Book A Hotel

Saudi Arabian Airlines or Saudia Airlines has an excellent lie-flat First Class apartment-style seat or suite on their B777 planes. In this trip report, I detail the seat which I experienced, not on a flight to or from Jeddah, but at the World Travel Market in London last week. While at the show, I also tried out the Saudia Airlines B777 Business Class seats.

Saudia is the national carrier airline of Saudi Arabia, based in Jeddah. You can fly in their new fully lie-flat First Class Seats on their 777-300R planes both for long-haul travel and also short-haul.

Saudia flies to over 80 cities in Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America from its hubs of Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Medina, and Abha. The top International Saudia destinations include Dubai, Cairo, Istanbul, London, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Paris, Washington, Beirut, and Amman.

The Saudia loyalty program is Alfursan with almost 5 million members.

Saudia Airlines Cabin Arrangement & Suites

The cabin layout is in rows of 1-2-1 seats. The seats within the Suites have sand or camel colored leather surface, loads of storage, and an ottoman at the far side of your suite which could be used by a visitor; two people could dine together on the shared table if one say on the ottoman or footstool seat and the other on the main, throne-like seat.

This Suite is a proper room on the plane and feels spacious. The seat felt huge and when I pulled the doors shut and there was plenty of space in my own, very private “Suite world” (as long as you didn’t stand up and look over the top). I would enjoy flying in this suite, although clearly on this occasion I wasn’t actually flying, and merely visited it for a few minutes.

It is worth noting that behind the First Class cabin on the B777 is a walk-up bar for additional food and drinks, as well as the two First Class bathrooms.

Which Are the Best First Class Seats On The Saudia Airlines B777?

First Class is situated at the front of the cabin and Business Class is just behind, separated by the galley and toilets. Of note, there are 3 different plane layouts, so the layout of the B777 you travel on may be slightly different, although the fundamentals of seat choice should remain the same.

There is little to choose between the First Class seats. Seats labeled A and L are window seats. In the sky, if you pick a window seat, you have 3 windows, which makes them my top seat pick and the best seats on the plane.

If you are traveling in a two you might prefer a center pair as the wall between the seats can be lowered and raised so that you can chat with your neighbor if you choose.

Food in First Class On The Saudia Airlines B777?

The on-board chef will cook you up what you like from the on-board First Class menu including:

  • Roast Potato and Leek Soup
  • Caviar
  • Mezze Selection
  • Western Appetizer
  • Gourmet Salad

Followed by mains of:

  • Lobster Thermidor
  • Biryani
  • Braised Lamb
  • Grilled Chicken Breast

On the sleeper service, you also get a breakfast towards the end of your flight. You can see the menu choices from my pictures above.

Amenity Kit in First Class On The Saudia Airlines B777?

The amenity kit in First Class is different for women and men. Women get THANN lip balm, a THANN facial mist, and a THANN moisturizing cream and face cream, eyeshades, a brush and mirror, earplugs, and toothbrush. Men get a similar selection but from brand ACCA KAPPA 1869 in a hard Porsche Design case.

Travelling Saudia First Class also gets you a pair of snazzy Porsche Design pajamas which are pictured in my scroller above. They are grey and red and look very comfortable, with a Porsche design logo on the material and a Porsche design bag storing them.

Conclusion

Saudia was recently rated by Skytrax as the world’s most improved airline, and this fantastic new First Class Suite with Porsche amenities and onboard chef food offering means that Saudia is now an excellent airline choice if they fly your route.
