We have reviewed points and miles hotels in or near Boston, Massachusetts, USA, some of which have the best club or executive lounges and others which are great for value, price, room quality, amenities such as pool and more. Whether traveling as a couple or a family, we have picked the best hotels to redeem your loyalty points.
If you want to stay in luxury in Boston, you could stay at one of Boston’s luxury hotels, which include Boston Harbor Hotel, Fairmont Copley Plaza, Four Seasons Hotel Boston, Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston, Mandarin Oriental, Boston, The Ritz-Carlton, Boston, and XV Beacon.
But most of these are not redeemable on points (with the exception of the Ritz and the Fairmont), so we are not looking at the hotels which are redeemable with loyalty points. These include the InterContinental, Kimption, Hilton, Hyatt, Sheraton, and one of the newest Marriott Bonvoy properties, the W Hotel, next to the InterContinental on the waterfront.
1. The Ritz-Carlton Boston
The five-star Ritz-Carlton Boston is one of the most elegant and stylish hotels in central Boston. It is also one of the best places to redeem your Marriott Bonvoy points, and it has the best hotel club lounge in Boston! The hotel is located in the theatre district. The Chinatown T station is right around the corner of the building, and the Boylston station is nearby. This is a huge plus since Boston can be a tough place to navigate by car, so public transport is a great way to get around (even for the luxury traveler). The hotel is also a short walk to Boston Common Park, a nice place to stretch your legs and get some fresh air.
The lobby of this Ritz-Carlton is surprisingly small but feels boutique, in a good way. The hotel’s recently restyled Avery Bar takes its inspiration from the classic cocktails of Prohibition-era and 1950s America, while the newly opened Artisan Bistro provides healthy, seasonal fare.
Rooms are classy and recently refurbished following a $13 million USD redesign completed in 2017. Deluxe amenities include marble soaking bathtubs; an enhanced entertainment package that offers Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Pandora on large-screen, smart TVs; and dramatic city and park views.
If you stay in a regular guest room, you have to pay for access to the Equinox gym. The sports facilities at this gym are very good, with a full-size pool, but it is a pain to have to pay extra for this if you are not in a club room. Club rooms get lounge access and gym access for free.
If you are a Platinum Bonvoy member, expect free high-speed internet and free access to the health club (which is great), but no other upgrades and no free breakfast. Platinum status should also guarantee late check-out at this Ritz-Carlton. This hotel requires 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for a free night and is well worth blowing your points on.
2. Kimpton Nine Zero
Winning the best boutique hotel in Boston, we just love Kimpton’s Newly Renovated Downtown Boston Hotel. As Boston embraces its role as a premier travel destination with international appeal, the city’s downtown scene is flourishing as a social, cultural, and innovation hub. At its epicenter sits Kimpton Nine Zero Hotel, capturing the vitality of Boston’s modern renaissance and taking inspiration from its illustrious history to give rise to something entirely fresh.
Step inside, and you’ll discover this chic, design-forward boutique hotel with luxe touches like skyline views, celebrated food, wine, and cocktail program, and generous in-room amenities. Walk outside our doors, and you’ll find yourself at the crossroads of three distinct but equally vibrant neighborhoods: Beacon Hill, Downtown Crossing, and the Financial District and steps from Boston Common and the historic Freedom Trail.
For 60,000 IHG reward points per night or around $360 USD per night, we think this Kimpton is the more fun, unique and better choice for redeeming loyalty points than the Intercontinental, which is reviewed further down this review. In fact, we think this is one of the best hotel reward point redemptions in Boston, full stop.
3. Kimpton Onyx Hotel
This is the second-best Kimpton in Boston and, again, offers a unique boutique charm. At Kimpton Onyx Hotel, expect to be welcomed like family by genuine staff who freely dole out warmth, real connections, and that “wicked smaht” mindset.
Rather than simply passing off your keys, members of our team operate by the Boston-backed philosophy of creating a destination “where everybody knows your name.” This West End boutique hotel has been carefully curated for authenticity, meaning our guests tend to be laidback yet polished and always ready to enjoy the finer things in Boston.
At 55,000 IHG reward points per night or around $330 USD per night, this Kimpton comes in cheaper vs. the Kimption Nine Zero, but we think the Nine Zero has the edge for style.
