Yet Another Reason To Fly Delta Instead Of United

While Delta continues to offer arguably the best and most caring customer service of the American carriers, United keep taking things away.

United’s latest move is to raise the price of hold luggage and to offer absolutely no additional benefits for the extra money spent. United is increasing its checked bag fees to $30 USD for first bag (and more for some routes).

United says their “purpose is customer service” and that they’re “committed to connecting people, along with their bags, to the moments that matter most.” That’s it. A bunch of wishy-washy text that means nothing.

In the meantime, Alaska Airlines has a 20 minute baggage claim guarantee; if your bags don’t hit baggage claim within 20 minutes of your plane’s gate arrival they’ll give you your choice of 2500 miles or a $25 USD discount on your next flight.

While Delta provides push notifications when the bag is loaded onto the aircraft, arriving at baggage claim.

Now Alaska does not fly many of the routes that United flies, so Alaska isn’t always an alternative to United, but Delta has a similar route map, so this is just another reason to choose Delta over United on routes that they both fly.
