New York State has beautiful countryside. You will find deep canyons, roaring waterfalls, wooded mountains and thousands of islands. We have picked the best New York State Parks that you must visit this summer.

Head over to long Island to find Jones Beach State Park bordered by white-sand beaches. This barrier island is less than an hour’s drive from New York City, and in the summer musicians perform at the bandshell and you can walk for 2 miles along the boardwalk.

Two hours North of New York City is Catskill Park where you can go fishing or canoeing on the rivers in the summer and ski pristine mountain slopes in the winter.

If hiking past spectacular waterfalls and over mountainous peaks appeals, head to Letchworth State Park which has been nicknamed the “Grand Canyon of the East”.

Thousand Islands can be found to the far north of New York State. Here you can explore mysterious island mansions, tour local wineries and cruise into the sunset.

Finally and the most well known, is Niagara Falls State Park which attracts millions of visitors. Beyond the falls there are 400 acres of beautiful parkland to explore and enjoy with a picnic.
