Book A Hotel

Hotel bars offer sophisticated locations for nightcaps or a cocktail. We have picked 10 of the best hotels in the world to sip a cocktail.

The Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons Hotel

It is no secret that The Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons Hotel is one of my favorite hotels in the world to enjoy a pre-dinner beer or to sip a cocktail into the night. This very terrace has been enjoyed by the likes of Winston Churchill and Liza Minnelli and if it was good enough for them….

The staff here offer a combination of Four Seasons love with French sophistication. The nibbles are good, the live band is excellent, the alfresco view across the gardens and out to the Mediterranean is dreamy and the cocktails are magnifique!

Four Seasons Resort Lanai

I love this hotel so much that I will be returning in 2019 even though it is a grueling 11 hours and then another 7 hours and then another 1 hour on 3 planes from London. If I am going to suffer from horrific jet-lag, there is no place I’d rather be! Following a massive refurbishment, the Four Seasons Lanai now offers an excellent decked bar in their Nobu restaurant (pictured above) where you can enjoy a drink under the Hawaiian stars. This remote hotel really is the stuff of dreams.

Four Seasons Maui

A little less remote than its sister hotel in Lanai is the Four Seasons Maui. A piano plays as the sun sets, and the bar area looks out across the pool and beach beyond at this luxury hotel in the resort area of Wailea. Sip a cocktail and then go for a paddle on the warm shores.

Aman Canal Grande in Venice

For historic grandeur, the Aman Canal Grande in Venice is hard to beat. Enjoy your cocktail underneath the ornate ballroom ceilings and let the singing from the gondolas on the Canal Grande waft across you from the open windows… The staff here will make you whatever cocktail that you can dream up. They are that good.

Belmond Cipriani In Venice

Remaining in Venice, the classic Belmond Cipriani hotel was a favourite of the late Michael Winner. This iconic hotel offers alfresco drinks on its lawns looking out upon the lagoon. The numerous gondolas and boats that pass by means that you could never get bored of this view and the place feels more like a club or a garden party than a hotel.

Hotel Hermitage Monte Carlo

In the summer, the iconic Hotel Hermitage Monte Carlo opens up its terrace so that you can enjoy drinks looking out upon the main marina in Monte Carlo. This is my favourite summer drinking spot in Monaco and the city heat means that it remains warm on this terrace until late in the night. If you fancy a light bite, the club sandwiches here are also surprisingly good!

Intercontinental London

This one is my little secret; book a room at this excellent 5-star hotel in London. Pay a little extra for Intercontinental Club Lounge access and enjoy one of the most exclusive lounges in London with views across Green Park, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye. Order a beer or a cocktail and enjoy the car-ballet that dances around the Hyde Park corner roundabout until late into the night. Tony Blair held the door open for me in this lounge, although I am not sure his presence is a selling point!

Mandarin Bar At The Mandarin Oriental, Vegas

The lobby of this Mandarin Oriental is on the 23rd floor along with Twist restaurant and the Mandarin bar, both of which offer 180-degree views. In the Mandarin bar, three walls of dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows offer stunning panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip. Cocktail choices include the Manhattan-inspired Smoke & Mirrors or a Lovers Potion cocktail.

Skyfall Lounge At The Delano

Also in Las Vegas and this one is really high! Las Vegas Skyfall lounge is located on the 64th floor of the Delano hotel-within-a-hotel at Mandalay Bay. With a special Valentine’s Day menu and nibbles, the James Bond-inspired Skyfall provides a 180-degree view of the Strip. It feels so high that you could be in a plane. If you are in Vegas for romance, this would be a great place to propose plus it offers an incredible cocktail list.

Aurelio Lech

The luxury ski hotel Aurelio in Lech is the most luxurious ski hotel I have ever stayed in. Every room is amazing with incredible views because the hotel sits in the middle of the main run back to the village. The staff here will whip you up whatever you like as you sit in warmth. You can almost touch the last skiers of the evening swish swooshing right past the hotel windows as they make their way down the mountain.
