Las Vegas is cheap when there isn’t a convention.

You geta massive discount on hotel prices if you ski in Whistler or at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek near Aspen in the Rocky Mountains in the shoulder seasons. In mid-December and April, the rates are much cheaper!
