We focus on the very best luxury hotels in the hotel, and most of these are members of a luxury hotel chain. Below I have ranked the top 6 luxury hotel chains with my reasons for choosing each one over and above the other. Included are some of the hotels we have stayed in which are part of these chains so that you can get a taster of why these hotel chains are so special.
1. Top Luxury Hotel Chain – Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts
I rank Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts as my favorite luxury hotel chain. The Four Seasons has the nicest staff in the world and offers a consistently luxurious offering with beautiful rooms, particularly bathrooms, and a guaranteed excellent standard of absolutely everything else.
I particularly love Four Seasons Cap Ferrat and Four Seasons Hampshire.
2. Leading Hotels Of The World
We ranked Leading Hotels Of The World in the second position as it includes what I consider to be some of the best luxury hotels in the world and because it has such an extensive range of hundreds of properties. These gorgeous hotels include the Belmond Cipriani Venice, the Capri Palace, the Langham London, the Hotel Hermitage Monte Carlo and the Metropole Monte Carlo (see photo above). What sets this chain apart is that each hotel is completely individual in design and character. All offer excellent restaurants and atmospheric bars in truly special locations.
3. Aman Resorts
Aman hotels offer another level of luxury, but they are massively expensive with a limited number of locations, so while you may be an “Amanjunkie” and love Aman hotels, you won’t necessarily find one where you are traveling to.
The level of luxury in these hotels surpasses any other hotel chain, but the choice of locations is limited. Each absorbs local character, while rooms have a zen Asian feel. Everything has been so well thought about at these Aman hotels. They make you feel so very special, and staying in an Aman hotel is like being part of an elite club. You can read our review of the fabulous Aman Canal Grande Venice and the Amanera by Aman Resorts in the Dominican Republic, Caribbean.
4. Park Hyatt
This is the top brand of the Hyatt portfolio and offers modern innovative room designs that often absorb local character feature great bars restaurants, and Park Hyatts are usually located within the center of cities. You can read our review of the Park Hyatt Vienna and the Park Hyatt Siem Reap as examples of this great chains.
5. Small Luxury Hotels
This luxury hotel chain comes in at number 5 because most of these hotels are wonderful, but the odd poor one falls through the net. Small Luxury Hotels include possibly the nicest hotel in the Cotswolds, The Greenway Hotel & Spa, as well as Langshott Manor which we visited recently. JK Palace in Capri is another one of their top hotels and is well worth a visit.
6. Relais Chateaux
I rank this at number 6 because we have only stayed in a few Relais Chateaux hotels. These include the Royal Crescent in Bath and the Lucknam Park Hotel near Bath. Both are great hotels with a similar character level to Leading Hotels of the World.
Please note that this list of luxury hotel chains is my own personal opinion. I am sure you will have a conversation with other luxury travelers, and they will come up with a different order for this list. Whatever your preference, you can be sure of a close-to-perfection stay if you choose a hotel from any of these chains.
