The answer when we originally wrote this article was no. There was no Four Seasons hotel in Muscat or anywhere in Oman. But I am delighted to report that a Four Seasons hotel will be opening in Oman soon!
Leading luxury hospitality company Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group), the executive arm of the Sultanate of Oman for tourism development, have just announced plans for the upcoming Four Seasons Resort and Private Residences Muscat, Oman.
The luxury development will comprise an urban-style resort, perfect for business travelers or leisure guests looking to visit the historic sights of Oman’s capital city, offering a rare opportunity to relish in the relaxing mountain and seaside setting.
For those looking to make Four Seasons part of their everyday lifestyle, the project will also include a collection of Private Residences with sweeping views of the Sea of Oman.
Four Seasons Resort and Private Residences Muscat, Oman will be created through the redevelopment of a former yacht club and marina into 200 rooms and suites and 100 Private Residences.
Guests and residents will enjoy access to a private beach, five dining outlets, and both indoor and outdoor pools with cabanas. In addition to water sports offered at the onsite beach, the resort will provide many additional activities for travelers of all kinds to experience through its tennis center, spa, and fitness facilities, and for younger guests, through a dedicated Kids For All Seasons and young adults center.
The property will also feature extensive indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces, as well as a bride’s room, business center, business departure lounge, and prayer rooms.

Where Should I Stay Until Four Seasons Opens?
The five-star Chedi Muscat is the most elegant and stylish resort in the greater Muscat area (with prices to match). It features in our best luxury hotels in Muscat, Oman, along with some cheaper hotel options.
Chedi Muscat is located on 21 acres of tranquil gardens at the foot of the rugged Al Hajar mountain range. The neatly manicured gardens offer an elegant mix of Omani architecture and an Asian Zen-style. The resort is edged by 370 meters of pristine (if not overly attractive) private beachfront, which slopes into the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf of Oman. The Chedi Muscat is Oman’s only member of The Leading Hotels of the World and has to be one of the most stylish, minimalist resorts in the world. The lobby is particularly memorable as it is inspired by a Bedouin tent! The resort is convenient to get to with just a 15-minute transfer from the Muscat International Airport and a 20-minute transfer to Muscat’s business center, but there is not much directly around the hotel.
Sparkling waters, vibrant gardens, and dramatic mountains can be enjoyed through the grand windows in all 158 of its tasteful, well-appointed guestrooms and suites, offering panoramic views of the gardens or the Gulf. Unfortunately, none of the rooms have outside space or balconies, and none feature a sunken bathtub with the exception of the more expensive Club Suites. If you like a big bed, don’t book the smallest rooms (category ‘serai’) as they come with a queen-sized bed rather than a king-sized bed.
There is also a stunning signature spa, diverse cuisine, and attentive service at this luxury resort. Three outdoor temperature-controlled swimming pools, with 2 of them being adults only, will tempt you into the water, including the infinity Chedi Pool and the 103-meter long pool (pictured above), the region’s longest pool and a brilliant pool if you like to swim for exercise, as you can just keep on swimming!

Afternoon tea & snacks are served with cocktails & canapés are available from early in the evening.
Breakfast is served in the main restaurant and is excellent.
The club lounge itself isn’t huge, but it is lovely. My favorite features are the outdoor seating in addition to the indoor seating area. The evening buffet is the opposite of an all you can eat affair, in a good way. There are lots of high-end small dishes like sushi, Thai beef, Indian mains, and delicious cheeses, enough to fill you up. The value is offered in the evening if you drink alcohol, as the cocktails, spirits, wine, and beers are all complimentary, along with soft drinks. Disappointingly, the club lounge closes at around 8:00 pm, so you need to transfer to the bar or restaurant for the remainder of your evening.
The lounge upgrade is well worth paying for because of the outdoor space. I can’t think of a better place to start your evening off.
