Review: Hotel d’Angleterre, Copenhagen

Book A Stay

Hotel d’Angleterre, Copenhagen, is a five-star hotel on Kongens Nytorv in the heart of Copenhagen, Northern Europe’s coolest capital.

Hotel d’Angleterre is situated just a minute’s walk from the colorful Nyhavn, the Royal Theatre, King’s Garden, and Strøget, which is Europe’s longest shopping street. The hotel is also conveniently located 20 minutes from Copenhagen’s main airport.

Style & Character

Established in 1755, the 5-star Hotel d’Angleterre is an icon and a historic landmark in Copenhagen. The hotel is housed in a snow-white neoclassical palace flanked by smart window blinds. For Christmas, the hotel is decorated like a big advent calendar with icicles hanging from the roof and figurines depicting scenes surrounded by snowy fir trees.

Inside, the hotel exudes sophistication and elegance, with classic high ceilings offering historic details. Glorious chandeliers hang above elegant furnishings and colorful flower arrangements.

Hotel d’Angleterre has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and has reopened as a revitalized grand palace with a Michelin-starred Restaurant and Champagne Bar.

There are 92 rooms, including 55 suites. Some suites offer decked terraces where you can enjoy breakfast overlooking the historic square below. All have the latest technology and individually controlled climate systems.

Service & Facilities

Amazing Space at d’Angleterre is one of the trendiest spas in Copenhagen. The creamy stone walls of the spa and the immaculate indoor swimming pool help to make this hotel one of the best luxury hotels in Copenhagen. This hotel is actually the only hotel featuring an indoor swimming pool in inner Copenhagen.

The spa offers soothing and nurturing treatments, and the wellness area also includes a sauna, steam room, and fitness area equipped with professional TechnoGym equipment, including treadmills, kinesis stations, and exercise bikes.

Food & Drink

Hotel d’Angleterre features Marchal, a Michelin-starred fine-dining restaurant renowned for being one of the best restaurants in Copenhagen. It serves lavish breakfast buffets, extraordinary lunches, and exquisite, luxury dinner experiences. Marchal’s kitchen is run by Danish Executive Chef Jakob de Neergaard, one of Denmark’s greatest masters of French cuisine and with enormous knowledge and experience in classic French Michelin gastronomy. His menu is characterized by gastronomic palatability and features truly extraordinary taste experiences for every occasion.

The d’Angleterre also offers the contemporary Champagne bar, Balthazar, serving more than 160 different Champagne varieties, Champagne cocktails, and classic cocktails. Finally, MAISON d’Angleterre is a culinary destination for discerning connoisseurs, serving freshly brewed coffee and croissants, pastries, and many other refined delicacies.

There isn’t a more beautifully refurbished luxury hotel in Copenhagen. There isn’t another with an indoor pool in central Copenhagen, either. This luxury establishment really is the top choice in the city, and if you can stretch to a room with a veranda, then an alfresco breakfast looking down on the world is not to be missed.
