Book A Hotel

information about this post

Rolling green hills, medieval villages and Unesco World Heritage recognised vineyards await the luxury traveller in Burgundy, France. The charming, independent Hotel Le Cep in the heart of medieval Beaune is the ideal place to base yourself when visiting the region.

Location

The ideal location of the hotel means you are near the South entrance to the walled city, just minutes away from the famous Hospices de Beaune and the Notre-Dame Basilica. It is a charming town with outdoor cafes lining its small cobblestone streets; you are close to many restaurants and shops and are within walking distance to all the main sights. Beaune lies in the middle of the “Route des Grands Crus”, or “Grands Crus Wine Road”; where more than 600 winemakers will grant you access to their cellars to introduce you to Burgundy wines. Don’t miss seeing the town by night when a lights trail lights up the city, with over 150 lights and 30 monuments lit too, it’s a beautiful and memorable spectacle.

Style & Character

4-star Hotel Le Cep, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is a beautiful, historic gem. The hotel is formed of 2 private mansions which sit around two beautiful historic 16th courtyards; one of which is the location for breakfast on sunny days and a lovely spot for an aperitif later in the day. The hotel, which has been run by the same family for over 30 years, is opulent and glamourous, with antiques that have been passed down through generations and a wonderful art collection.

Service & Facilities

There is an elegant spa, the Marie de Bourgogne Spa; book a visit during your stay and rest your aching bones after all that walking around vineyards! The spa offers over 350 m² dedicated to 14 different sensorial experiences, there’s a Hamman, sauna, sensorial shower and 4 message cabins; one of which is in a panoramic tower and two for couples massages. There’s also a small fitness centre situated at the top of the tower, a delightful French garden, a bar open 24/7, several sitting rooms, Wi-Fi throughout, as well as a private garage and private parking. The loyal team behind the hotel are exceptionally hospitable and warm, and are very happy to advise you on the local area.

Rooms

There are 65 air-conditioned rooms which includes 29 suites; all are uniquely decorated and have their own distinctive style. Aptly, each room is named after a Burgundian village or Grand Cru wine; there are Bourgogne, Village and 1ER Cru rooms, and Nectar or Grand Cru suites. The rooms are beautiful, charming and cosy, several can accommodate an extra bed if required, but for a little more space and a little more style, I would opt for a suite. The 11 Nectar Suites are designed as chic boudoirs; romantic and pretty. For a more classic touch, the Grand Cru suites are elegant and refined; our favourite, Clos Vougeot, has even got its own beautiful 35m² terrace. And if you really want to spread out, there’s also a gorgeous villa for 6 with its own sauna!

Food is a real treat here and will undoubtedly be a highlight of your stay; the Michelin® starred Restaurant Loiseau des Vignes, serves exquisite fine French gastronomy, influenced by the region. There is also 24/7 room service and a plentiful breakfast which you can take in the courtyard, the breakfast cellar or your own room.
