Why We Love This Hotel

Aside from the spectacular views and exceptionally friendly staff, we love this resort for the diverse range of accommodations it has to offer. From romantic hideaways and cottages to swish upmarket townhouse apartments and smart hotel-style rooms, there really is something to suit everyone.

Location

This secluded oasis sits on the shores of Loch Fyne in Argyll, Western Scotland. Offering world-class marina facilities as well as fabulous accommodations, the site is built on an area originally intended for oil rig construction. Today the tranquil resort makes an ideal location for everyone. Whether you are a family looking for value-for-money accommodation and activities, or a couple seeking a romantic getaway, Portavadie has it all!

Best Time To Visit

With its temperate maritime climate, Portavadie is an all-year-round destination. Summer tends to be warm rather than hot, and winters can be cool to cold. So whether you are wanting to take a lazy stroll around the loch on a warm summer’s evening or preparing to wrap up warm for a romantic walk on a crisp Autumn day, Portavadie is the ideal choice for any season.

How To Get There

Beautiful Portavadie is a two-hour drive from the city of Glasgow. With its striking hills, glens, rugged coast, and ancient forests, the journey is extremely picturesque, so be sure to take your camera, as you will want to make plenty of photo stops along the way. If you want to reach Portavadie by public transport, then you can take a train from Glasgow Central to Gourock and connect with the ferry from Gourock to Dunoon. Once you have arrived at Dunoon ferry terminal, you can catch a bus to Portavadie. Please be sure to check timetables to plan your journey, as services can be infrequent.

Style & Character

Sleek, modern, and contemporary interiors will greet you, along with exposed stonework and polished wood, all combining to create a natural, calming space that reflects the beauty of the surrounding lochs and mountains. Large picture windows in much of the accommodation create a light and airy ambiance and are perfectly complimented by spacious open-plan living.

Service & Facilities

Portavadie offers a wide array of services and facilities to suit the needs of all its guests. Leisure facilities are second to none and include indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the outdoor heated infinity pool is probably the largest in Scotland!), a toddler pool, and water features. The spa is simply out of this world and offers bespoke signature treatments featuring Decleor and Ishga products to ensure you leave feeling fully revived. There is also a hydro pool, Scandinavian sauna, steam room, and relaxation space. And if you fancy a bit of a workout, there is a fully equipped gym with state-of-the-art equipment.

Rooms

The resort consists of a cluster of buildings offering a range of accommodation. Choose from luxury apartments with their contemporary style and sumptuous living, pretty cottages with incredible views of the marina, or perhaps even the lodge; with its Scandinavian feel and en suite rooms, it is ideal for groups looking for an active break away. Also on offer are studio apartments which are the perfect holiday getaway for two; or for those romantics amongst us, why not opt for one of the couple’s retreats of either Tigh Na Mara or the newly opened Hideaway – just perfect for a secluded break away from it all.

Best Rooms

The luxury Town House apartments are situated right on the waterfront and are the very essence of chic, contemporary style. Spacious open-plan living areas with floor-to-ceiling glass windows offer extensive views across the marina and rolling lush green hills beyond. An absolute favorite feature of ours is your very own private sauna, the pinnacle of indulgence!

Food & Drink

All of the restaurants at Portavadie use fresh local produce wherever possible, and in terms of dining, guests can choose from three fantastic options: the 2 AA Rosette award-winning Marina Restaurant & Bar offers delicious cuisine alongside panoramic views of Loch Fyne, making it one of the best places to eat in Argyll! The light and airy Lodge Kitchen And Bar offers more hearty fare with generous portions of tasty home-cooked style food, while the Leisure Café, found in the spa, provides a great space to chill out on the al fresco terrace overlooking Loch Fyne and beyond.
