Book A Hotel

The 10 best hotels to book in the Maldives using loyalty points and miles (including Marriott Bonvoy rewards, Hilton Honors points, and World of Hyatt points) are probably St. Regis, Waldorf Astoria, or the Park Hyatt, but the cheapest is currently the Radisson Blu.

1. The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort

This is our top Marriott branded pick for the Maldives. As you swoop in on your seaplane transfer, The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort appears as a mammoth lobster on the azure waters. This private island getaway, remote even for the Maldives, has daring architecture and rich and diverse marine wildlife that can be enjoyed from the dive center, where marine biologists catalog the biodiversity (dolphins and mantas have been spotted). Hop on a Jet Ski or Seabob, get a lava shell massage in the overwater spa, try antigravity yoga, or charter the Azimut yacht for a sunset cruise. Each of the 77 villas has its own butler for personal pampering.

If you want to redeem your Marriott Bonvoy points here for an overwater villa, you will need to spend between 70,000 and 100,000 Bonvoy points per night as this is currently a rewards category 8 hotel, but do remember that redemption nights are not always available, and even when they are, you still have to pay for your seaplane transfers, which always add to the price of a Maldives holiday, particularly at remote resorts.

If you are paying for your stay and collect points, our luxury travel concierge offers fabulous free benefits at this hotel on top of collecting your Marriott Bonvoy reward points.

2. Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi

Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi is part of the Hilton brand and is therefore worth considering if you are part of the Hilton Honors loyalty scheme. You will be able to redeem your points here, and this is a truly great resort.

Are you looking for the ultimate luxury cast-away? Take a look at this Private Island, featuring a stunning three-bedroom beach villa, two-bedroom overwater villa, four-bedroom residence, five swimming pools, spa, gym, watersports, and a private entertainment clubhouse. The 32,000 square meter island sanctuary comes complete with a dedicated chef and personal concierge to attend to all your needs.

Due to the very special nature of the accommodations at the Hilton properties in the Maldives, only some resort(s) are able to offer upgraded accommodations. Elite Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond Members get alternate benefits:

Hilton Honors GOLD MEMBERS, Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi Benefits:

  • In-villa VIP welcome bottle of wine and fruit basket
  • Complimentary evening selection of beverages crafted by mixologist and sommelier at Peacock Alley
  • 50% special offer on selected beverages at Nava Beach Club late in the evening

  • 50% special offer on selected beverages at Nava Beach Club late in the evening

If you want to redeem your Hilton Honors points here, the standard redemption rate is currently 120,000 per night, but these redemptions are rarely available. Much more widely available is the premium room reward at 799,000 points per night.

3. Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa

Once again, the Park Hyatt is an option if you want to redeem (or earn) World of Hyatt points. Tucked away from the teeming resorts of the dense northern atolls, Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa provides a pure barefoot-luxury experience in the deepest and most conserved atoll in the Maldives. From one of just 50 villas, each with a private deck and direct access to the sea, you can immerse yourself by snorkeling the house reef, going dolphin watching, getting certified at the PADI Dive Centre, and exploring the best dive sites in the atoll; practice yoga at sunrise or learn local recipes in a hands-on cooking class. Dining choices include The Island Grill and The Dining Room, or opt for intimate dinners at The Drift or The Bar.

4. Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is part of the Hilton group and an exotic playground full of possibilities. Seriously, does it get more over the top than the world’s first undersea residence? The other 150 villas and suites are equally surreal, with private sun terraces, plunge pools, and stairs leading straight into the Indian Ocean. At the overwater spa, alchemists work their magic using pure Himalayan salts and essential oils. Curated experiences are truly inspired, from a coral adoption program led by a marine biologist to mastering the art of noodle rolling with celebrity chef Jereme Leung. Conrad is a luxury Hilton Honors brand, so you can look to redeem your Hilton points here if you want an alternative to paying the rack rate.

Due to the very special nature of the accommodations at the Hilton properties in the Maldives, only some resort(s) are able to offer upgraded accommodations. Elite Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond Members get alternate benefits.

5. JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa

We love the JW Marriott Venice and the JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa should be equally luxurious. This family friendly resort edges the azure waters of Shaviyani Atoll.

Find your respite in stylish overwater villas and beach villas with plush bedding, private pools, and decks with stunning views of the shimmering Indian Ocean. Delight your palate with distinctive Japanese, Italian, and global cuisine, along with treetop dining and buffet breakfasts at diverse dining destinations. Discover a wide variety of activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, jet-skiing, and sailing. Children can also enjoy their own adventures in the Maldives at the Little Griffins kids’ club. If you want to redeem your Marriott Bonvoy points here for an overwater villa, you will need to spend between 70,000 and 100,000 Bonvoy points per night as this is currently a rewards category 8 hotel.

6. W Maldives

W Maldives is a luxury 5-star private island resort. Imagine waking up to the sound of the waves drumming against the infinity pool, a wonderland of white-sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and breathtaking reefs. From the moment you step onto this heart-shaped island playground, welcoming infinite days amplified by the only music curator in the Maldives, playful guestrooms, and innovative cocktails and cuisine create a cutting-edge lifestyle experience.

Once again, If you want to redeem your Marriott Bonvoy points here for an overwater villa, you will need to spend between 70,000 and 100,000 Bonvoy points per night as this is currently a rewards category 8 hotel.

7. The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort

The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort is beautifully situated on the Unesco Biosphere Reserve in Baa Atoll, surrounded by the Indian Ocean. This stunning overwater hotel (with overwater rooms) offers an incomparable setting for your Maldives visit.

Retreat to your secluded suite or villa, where you will be greeted by unbroken ocean views, a private deck, and, in select accommodations, a private pool. When you are ready to leave your paradise, sample delicious dining in the restaurants, relax poolside or on the beach, indulge at the wellness spa, play tennis, or explore the resort grounds.

This resort is slightly cheaper if you are burning your Marriott Bonvoy points. You will need to spend between 50,000 and 70,000 Bonvoy points per night as this is currently a rewards category 7 hotel.

8. Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa

Much cheaper in cash price and redemptions, but still with overwater villas, is the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa in the stunning North Malé Atoll. Surrounded by a shimmering turquoise lagoon, pristine white sandy beaches, and swaying palms, this 5-star star family resort sets the stage for unforgettable family vacations.

Located 20 minutes away from Velana International Airport, the resort offers water recreations, including diving, snorkeling, and jet skiing. Nourish your well-being in one of the 176 beautifully designed hotel rooms, overwater bungalows, and ocean view villas, many equipped with private plunge pools. Indulge in diverse and delectable fare at seven restaurants and bars, featuring international cuisine, signature cocktails, and stunning views of the North Malé Atoll. Indulge in a signature treatment in your own spa pavilion at the full-service spa on a private island.

This resort is very much cheaper in points and cash. You will need to spend between 40,000 and 60,000 Bonvoy points per night as this is currently a rewards category 6 hotel. It is worth remembering that the base rooms here are not overwater, so your base point redemption won’t get one of those in-demand overwater villas.

9. Radisson Blu Resort Maldives

Radisson Blu Resort Maldives is a great point redemption option and only recently opened. While it isn’t our most luxurious Maldives hotel, all villas, either beach or overwater, have a private swimming pool.

With seven restaurant options and breakfast being included in your redemption price, a points-based stay can work out rather well, although do bear in mind that transfers are pricy, costing around $450 USD per adult and $225 USD per child (2-11 years) for a return trip.

Radisson Rewards has the maximum rate of point redemptions set at 70,000 points per night, so this is your price, plus around $10 USD in taxes per night. Radisson Rewards is an American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner at the generous rate of 1:3.
