Artist Residence Penzance is one of three properties in the Artist Residence Group by young British hoteliers Justin and Charlotte Salisbury. The quirky, luxury Artist Residence, Penzance is a 6-minute walk from Penzance train station and a 5-minute walk from Jubilee Pool on the promenade.
Review Of The Artist Residence, Penzance
The Artist Residence was designed to be a creative place to stay for the modern-day traveller, and it achieves this perfectly.
This is a warm and friendly place to stay with an emphasis on creative décor, situated on a quiet side street just minutes away from the sea and the local shops and restaurants of Penzance. The hotel is ideally located for exploring West Cornwall.
One third of a trio of quirkily cool sister outposts including hotels in London and Brighton, the Penzance hotel is located on Chapel Street, the most charming street in Penzance’s old quarter. Each room is individually decorated, the ‘House’ rooms designed by Charlotte and Justin themselves with hand-picked furniture and art prints, and a selection of ‘arty’ rooms feature original murals each designed by a different British artist.
The hotel also features an in-house restaurant, bar and cafe, The Cornish Barn. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, chef Gareth Spencer works exclusively with the very best local Cornish ingredients, serving up homemade and wholesome deli options. There is a popular cocktail menu and evening time brings a small plate tasting menu, served straight from the open kitchen for a social dining experience.
The location of this quirky boutique hotel really is super. They have their excellent bar/restaurant downstairs (The Cornish Barn) and just across the road is a very entertaining pub, The Admiral Benbow with an owner who clearly has a penchant for Puss in Boots. The rooms are stylish, with exposed floorboards and comfy beds and the staff genuinely seem happy to see you. If you are looking for an unashamedly trendy hotel in the centre of Penzance, you simply won’t beat Artist Residence.
