Where Should I Stay?

If you are after large and big brand, choose the InterContinental Cartagena, located on the waterfront Bocagrande. The InterContinental Cartagena de Indias offers seaside sophistication and upscale amenities.

With a privileged location in waterfront Bocagrande, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the city, InterContinental Cartagena is a few blocks from the beautiful bay of Castillogrande, five minutes from the old city, and 15 minutes from Rafael Núñez International Airport.

The rooms here are stylish and modern with hardwood floors and floor to ceiling windows. Book a Club Room and you will have access to their InterContinental Club Lounge which offers breakfast, snacks during the day, and evening drinks and canapes.

There have been very few reviews of the executive club lounge at this InterContinental but you can see what we have experienced in terms of food and drink at the club lounge at InterContinental O2 in London (pictured above) and the club lounge at InterContinental Park Lane which will give you an idea of what to expect. This will undoubtedly be one of the best club lounges the city with a substantial hot and cold buffet and a la carte breakfast and evening canapes and alcoholic drinks.

Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena is a more historic option and is really special with just 123 beautiful guestrooms. It is one of the best luxury hotels in Cartagena.

Originally built as a convent in 1621, the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena is a legendary landmark in the heart of Cartagena’s walled city. Transformed into a luxury hotel in 1995, the Sofitel Santa Clara, unique in style, combines the allure of history with the art of French savoir-faire.

Mixing Colonial and Republican-style architecture with modern comfort, the hotel features gourmet cuisine, exceptional service, a world-class spa, meeting facilities, and state of the art technology for events, conventions, and weddings.

After more than a decade in service, the hotel has been recognized as the “Best Hotel in Colombia” in Travel + Leisure’s Spanish edition. Guestrooms are distributed along a Colonial and Republican wing and overlook the Old Town, the Caribbean Sea as well as the hotel’s poolside and interior courtyards. In terms of dining, “El Claustro” (cloister) restaurant has a brasserie atmosphere and fare. Guests can enjoy delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner either buffet style or à la carte. Open from 6:30 am daily. Another great option is “El Coro”, named after its convent’s choir, and offering an exclusive lounge bar offering signature cocktails, cigars, and live music from Thursday to Saturday.
