Book A Hotel

Having frequented the British Airways Galleries Business Class airport lounge at San Francisco on many occasions, it is simply too small to deal with a 747 and a 380 departing within three hours of each other. This makes it one of the worst British Airways airport lounges that I have experienced. You can read all my British Airways airport lounge reviews separately.

The earlier flight is a 747, and you can access the plane directly from the lounge. This was not possible with my flight on the BA A380, and it requires different gates to facilitate the larger aircraft.

The lounge was comfortable but somewhat dated. It can be hard to find a vacant seat to relax preflight. Food and drink is plentiful. The airport’s view is limited, the staff are friendly, and there is generally a lively atmosphere with many conversations and multi-screens playing different TV channels.

The space has loft-style ceilings, with large windows looking out onto the airport. The furnishing style is predominantly sofas and easy chairs, with little nooks everywhere, creating private spaces with library style furnishings. There is also bar-style seating close to the buffet area.

The staff are charming. While adequate, this lounge is too small for the capacity but does not match the elegance and sophistication of the A380 First Class experience…
