Book A Stay

A must for 2018; Laos is renowned as one of the ‘hot’ destinations of the year, and for luxury travel, there can be few better places to stay than a luxury boutique hotel Satri House in Luang Prabang in Laos.

Location

Laos in Southeast Asia is packed with mountainous terrain, French colonial architecture, emerald rice fields, and Buddhist monasteries. The magical, ancient city of Luang Prabang is one of the most popular areas to visit and is home to the Satri House Boutique Hotel. The hotel is located a pleasant 9-minute stroll from the Mekong River, right by the Phra Bang Buddha statue and the Royal Palace.

Luang Prabang is a stunningly beautiful year-round destination set on the Mekong River with wonderful Buddhist temples, including the gilded Wat Xieng Thong. Visitors love the famous ritual of giving alms each morning to the monks. The aquamarine Kuang Si waterfalls and caves are well worth exploring; take a boat trip along the Mekong River and shop in the famous night markets.

Style & Character

Satri House was once a Laos Royal Residence and has been cleverly converted into a refined, unique boutique hotel filled with art and antiques. The French Colonial style remains, and the hotel offers a very stylish place to lay your head, somewhere extra special that feels appropriate for this beautiful country. The hotel was refurbished in 2002 and extended in 2008 and today bears a wonderful ambiance, modern but with a style inspired by Lao culture.

Service & Facilities

When you return to this little gem after a day exploring Luang Prabang (you can borrow bikes if you wish) you’ll be very tempted to head straight for the outdoor swimming pool; lay back on a lounger, soak up the beautifully manicured gardens, and pop the Panama (there’s one with your towel on each sun lounger) over your eyes; an altogether divine experience. When you need some real indulgence, the beautiful Spa is a must. It houses a large, romantic Jacuzzi, a cool plunge pool, and an herbal steam room, allowing for a fully therapeutic experience. The treatment rooms are arranged around a lily-filled pond where you can enjoy a massage, body scrub, or facial treatment. The hotel also has a library and even its’ own boat! Yours for an additional fee, it sails the Mekong and is great for events, private sailings, or simply evening drinks.

Rooms

All 31 rooms are gorgeous, elegant spaces with a wonderful combination of grandeur and a homely, welcoming vibe. Decorated with beautifully crafted wooden furniture and antiques and artworks from Indochina, each room has a spacious bathroom with a rain shower. All the usual amenities are present. There’s aircon as well as a fan, a mini-bar, Wi-Fi, a safe, and most have a private oversized balcony or patio. An upgrade to a suite is well worth it for the extra space, the bathtub, and even better, the magnificent 4-poster beds.

Food & Drink

Dinner simply has to be at the elegant, open-air Satri House Restaurant. They serve delectable local Laos delicacies as well as Western and Asian specialties, but it’s the serene atmosphere that descends as you sit back and admire the beautiful gardens that make this place truly special. Afterward, enjoy or drink in the garden bar or retire to the genteel drawing-room.
