Book A Hotel

Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, hosts the second best club lounge in Wailea. Is it any good? Read on to find out.

Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, features the Napua Club Lounge. This executive club lounge provides complimentary food and drinks throughout the day. While this is a good club lounge, the quality of food and setting is not a patch on the club lounge offered by Four Seasons Maui, next door.

That said, the price of a Napua Tower room with club access at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, is much cheaper than the ocean view rooms with club access at the Four Seasons Maui so you get what you pay for.

For now, these are the only two hotels with club lounges in Wailea as the Fairmont Kea Lani does not have a club lounge, the Wailea beach resort by Marriott does not have a club lounge and the Andaz in Wailea does not have a club lounge either.

Book any of these hotels via our luxury travel concierge for extra benefits and perks, including free breakfast, resort credit, and a prioritized room upgrade. Our benefits are so good you may feel they negate the need for a club lounge.

If you are looking for an excellent club lounge on Maui, we would also highly reccomend the brilliant club lounge at the Ritz-Carlton Maui.

The Ritz-Carlton Maui, is a beautiful and secluded resort in the high-end resort of Kapalua on the North West coast of Maui. It offers excellent golf and one of the best club lounges in Hawaii. We love the club lounge at the Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, because: It Has Excellent Views (you can even watch whales out of the windows!

Location

Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, is located on the picturesque southwest shore of Maui, one of the Hawaiian Islands. Specifically, it is situated in Wailea, which is known for its stunning beaches, lush landscapes, and upscale resorts. The resort is nestled along Wailea Beach, pictured above and one of Maui’s most beautiful and renowned beaches, offering pristine sands and crystal-clear waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and water sports.

The location of Grand Wailea is right on the same beach as the Four Seasons Maui and Wailea Beach Resort. Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, is a tropical prime beachfront resort. A stroll up the coast is the Fairmont Kea Lani.

Nearby, guests can explore the upscale shopping and dining at The Shops at Wailea and championship golf courses, including the Wailea Golf Club. The resort is also within driving distance of popular destinations such as Haleakalā National Park, where visitors can experience breathtaking sunrise and sunset views from the summit of Haleakalā Volcano.

Four Seasons Maui Vs. Grand Wailea: Which Is Best?

Which is the best hotel in Maui? Four Seasons Maui Vs. Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort? The good news is that we have stayed at both of these hotels, and I have outlined the pros and cons of each hotel below. If you don't have time to read this article in detail, the Four Seasons Maui is the best hotel, far better than the Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, in our opinion. It is more glamorous and more beautifully decorated. It even smells better due to the deliciously scented extravagant flower arrangements dotted all over the hotel.

Service & Facilities

This is a massive hotel with a fairly generic style. The highlight here is the pools. The resort features an impressive array of amenities and facilities, including multiple pools, water features, and recreational activities. Among its highlights are the Wailea Canyon Activity Pool, which boasts nine interconnected pools, water slides, a lazy river, and a Tarzan rope swing, providing endless fun for guests of all ages. Additionally, there is an adults-only pool for those seeking a more tranquil atmosphere.

Recent guests have noted the closure of various facilities, including the Water elevator, Grotto bar, and Spa, so it would be wise to find out which facilities are working before deciding to stay here. Our luxury travel concierge agents have direct contacts at the Grand Wailea and can find out which facilities are currently closed before you go ahead and book. We’re happy to research on your behalf.

Rooms

Rooms have a variety of views and are large at this resort. We would pick the Ocean View, as you should be able to fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.

Club Lounge

For club lounge access, you need to book a club room in the Napua Tower. The Napua Club lounge offers a decent breakfast, appetizers, tea in the afternoon, and happy hour in the evening with nibbles.

The setting is pleasant, but given that most people stay here because of the tropical pools, you are unlikely to want to spend much time in this lounge. It doesn’t have the ambiance or views that the Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton club lounges have, and it is not top of the best club lounges in Hawaii.

Which hotels in Hawaii offer the best executive club level lounges? We review lounges across Oahu, including Waikiki, Maui, Kaanapali, Kapalua, Wailea, Kauai, Poipu, and Hanalei, and the Big Island's picturesque Kona-Kohala coast. I have compiled a list below containing the best club lounges available across the best luxury hotels in Hawaii. I list the ones I consider to be the best at the top. I review each of these hotel club lounges in detail so you know what you will get if you book a room with club lounge access.

You may not feel the extra expense is worth it given that The Shops at Wailea, an open-air shopping mall is across the street, which houses a large grocery store and plenty of inexpensive cafes.

Being a Waldorf property, the Diamond benefits are minimal. There is no free breakfast and no access to the executive club lounge, but you can get free breakfast along with other free benefits if you book via our concierge, which may again negate the need to book the club lounge here.

Conclusion

The Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, is a large resort that occasionally lacks attention to detail. It has great pools, the best in Hawaii, but we prefer the Four Seasons next door for luxury.
