Book A Stay

The town of Tavira is the perfect base to explore the beautiful Eastern Algarve in Portugal; less touristy and still packed with long white beaches and sleepy port towns. Where better to stay on a visit here than in a stylish hotel that sits in a fruit orchard within a 36-acre farm with stunning sea and mountain views.

Location

The hotel is located near the town of Tavira in the Eastern Algarve and forms part of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa. Tavira is arguably the most charming town in the Algarve and many a happy hour can be lost browsing its maze of pretty cobblestone streets in search of a shady cafe. You are only 10 minutes’ walk from the towns of Conceição and Cabanas de Tavira for more exploring and, of course, this is the Algarve so there are also three golf courses nearby (Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima and Quinta de Benamor). There’s lots to do in the area and the hotel are happy to assist with any arrangements, choose from; boat tours, dolphin watching, sport fishing, kitesurfing, kayaking, diving, hiking and sightseeing tours.

Style & Character

The boutique hotel of Quinta dos Perfumes was named as such because in the 1960s the area was dedicated to the planting of mallows and the hotel was a factory that distilled the mallow flowers to obtain essences to produce perfume. It’s made up of two separate buildings and became a hotel in 2013. The farm itself is delightful with a large citrus orchard and other smaller arbutus, lemon walnut, fig and carob orchards; it’s really unusual and very memorable to stay right in the midst of the orchards. The hotel is beautifully lit by night and the garden makes for a very pleasant evening stroll. The interior is luxurious and contemporary; calm colours and clean lines with a distinctly Scandinavian air. The guest rooms themselves are light and have views of either the sea or the gardens.

Service & Facilities

The outdoor saltwater swimming pool is heavenly, you will literally find yourself in the middle of an orange grove; it would be hard to find a more relaxing spot for a cool afternoon dip, there’s even a little bar area where you can get a chilled beverage. For further indulgence, ask and they will arrange a massage, or if you’re feeling active, there’s yoga or a personal trainer. The communal areas inside are lovely too; enjoy the sea views from the roof terrace, or relax in the living room with its cosy fireplace. The service is welcoming and friendly, they are very knowledgeable about the local area and do everything they can to ensure you have a really special stay.

Rooms

For accommodation, pick from Studios which also include a small kitchen, Double Rooms, Deluxe Double Rooms or Terrace Deluxe Double Rooms. The luxury traveller should definitely opt for the Deluxe rooms at least, but the Terrace Rooms are really the optimum as they include a lovely terrace with sun loungers and stunning views over the gardens.

Food & Drink

There is a breakfast and dining room which is where the delicious and plentiful breakfast is served; it’s all homemade with breads, pastries, cakes and amazing homemade orange juice. While there’s not a traditional restaurant here, they do serve lunch and the friendly staff are happy to provide food and drink upon request until late into the evening. The nearby town of Cabanas has a good variety of bars and restaurants and the hotel will furnish you with tips of their favourite restaurants in the area.
