Book A Hotel

Were you offered a free room upgrade on your last stay at a Four Seasons hotel or resort? If not, read on, as we can help you snag a room or even a suite upgrade on your next stay for no extra cost. You would be amazed at how many luxury travelers miss out on these free hotel perks.

1. Book With An Official Preferred Partner Agency

Four Seasons partners directly with a small number of high-end agencies, including our own Luxury Travel Concierge, which means that we offer privileges at Four Seasons hotels and resorts as a priority over other travel agents. You also do not need to hold a specific credit card or commit to a membership to book with us.

If you want to book a room or a suite at a Four Seasons hotel, we can advise on the hotel and rooms you might want to select. You can also go to the Four Seasons website to decide on rooms, rates, and dates. Then, book through our concierge.

2. Get Prioritised (by using a Preferred Partner Agency)

Four Seasons room upgrades are subject to availability on check-in, so they cannot be guaranteed until you arrive at the hotel. When you book with our concierge, your free room upgrade is prioritized.

What does this mean? Put simply, a room booked by us will get a priority upgrade over those who book using Virtuoso or Amex Finest Hotels & Resorts or any other agents offering room upgrades. Crucially, if there is only one room left, which is the category above yours, we put you at the front of the line for this upgrade!

Equally, if there is a room left in the category above yours, you will get the upgrade when you check-in. Four Seasons don’t mess about. They want to make your stay as brilliant as possible, so they want to upgrade you. They will not leave a room open and unused in the category above yours; they will want you to have it.

3. Book In Low Season

If you book a stay at a Four Seasons in a vacation destination like Four Seasons Hawaii or Four Seasons Los Cabos at Christmas, New Years or mid Summer, the hotel is likely to be fully booked so a room upgrade becomes less likely. Book in low season, so in resort areas, this might be October and November, and the resort is unlikely to be full, so your room upgrade will be almost guaranteed.

4. Book At Weekends

If you are booking a city hotel like Washington, Philadelphia, or London City that is used for business, these hotels are likely to be cheaper and less busy at weekends, so you will have a better chance of getting a room upgrade.

5. Risk Bad Weather

Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat a Four Seasons hotel is one of the very best Four Seasons in the world. It is also one of the most expensive, but in the shoulder season in October and at the start of the season in March and April, this fabulous hotel is at the start and end of its season and is cheaper and less full. In fact, at these times, you are in with a brilliant chance of getting that room upgrade.

6. Book A Partial Sea View To Get A Sea View

If you are traveling out of the main season and have followed all my handy hints and tips above, then you are in with a very good chance of getting a room upgrade, but remember, a room upgrade from a mountain view room in, for example, the Maui Four Seasons, will not get you a room upgrade to the Sea View or Ocean Front room.

Your upgrade will be to a Garden View room. So, if you desire the Ocean View, make sure you book the category below your ideal room rather than the standard room. Remember, if you are fortunate enough to get the room upgrade, it is usually only a one-level room upgrade that the hotel gives.

7. Do Good

Occasionally, Four Seasons hotels give out multi-level room upgrades. One of my clients worked for Médecins Sans Frontières or Doctors Without Borders, doing good in 3rd world countries. She booked with our concierge, and I highlighted this selfless work to Four Seasons before her stay. The result? A free room upgrade from the standard room to a suite! The hotel wasn’t full, and the management was particularly generous, but if you do good, highlight this when you book, as it might help to snag you that elusive “more than one level” room upgrade.

8. Become A Regular

I have one client who stayed almost 6 months at a particular Four Seasons hotel, and guess what? He got a great room upgrade. If you frequent a Four Seasons hotel on a regular basis, you are more likely to get an impressive room upgrade.

9. Book Your Upgrade With A Four Seasons Promotional Offers

There are deals at Four Seasons hotels that you can take advantage of, such as second, third, or fourth night free, depending on the season. These 3 for 2 and 4 for 3 vouchers can be an incredible deal if you have a specific Four Seasons hotel in mind and are flexible on when you want to visit. These offers can be found on the offers tab on the Four Seasons hotel homepage menu bar. Each hotel has its own specific offers page.

These Four Seasons deals can be combined with our perks and benefits, including the room upgrade. Just book via our concierge, and we will let you know what deals are available for your chosen dates.

10. Book Your Upgrade With Loyalty Points

Of course, point 10 is a trick! There is no Four Seasons loyalty program, so booking with our own Luxury Travel Concierge offers the best way to get benefits and perks, much like a loyalty scheme, at the same rates as you pay by booking directly on the hotel’s website.
