Book A Hotel

information about this post

For the ultimate in convenience when skiing, the luxury traveller simply must have ski in and out access, as well as a beautiful lodge and exceptional views of course; all this and more can be found at the beautiful Eira Ski Lodge in the Spanish Pyrenees.

Location

The Eira Ski Lodge can be found in Baqueira-Beret, which lies right in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees. The lodge is located in Tanau, the highest village in the resort, 200m above Baqueira in the Val D’Aran. Baqueira has 153km of pistes and 35 lifts, as well as extensive off-piste back country skiing and heli-skiing; making the location ideal for both resort skiers and those who want to ski off-piste or go heliskiing. If there are any non-skiers in your group or for a bit of variety you can go dog-sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and relax in the thermal baths. Should you wish to visit the area in the summer months you have 400 square kilometres of national park to explore. Perfect for the active traveller, you can hike, off-road cycle and mountain bike, rock climb or go canyoning and rafting.

The lodge can be easily reached from three nearby airports; Toulouse, Lourdes and Barcelona. Toulouse is the closest and is less than a two hour drive away.

Style & Character

The lodge is housed in a traditionally designed building that fits in with the local area, it enjoys magnificent mountain views. The interior was recently renovated and has a charming rustic look with lots of gorgeous wood and cosy seating perfect for snuggling round the open fire after a day on the slopes.

Service & Facilities

On the ground floor of the lodge there is a huge open plan lounge, dining area with a stunning stone bar. You also have a large terrace and most importantly, that ski-to-door access! There is also a ski hire shop next door and the ski lift is just fifty yards from the front door so it couldn’t be more convenient and you don’t waste anytime traipsing to the slopes! You have the use of five underground parking spaces and complimentary Wi-Fi. Your hosts are more than happy to make any arrangements for you, if you are keen to go off-piste, they can organise guides, they will arrange airport transfers and ski instruction, lift passes and ski passes; nothing is too much trouble basically and they endeavour to make life as easy as possible for you.

Rooms

The lodge can house a maximum of 16 guests. The ground floor has four spacious ensuite double bedrooms and upstairs are four self-contained duplex rooms each with their own sitting room. The lodge would work perfectly for a group of friends or a family who want to ski together but also want their own space to relax too.

Food & Drink

Start the day with a full continental and cooked breakfast to give you plenty of energy for the day’s activities. You can also dine at the lodge and the experienced chef will cook you up a delicious three course feast as well as serving cakes mid-afternoon if the energy levels are waning! Summer months it often switches to a BBQ on the terrace with those mountain views to add to the atmosphere. The chilled après-ski scene here revolves around several restaurants and tapas bars in the resort itself with a livelier atmosphere found further down the valley.
