Cyprus’s island country in the Eastern Mediterranean is loved by luxury travelers for its year-round sunshine, sandy beaches, and inspiring ancient architecture. While spending time doing very little on those soft sands is an absolute must, you can also add some exploring and some action into your holiday to make it that bit more memorable.

A highlight near Limassol is the ruined ancient city-state of Kourion in a stunning position on the clifftop, offering incredible Mediterranean views. The site’s centerpiece is the Greco-Roman amphitheater. Built in the 2nd century BC and extended in the 2nd century AD, it has now been carefully restored and is used for open-air musical and theatrical performances throughout the summer.

Other brilliant activities include luxury boat trips to see the picturesque island coastline from the ocean or visiting Paphos Archaeological Park, which is considered one of the most important archaeological sites on the island and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For nature lovers, head to the underwater and explore some amazing dive sites, including the world-famous Zenobia Ship Wreck, located in Larnaca.

1. Columbia Beach Resort

Nestled in a crescent-shaped bay mid-way between Paphos and Limassol in an area that is said to be the birthplace of the ancient goddess Aphrodite, you will find the peaceful Columbia Beach Resort. This resort is perfect for families but also for couples looking to escape, as it has an exclusive and quieter adults-only area.

This superb five-star resort, which is part of Small Luxury Hotels, offers 169 luxurious suites set in distinctly Cypriot architecture. There’s an award-winning spa, two pools, including an infinity pool, gourmet restaurants, and stunning tropical gardens leading down to the shoreline.

With inspiring views, beautiful furnishings, and comfortable beds, all 169 suites reflect the Cypriot landscape and the Mediterranean Sea. Hand-woven fabrics and elegant wooden furniture complement a cream and blue color scheme. Both the pool and sea view junior suites offer wonderful vistas across the resort.

If you can, stretch to an Eagles Nest Executive Suite with a private plunge pool. These rooms are particularly wonderful and sleep up to four guests. These secluded 60m² suites are located on a small hill opposite the resort. You can choose from suites with a private balcony, plunge pool, or a pool.

The six restaurants are all excellent with a choice of Italian, Cypriot, and tapas offerings. Breakfast is delivered in the Atrium or at Bacchus with an extensive buffet of fresh and tasty bread, cereals, eggs, and fruit. In the evening, there are four bars where you can enjoy cocktails or coffees.

Hébe Spa is a dream for spa lovers. A highlight is an inside-outside pool as well as a sauna, whirlpool and steam rooms, gym, and treatment rooms. If you want to wear off your dinner, there are a couple of indoor squash courts and outdoor tennis courts, along with a children’s play area.

Tumbling down a secluded hillside towards the eastern Mediterranean’s infinite blue, the resort’s classical low-rise buildings and Mediterranean gardens are arranged around an idyllic village square complete with a Byzantine chapel.

Newly renovated suites, garden studio suites, junior suites, and villas offer custom-designed Joelle Pléot furniture handmade by local Cypriot artisans, enhancing the hotel’s elegant ‘at-home’ design and sublimely stylish surrounds.

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, facilities are inspired by the surrounding landscape: from the extensive Thalassotherapy program in the luxury Roman-style Thalassa Spa to local, seasonal produce served in five ‘farm-fresh’ restaurants. From the friendly kids club and beach activities to the silver service restaurants, this is a report where you can relax in the sun-drenched hotel gardens, around the pool, or on the beach for days and days.

5. Four Seasons Hotel

Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus is not part of the Four Seasons brand of hotels. But there are plenty of great Four Seasons branded properties across Europe where you can take advantage of loyalty style benefits for no extra cost by booking your next stay via our luxury travel concierge.

In the meantime, this Four Seasons hotel in Cyprus is really rather good despite not being part of this iconic worldwide brand. Stunning guestrooms and a grand foyer will impress. Five gourmet restaurants, an excellent atmospheric Shiseido Spa, numerous pools, including an adults-only infinity-style pool and a children’s area with a water slide, a gymnasium, floodlit tennis courts, and watersports facilities will all keep you busy.

6. The Napa Plaza

The Napa Plaza is an adults only, stylish, and chic four-star hotel in the heart of Ayia Napa. The Napa Plaza Hotel was built in 1989 adjacent to the medieval monastery.

7. Casale Panayiotis

Casale Panayiotis is a welcoming, traditional village, cascading down the mountainside, inviting guests to experience a tangible past now revived in a proud, Cypriot community.

For centuries, the ancient spa village of Kalopanayitois attracted visitors and pilgrims, and in more recent history was a community built around agriculture, the land, and cottage industries. However, the 20th century experienced a drain, as people left their villages to find work in cities and abroad.

Now with 41 guest rooms in 7 houses across the village and cafés and restaurants, villagers have been inspired to invest in their own community, restoring their homes and opening small businesses, and preserving our mountain culture and way of life.

The village of Kalopanayiotis welcomes guests to enjoy the mountains and immerse themselves in daily village life. Wander the trails, relax in the spa, discover local food and drink, meet the people, and live their local culture.

8. SENTIDO Thalassa Coral Bay

Thalassa is the Greek word for “sea.” SENTIDO Thalassa Coral Bay has stunning sea views and great attention to detail. Located on a small peninsula overlooking and adjacent to Coral Bay, on a stretch of approx. 1 km of beach Coral Thalassa Hotel is surrounded by sea from three sides.

10. Crowne Plaza Limassol

The renovated Crowne Plaza Limassol is the closest beach hotel to the city center, Limassol marina, and medieval castle, making it an ideal base for your holiday. It is also currently the only international brand hotel in Limassol, making it an excellent option if you like to collect or redeem IHG® Rewards Club points.

The hotel is perfectly situated with a convenient bus stop 100 meters away, as well as restaurants, bars, and a large shopping center close by. You can reach the Old Town, home to the medieval Limassol Castle, in ten minutes by car or bus. A couple of minutes further along the coast is the Limassol Marina, a hot spot for waterfront dining.

This hotel is all about the pool and private beach. The pool is surrounded by green lawns and beautiful terraced gardens overlooking the sea. The look and feel are modern, and much of the hotel has been recently refurbished. Because it sits on the waterfront, the restaurants and the sea-view rooms enjoy expansive views out across the sea.

All rooms are spacious, clean, and functional, with wooden flooring and stylish furnishings. The sea-view rooms are well worth paying the extra for. In these, you can stretch out on the balcony and watch the sun go up and down and the activities taking place on the seafront.

There are two restaurants at this hotel, including an award-winning Italian restaurant, La Brezza, and three bars where you can enjoy food and drink. Dine on the terrace, enjoy a sunset cocktail looking out to sea.

The outside pool and private beach areas are undoubtedly the hotel’s best assets, but the location means that you can enjoy the waterfront views from most communal areas of the hotel.
