another, e.g., from the Meditteranean in the Autumn to the Caribbean for the winter season, rates become cheaper, and you can book rooms on special deals with a discount. This is the same for cruises at all cruise companies.
Why Silversea Cruises?
Silversea Cruises consistently win cruise liner awards for being the best luxury cruise line in various categories, including the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards, which they have won for 10 years in a row. They also get a 5-star Berlitz rating. Why are they so good? Spacious cabins, fine dining, and a high level of staff to guest ratios help. There is almost one crew member for each guest!
Their smaller ships mean that Silversea Cruises can access smaller, more unique ports, such as Portofino, on the Italian coast. All-suite accommodation means that there are no bad rooms. Food-wise, Silversea Cruises offers fine wines, champagne, liquor, cocktails, and gourmet dining, all included in the price (as well as tips on board). Silversea Cruises ships are smaller and more intimate than many of the more mainstream cruise brands. The trips they offer are expeditions as well as being luxury cruises.
1. Book With A Luxury Travel Agent For Extra Benefits

Silversea is not alone in this luxury offering. Most luxury hotels and luxury cruises have hidden travel agent loyalty programs that give you free benefits if you book with the right “Virtuoso” partner travel agent. 2. Book Early
The best cruises do sell out, particularly in the high season, so if you know what you want and definitely want it, book it! I regularly recommend clients who book their stay with our concierge book as soon as the rates come out. It is simply not worth holding out for a last-minute discount as these magical discounts won’t necessarily happen on your cruise. Instead, take advantage of advance purchase deals that will often be cheaper than any last-minute offers anyway.
Often, the cheapest cabins and the best cabins tend to sell out. At the last minute, you are unlikely to be able to book the cheapest cabin. The cabin you wanted may have sold out, so you can be left paying a premium cabin on a deal when you may not even want a premium cabin.
So the key to booking a Silversea, an absolute must, is to book as soon as you can, ideally on an advance purchase deal, so you can secure the cabin that you actually want while paying the cheapest possible rate. Booking in advance will not always get you a discount, but it will stop you from paying over the odds as you will be able to book into the cabin that you actually want.
3. Book Advance Purchase Deals
If you are booking in advance and are very sure of your dates, as outlined above, book early and ideally on an advance purchase deal. This is one of the few ways to get you a cheaper deal. You MUST be sure of your dates, though, because once you have booked in, there are no refunds on most advance purchase rates, so if you can’t make it, you won’t get your money back! Most Silversea advance purchase deals offer anywhere from 10-30% discount off their usual rates, but offers vary according to the cruise and ship.
4. Change Your Holiday Dates
If you can even re-arrange your dates and plan to specifically target certain Silversea deals when they are cheapest and are offering the best discounts, you will get the best deal.
5. Look Out For New Ships
There are brilliant new Silversea ships launching all the time. The brand new Silver Moon arrives in August 2020. They say, “It will take you to unexpected and faraway worlds, making your senses come alive with new sights, sounds, and tastes from across our wondrous planet. Silver Moon. Discover a new world of travel.”
6. Stay Shorter
It sounds obvious when you say it out loud, but I would prefer 3 nights at an expensive Silversea cruise rather than a week on a bog-standard cruise ship. Pick a short cruise as it will be cheaper! Cruises are priced according to length but also popularity. If you are flexible, you can get a better deal on less popular cruises on less popular ships.
7. Book Late
Contrary to my advice above, if you can’t commit to paying in advance for your cruise, it can be worth waiting until the last minute to chance a good deal coming up. While this method of cruise booking is risky, if you aren’t bothered about where you cruise, there is an opportunity to pick up a bargain at the very last minute.
8. Join The Rewards Program
Join the Silversea rewards loyalty program, which will get you a great discount. When you complete your first Silversea voyage, you become part of an exclusive circle of friends. The Venetian Society offers Onboard recognition and private parties, with membership privileges and milestone rewards gained on every sailing. This could include onboard recognition and invitations to private events, ship visitation privileges, and an additional 5% off on select sailings.
The more you sail, the more you receive. After:
- 100 days: 5% savings on future sailings
- 250 days: 10% savings on future sailings
- 350 days: complimentary 7-day voyage
- 500 days: complimentary 14-day voyage
- 500-day milestone, a complimentary 7-day voyage for every 150 days sailed
All of the above milestones include complimentary laundry service (excludes dry cleaning and “press only”).
9. Refer A Friend
Silversea has a refer-a-friend program called Friends of The Society® Programme. When your new-to-Silversea friends sail with you, as a sponsoring Venetian Society member, you will receive:
$250 USD Shipboard Credit – Available on designated Venetian Society voyages
Double Cruise Days – Available on any Silversea sailing. As an example, if you and your friends sail together on a 15-day voyage, you will accrue a total of 30 Cruise Days.
Friends who sail with you on a designated Venetian Society voyage will enjoy the same 5% Venetian Society savings that are available to you, as well as any applicable Silver Savings. This benefit is limited to a maximum of four friends in two additional suites.
