Book A Hotel

I have flown with Etihad a number of times and have reviewed their long-haul flights in First Class. My trip reports can be found below. Etihad in First on the A380 is outstanding with onboard showers!

I rate the Middle Eastern Carriers; Qatar, Etihad and Emirates as the top airlines for First Class and have compared Emirates vs. Etihad vs. Qatar Airways to rank which is the best Airline in the Middle East. They all also feature in my top 10 best business class airlines in the world.

If the layover is important to you, I am also a fan of Etihad’s First Class Lounge & Spa in Abu Dhabi. Even if you are traveling in Economy or Business Class, you can pay to use this outstanding lounge.

What Shall I Do With The Etihad Guest Miles I Earn?

One disadvantage (at least to UK flyers) is that, unlike Qatar, Etihad is not a British Airways partner, so you can’t credit the miles you earn to your BA Executive Club account.

If you credit your miles to Etihad Guest, you can redeem for cash via PointsPay, but the value is pretty poor at around 0.4p per mile. A slightly better option is to buy gift cards via Reward Shop. You can buy amazon.co.uk gift cards for around 0.45p per mile. Etihad also offers a family account here. You can combine the miles earned, which means it is easier to build up enough miles to use on an Etihad flight.

Possibly the best option is to credit your miles to SAS instead of Etihad. You can then quite easily redeem these miles across all of the Star Alliance airlines. Star Alliance airlines include Air Canada, Air China, Air India, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, SAS, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Swiss International, TAP Portugal, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines, and United.

Below you will find my most recent flight reviews on Etihad in First Class; you can draw your own conclusions.

In this trip report, I flew in the Etihad Airways First Class Apartment from London Heathrow Airport to Male International Airport (Maldives) via a stopover in Etihad's hub in Abu Dhabi. Etihad Airways Airbus A380 operated the flight from London to Abu Dhabi. Etihad Airways has a brilliant First Apartment on its A380 superjumbos. The First Apartment has a large leather armchair and a separate bed of more than 6 feet. In the trip report below, I will share what it feels like to travel on board Etihad's Airbus A380 in First Class.

I have put together a picture review of the Etihad First Apartments. These pictures were taken on the Etihad A380 from London to Dubai and were kindly shared by Tom, one of our Luxury Travel Diary readers. The nine First Apartments in First Class are private living spaces featuring a reclining lounge chair and an ottoman, upholstered in Poltrona Frau leather, which opens up to become a separate 80.5 inch long fully flatbed.

Emirates has just launched a new Business Class Suite on its B777. Etihad already has one of the best First Class Suites in the World. Both airlines offer a much better First Class than most other airlines, but which should you choose for your next First Class flight? When choosing between airlines, the big question is how they differ in premium cabin class offerings, in their First Class seats and cabins.