4. Fairmont Copley Plaza
Fairmont Copley Plaza sits steps away from the Boston Public Library, historic Beacon Hill, the Freedom Trail, and Newbury Street. This Boston hotel offers 383 lavish guestrooms, including 17 elegant suites and Fairmont Gold level, complete with a private lounge and special amenities for guests. Fairmont Copley Plaza provides a complimentary rooftop health club overlooking Back Bay. It is home to one of the hottest drinking and dining destinations in the city, OAK Long Bar + Kitchen.
5. InterContinental Boston
InterContinental Boston is located on Boston’s waterfront, adjacent to the financial district, and convenient for historical landmarks, including the North End and the Boston Tea Party Museum. In addition to its excellent location, the Intercontinental Boston also features a very nice gym and pool.
While this is a good quality classic InterContinental, it does feel a little corporate and is designed for conferences, so it is the opposite of a boutique hotel. The hotel has a huge 424 guestrooms and 38 suites, and there is a Club InterContinental Lounge on the 11th floor. If you want to redeem and book on IHG points, this hotel costs 70,000 points per night.
Other IHG hotels in Boston include Kimpton Nine Zero Hotel, which starts at 60,000 IHG loyalty points per redemption night. Kimpton Onyx Hotel, which starts at 55,000 IHG loyalty points per redemption night, and Hotel Indigo Boston Garden, which starts at 60,000 IHG loyalty points per redemption night.
6. W Boston
W Boston is probably the best Marriott Bonvoy property in Boston after the aforementioned Ritz-Carlton and is similarly good to the Liberty below. Both this and the hotel below has a modern, trendy vibe. The W Hotel Boston features 235 stylish guest rooms, all in a modern building located in the city’s theatre district. This hotel costs 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points on redemption per night.
The W hotel itself is good, not as good as the Ritz, but it is a quality luxury offering on a similar level as Le Meridien. Both are well located with tons of nearby restaurants. W Boston has a W lounge but no club lounge.

7. Liberty Boston
The Liberty Boston is a Luxury Collection Marriott Bonvoy property that costs 60,000 Marriot Bonvoy points on redemption and is a solid choice in Boston.
It has a great ambiance with a fun and impressive lobby and excellent service. It is a few steps away from Beacon Hill, where there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, etc.
It doesn’t have a club lounge but does have a night club with a hiphop DJ on weekend nights. Arrive late at night, and you will see queues of locals in front of the hotel out to enjoy a weekend night out. Guests can cut the lines, but if you are not into thumping music and dancing locals in the lobby, this hotel might not be the place for you.
Platinum Bonvoy members get treated well here with free breakfast. You get to choose two items from their menu (e.g., an egg dish and bacon), which then get plated nicely with coffee and juice.
One of the worst things about this hotel is that it uses one of those shampoo/body wash dispensers in the showers. Yes, they are good for the environment, but I hate the hygiene aspect as they are often sticky from the last user.
The Liberty is worth considering if you collect Marriott Bonvoy points, as it is a much nicer property than the Sheraton. Marriotts and Westin Copley above, but we have placed it in position 10 as it does not have a club lounge.
8. Boston Marriott Long Wharf
The Boston Marriott Long Wharf is your best Marriott Bonvoy rewards choice in Boston for value (the Ritz is the best Marriott Bonvoy choice for luxury) and this hotel unveiled a total transformation in 2018. Located along the harbor at the epicenter of Boston’s rich history and happenings, this completely renovated hotel (a staggering $35 million USD was spent on this renovation) offers a spacious indoor pool with panoramic harbor views, along with a refreshed fitness center with interactive Peloton bikes, featuring immersive indoor cycling experiences with streaming live classes.
Newly modernized rooms and suites offer a new level of comfort with spa-style bathrooms featuring organic Aromatherapy amenities, flat-screen HDTVs streaming Netflix and Pandora, and striking views of the harbor or downtown. All rooms are styled with distinctive décor that reflects the waterfront locale with rich leather, grey marble, and deep blues. Renovated spaces feature brass and marble finishes and colors evocative of the hotel’s waterfront surroundings.
There is an M Club lounge at this hotel, and a loyalty point redemption costs 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy loyalty points for a night redemption.
