Book A Stay

The Atlas Mountains in Morocco are simply breath-taking, huge snowy peaks tower over lush green meadows with olive, lemon and orange groves aplenty. And for an overload of culture, Marrakech is literally on the doorstep so you can have it all; that fabulous mix of sights and sounds to entertain, but also the peace and serenity that comes from being surrounded by natural beauty in a foreign land. Kasbah Bab OUrika is perfectly situated to make the most of its amazing vista; perched on a hilltop in the mountains, overlooking the river below. With flight times from London coming in at around three and a half hours, and the Kasbah only being a 35-minute drive from Marrakech International Airport, you’ll be recharging your batteries in this mountain paradise before you know it.

Hotel

Kasbah Bab OUrika has sensational 360 degree, panoramic views of the river, up to the mountain tops above and right down to the groves in the valleys below; great to take advantage of in the long sunny days but also spectacular at sunset too. The exterior of the building blends perfectly with its environment, and indeed its eco-friendly credentials are important here (and include solar panels, a water recycling system, and a bio-digester), it’s all set in extensive gardens with two courtyards and plenty of sunny spots to relax and appreciate the landscape. Although only built in 2008, there is a rustic feel and as well as fitting in so perfectly, the buildings just feel settled and as if they’ve been here forever. The interior décor is classy and luxurious, think earthy tones with a Moroccan influence so you don’t forget where you are; the textiles and artefacts are locally sourced. The service is charming, friendly and very hospitable. It’s not just us that this place has seduced; Condé Nast Traveller, Fodor, The Guardian and many more have rated or visited the Kasbah and seem to love it just as much as we do.

Rooms

Each of the 21 rooms are uniquely decorated and has its own terrace to make the most of those views. 15 of the rooms are in the main building and another 6 can be found in the gardens. Two of the garden rooms are pool suites would definitely get my vote!

Restaurants & Bars

There’s nowhere quite like the Colonnaded Restaurant for comforting yet contemporary Moroccan cuisine. The seasonal menu is produced using fresh, organic ingredients from local markets and from their very own kitchen gardens. There’s also a bar and lounge area with a fireplace and a selection of board games available.

Pool & Activities

The swimming pool is the place to relax; perfectly secluded with comfortable loungers surrounding it, if you stretch out your arm you almost feel as though you can touch the snowy mountains above you, rather surreal when you’re bathing in the gorgeous heat of the sun! When you do venture out, there’s a lot to explore locally; trekking in the mountains is a must and the local Berber villages are fascinating, the nearest town is Tnine Ourika which has a large market, plus of course, there is the pull of Marrakech itself. There are also a great range of excursions that they can arrange for you; take your pick from camel treks, hot air ballooning, mountain biking, exploring Berber markets, skiing in the Atlas Mountain or a simple yet wonderfully refreshing Berber massage.

Against the exceptionally beautiful backdrop of the Atlas Mountains, the beautiful gem Kasbah Bab OUrika offers a Moroccan treat to revitalise and relax.
