Marrakech is a great option for some winter warmth. This captivating city has historical sites to explore and fascinating ‘souk’ markets to browse, shop, barter, and ultimately get totally lost in! Smell the spices in the labyrinths of souks, and taste gloriously flavorsome tagines while sipping a mint tea. These are just some of the delights to entice you to the charismatic city of Marrakech.

Below we have outlined the top 10 best luxury hotels in Marrakech in Morocco, giving you the best possible experience during your stay in this magical city.

1. Ryad Dyor

If you want to experience the true authenticity of Marrakech, I can think of nowhere better than in one of the many luxury Riad hotels. The question is only, which should you choose?

One of our top choices is Ryad Dyor, a luxury hotel riad that lives and breathes the art of the boutique hotel experience. Found right in the heart of Marrakech, this hotel is an oasis in the Medina and a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Considered one of the top hotel riads in Marrakech, Ryad Dyor is a unique hideaway that oozes style and tranquillity and is known for its attentive staff, personalized service, and opulent surroundings.

Located by the brightly colored markets in the Marrakech Medina, with the first souks and all the popular sites of Marrakech City right on the doorstep, the hotel features ten unique suites, a private hammam, and a roof terrace.

Regarding dining, Ryad Dyor is very proud of the excellent yet traditional home cooking it offers with its Moroccan-style in-house dining service. Guests can expect Moroccan cuisine in riad family-style, created using the very freshest, local ingredients and the quality herbs and spices Marrakech is famous for.

Authentic dishes include lamb or chicken Tagine with prunes and apples and delicious Couscous Royal with seven vegetables. In keeping with their style of personalized hospitality, the chefs are also more than happy to create a special dish to suit specific dietary requirements.

The hotel also boasts a Hammam spa steam room featuring heated marble benches and walls and a plunge pool for luxury pampering with a truly Moroccan touch. Guests can also book a relaxing hammam massage treatment or slip into the hot tub for two, followed by a cooling dip in the hotel plunge pool in the courtyard.

2. Mandarin Oriental Marrakech

Mandarin Oriental Marrakech lies in 20 hectares of fragrant gardens and gnarly olive groves and yet this five-star luxury resort is only minutes from the city center.

Inspired by Berber and Moorish influences, the 54 luxurious villas and nine spacious suites make this hotel almost boutique in size and certainly exclusive. Each villa features its very own secluded wall garden, swimming pool, hot tub, and an extensive area for sunbathing and shaded alfresco dining.

Their nine suites come with their own rooftop plunge pool and boast stunning views of the gardens and countryside. Architect Pascal Desprez worked alongside renowned French architects Patrick Gilles and Dorothee Boissier to develop a rustic yet sophisticated finish. The final look is elegant yet stylish with obvious Berber and Andalusian-Arabic influences.

The hotel also plays host to a number of restaurants and bars. The Mes’Lalla restaurant serves traditional Moroccan cuisine with a contemporary twist under the leadership of renowned Chef Meryem Cherkaoui. Le Salon Berbère boasts stunning views over the resort’s blue and green pools and the Atlas Mountains, serving traditional Moroccan and international breakfast, drinks, and light bites throughout the day.

Guests can also indulge at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, a unique experience featuring spa suites with private terraces and gardens designed for outdoor treatments. The spa includes two luxurious hammams, an indoor heated pool, a fitness center, and a yoga studio.

Bathe to the calls for prayer from the minarets and the scent of jasmine. If you let it, this city will enchant you, and the Mandarin Oriental is the perfect escape. A peaceful and serene paradise under the warmth of the Moroccan sun.

3. Four Seasons Marrakech

In a great location in the heart of Marrakech, just a five-minute drive from the vibrant buzz of the ancient Medina, the Four Seasons Marrakech offers an oasis of relaxation and calm. Set in 17 hectares of beautiful gardens, guests could be forgiven for forgetting that they are, in fact, surrounded by the bustle of the city.

Aiming to bring guests the best of old and new, traditional Moroccan-style architecture blends beautifully with the stunning modern design of the pool area. At the same time, the grounds are full of attractive courtyards, fountains, palm trees, and olive trees. The luxurious décor is mostly light, bright, and modern, mixed with more traditional furniture and artifacts.

The resort offers a wide range of accommodations, from superior deluxe, premier, and pavilion rooms to a variety of suites. Whichever room you go for, you’ll be guaranteed a private balcony overlooking the hotel’s lovely grounds, the historic Menara Gardens (located next door), or the Atlas Mountains.

King-size beds and marble bathrooms with walk-in rain showers add to the luxurious feel of the surroundings, while additional beds or adjoining rooms are available for families. Room Tip – Ask for a room with a view of the Atlas Mountains – truly spectacular!

4. Amanjena

Amanjena (Aman means “peaceful” in Sanskrit; jena is Arabic for paradise) lies within an oasis of palms and olive trees close to the ancient city of Marrakech. Amanjena is the first Aman resort on the African continent. Amanjena’s rose-blush walls mirror Marrakech, known in Arabic as Al Medina al-Hamra (the red city). The resort’s design emulates the old Moorish pisé (packed earth) buildings and the Berber villages that cling to the High Atlas Mountains.

The resort’s 32 pavilions and 8 Maisons and Al-Hamra Maison are set within an oasis of palms and mature olive trees. All of the resort’s 32 air-conditioned pavilions include a bedroom-living room and a spacious bathroom and dressing area. The living area consists of a high, domed ceiling, a king-size platform bed, and an open fireplace. Brass lanterns and Berber carpets discreetly reinforce the Moroccan theme. Furnishings include a daybed with an accompanying table and chair.

The suites have a mini-bar, a CD player, and a TV/DVD, while green Moroccan marble and a soaking tub in a garden setting highlight the bathroom. Each pavilion has its own private courtyard, along with a pillared minzah (gazebo) and a fountain.

Amanjena’s six two-story Maisons rise seven meters from floor to ceiling in a variation of the Moroccan townhouse, with tonnes of second-floor windows looking inward as if to a garden courtyard.

Specializing in local Moroccan and International cuisine, the Restaurant features a scalloped onyx fountain ringed by date palms, 80 onyx columns, wood screens, and a pyramid skylight. It is open for dinner. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the Thai Restaurant, which offers Thai cuisine indoors and in a garden courtyard. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments are served at the Pool Terrace. The Bar (and fumoir) features smoke-tinted mirrors, old Berber daggers, and Arab swords.

Amanjena’s heated outdoor 33m swimming pool is finished in green tiles and bordered by hibiscus flowers. There is a separate shallow pool. The hammam or steam bath is central to Moroccan life. Unsurprisingly, it has pride of place at the heart of the Amanjena Health and Beauty Centre. Showers, washrooms, a changing area, and a glassed-in whirlpool complement each hammam (one each for men and women).

Other facilities include the Library, with a six-meter ceiling and fireplace, two tennis courts lit for night play, and one boutique within the cedar-ceiling colonnade that follows the swimming pool.
