Review: The Temple House Chengdu

Book A Stay

I would like to share another exciting luxury hotel opening with you, this time in the Chinese city of Chengdu. The Temple House is a luxury boutique-style hotel in Chengdu near the Taikoo Li shopping district and within walking distance of designer stores.

The Temple House Chengdu is located in the heart of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. It is situated in the traditional Daci Temple area, a historical site filled with cultural relics and ancient buildings.

The hotel is only a short drive to the famous Kuanzhai Alley, Jinli Street and Wuhou Shrine, as well as a number of other local attractions. It is also conveniently located near prime shopping areas, including Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li Chengdu. It takes just 30 minutes to drive from the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Style & Character

The entrance is through a beautifully renovated 100-year-old courtyard building. The old building looks stunning at night, lit up and dotted with vegetation. You are almost stepping back in time while remaining in a chic and luxury environment. All the communal rooms come alive at night. Jing Bar is a lively bar featuring live DJs. Another two restaurants, Tivano and The Temple Café offer similar modern and vibrant designs with lots of wood, leather, booths, and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Rooms are modern, Asian design and minimalist, which contrasts nicely with the richer and more detailed communal areas. If anything, the rooms offer a more generic luxury hotel character compared to the rest of the hotel, which is so packed full of interesting materials, textures, views, and lighting.

Service & Facilities

The Temple House Chengdu offers a range of facilities to ensure its guests have a luxurious stay. These include a 24-hour gym with modern exercise equipment, as well as Saturday morning yoga in the historical courtyard. There’s also a swimming pool, sauna, and the award-winning Mi Xun Spa which is housed within a heritage building and offers a series of unique spa treatments and professional grooming services. A dynamic collection of restaurants and bar are the must-visit additions to the Chengdu dining scene and destination venues in their own right.

There is also complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property and a variety of exceptional venues, from hidden courtyards and heritage buildings, to a dynamic subterranean ballroom and intimate boardrooms.

Food & Drink

The Temple House Chengdu features a dynamic collection of restaurants and bar. MICHELIN-Starred Mi Xun Teahouse serves delectable vegetarian Sichuan cuisine paired with fine tea in the heritage building. MICHELIN-selected restaurant Tivano brings the best of Italian cuisine to life in dynamic and delicious ways. The Temple Café is an all-day restaurant offering Asian and Western food as well as light snacks in bright and vibrant surroundings.

Jing bar features a cocktail bar serving handcrafted cocktails, international spirits and local beer. It boasts an intimate, elegant atmosphere and includes a unique outdoor space with bar and landscaped seating, inviting guests to enjoy the exclusive open areas of The Temple House.

The bar also hosts regular events, such as guest shifts, live music and DJs.

The overall feel of the hotel is urban chic with character, and with just 100 rooms and 42 serviced residences, this is our go-to hotel in Chengdu.
