A new, dynamic star is rearing its’ head in the Gulf; Doha is the place to go; visit soon and get there before the masses descend. Must-stay hotel, the luxurious 5-star InterContinental Doha is located on the longest private beach in the city, just minutes from the heart of the city.
The hotel is located in the West Bay Lagoon in one of the city’s most sought-after locations and offers captivating uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf and the glamorous Doha skyline. You are minutes from downtown Doha where you’ll find Doha Exhibition Centre and Doha Golf Club as well as major offices. The concierge will be more than happy to point you in the direction of key sights from the elegant Katara Cultural Village or traditional market Souq Waqif to the bustling luxury of new development The Pearl. Doha itself is very accessible with both British Airways and Qatar Airways flying direct from London in just over 6 and a half hours.
Style & Character
Inside the hotel is elegant, contemporary with a blend of European style with understated Arabic twists. Outside it looks more like a beautifully landscaped, tropical resort than a hotel! Palm trees, turquoise waters and just the beautiful skyline to remind you that you’re actually in a city.
Service & Facilities
For some relaxation and respite during your stay, book into the stunning Spa InterContinental, even the facilities list makes me swoon – 16 lavish treatment rooms, private indoor pool, relaxation rooms, juice bar, sauna, and Jacuzzi; bliss. There’s also a little gem to be found at The Bay Club, at first glance you think this is the name of the gym, and it is this, but it’s also 500 metres of white sandy beach, 2 tennis courts, 2 squash courts, a heavenly freeform outdoor pool with a shady children’s pool, a fitness studio, oh and the gym of course! There’s also a fab range of water sports available and my personal favourite; a 5-metre water trampoline in the lagoon!
All the 375 rooms and suites are chic and beautiful, but I’d strongly advise choosing one of the 120 Club rooms which gains you access to the exclusive Club InterContinental. Located on the Mezzanine floor, the Club makes the most of those spectacular views; come for breakfast, light refreshments, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails, all complimentary of course. It’s also worth requesting a room which takes full advantage of the magnificent panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the skyline of Doha, though to fair most of the views are pretty epic!
Food & Drink
There are 9 award-winning restaurants, lounges and bars at the hotel. Take your pick from Lebanese, Tex-Mex, Greek or International cuisine; there’s a pool bar with an expansive terrace, a chic cocktail bar and the famous Belgian Café which serves Belgian classics such as steaming mussel pots and chunky frites and of course Belgian beer, it’s the place to be in Doha come the early evening when the sun sets over the city.