9. The Westin Copley Place, Boston
Westin Copley Place Boston is a Marriott Bonvoy hotel located in the city’s Back Bay area, convenient to Hynes Convention Center and shopping on Newbury Street and at the Copley Mall.
With 803 rooms, 132 junior suites, and 10 specialty suites, this is a fantastically large hotel, but all rooms include a Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath, so you should sleep well. The hotel does feel dated, and it is used largely for conventions, so it would not be my top choice for a leisure trip in Boston. There is a Spa, a Westin Kids Club, which is good, offering coloring books, bath toys, an over-the-phone bedtime story service, and more importantly for this review, a club lounge.
The lounge here is a really nice-looking, intimate space on the 5th floor, but it lacks views. This hotel costs 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points per night on redemption and is around the same level as the Sheraton Boston below. If I were redeeming my loyalty points, I would pick the Boston Marriott Long Wharf over the Westin Copley Place every time. The Marriott Long Wharf is currently the best Marriott Bonvoy hotel in town.

10. Sheraton Boston
Sheraton Boston is a nice Sheraton with a fabulous view across the Charles River from its club lounge. Marriott Rewards®, Gold and Platinum Elite members, and one guest automatically enjoy lounge access as part of their elite status. It attracts convention guests much like the Westin above and is also a little bit dated, but the lounge is very nice and renovated. It costs 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. Again, I would pick the Marriott Long Wharf over this property any day of the week as they cost the same in point redemption.
11. Boston Marriott Copley Place
Boston Marriott Copley Place is located in an ugly building, but has great views across the Boston skyline from this hotel are fabulous. As a Gold or higher member, you will get concierge lounge access. The concierge lounge is great with breakfast, snacks, and evening drinks, and snacks, much like any other Marriott lounge. There is a California Pizza Kitchen right across the street if you are hungry beyond the lounge, and many other eateries very close by.
12. Boston Marriott Cambridge
Once again, this Marriott hotel is ugly from the outside, but it is renovated on the inside with nice room features like a large shower with glass sliding doors. The location is around Kendall Square, with plenty of restaurants and amenities. There is also a nice pool at this hotel. Marriott Rewards®, Gold and Platinum Elite members, and one guest automatically enjoy lounge access as part of their elite status.
13. Hilton Boston Back Bay
The Hilton Hilton Boston Back Bay is a nice Hilton choice in Boston and one of the main options for redeeming Hilton Honours points. Located in the picturesque Back Bay neighborhood with its famous brownstones, we recommend that you book a room on a high floor for a nice view of MIT across the river and the whole Back Bay. The Hilton is right across the street from the Sheraton that we reviewed above.
14. Hilton Downtown
Your other Hilton option in Boston is the Hilton Downtown Boston in the Financial District and mainly useful for business travelers rather than leisure travelers. This hotel costs the same number of loyalty points as the Hilton above and has a classic, traditional style.
It has a fitness center with Life Cardio Machines, a 24-hour business center, 403 guest rooms and suites with high ceilings, a 42-inch HDTV, and a refrigerator, and was recently renovated. It is just minutes from the area’s most popular attractions, so you can take in the shops, restaurants, and live entertainment of Faneuil Hall Marketplace during your stay.
15. Hyatt Regency Boston
Hyatt Regency Boston can be found in the heart of the financial district, connected to a huge Macy’s store and on the same block as a T station, so it’s easy to get to via public transport. With 498 guest rooms and 19 suites, this hotel is bog, and it also boasts a 24-hour fitness center, a heated indoor pool and can provide spa services upon request. The main restaurant is Avenue One, which has a dining room, bar, and lounge. There is no club lounge at this Hyatt Regency. World of Hyatt Globalist loyalty members get offered breakfast for free in the main hotel restaurant instead of lounge access.
16. Hyatt Regency Cambridge
There is also a Hyatt Regency Cambridge overlooking Boston from the other side of the Charles. The Hyatt Regency Cambridge does not have a club lounge either. High-status World Of Hyatt members receives bonus points and free breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
There is also a more basic Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall Boston for World Of Hyatt members to earn and redeem Hyatt points, but this property is not noteworthy and could not be considered a luxury.
