Book A Stay

For a wonderfully central location in the heart of the fabulous, historic city of Rome, check into the Hotel Dei Mellini. Elegant, with excellent service and the huge bonus of being able to walk to all the major attractions.

Location

Hotel Dei Mellini is located in the heart of Rome on the right bank of the Tiber River. Despite the central situation you are tucked away on a quiet and peaceful street so you can get away from the hustle and bustle of this busy city when you return to your hotel in the evening. It’s the perfect base to explore the ‘Eternal City’, you are 10 minutes walk to the Spanish Steps, 13 minutes to the Trevi Fountains and 15 minutes walk to St. Peter’s Basilica. If you wish to shop (and it’s Rome so at least some of your time really should be spent shopping!) then the hotel lies just 5 minutes’ walk from the Via Cola di Rienzo shopping area or 10 minutes’ walk from the Via Condotti and Via del Babuino district which feature major international luxury brands including: Dior, Gucci, Valentino, Hermes, Fendi and Church. The hotel is around 40 minutes from Ciampino or Fiumicino airport, ask about arranging transfers or just jump in a taxi at the airport.

Style & Character

This is an independent hotel with its own charming style. The stunning rooftop terrace is a real highlight and the perfect place to relax and chill out with a chilled beverage after a busy day exploring Rome. The interior is chic with a cosmopolitan flair, a warm colour palate and an abundance of wonderful artwork from a range of celebrated Italian artists.

Service & Facilities

When your feet are about to give up on you after pounding the streets of Rome, book a treatment at the spa and they will pamper you in the comfort of your room, or if you want to upgrade your workout from busy sightseeing to the next level, then the well-equipped gym is the place to go – the views looking over the rooftops of Rome will totally blow you away. The hotel also offers complimentary bicycles so you can explore on two wheels instead of two feet for a change! The staff are attentive, multilingual and very friendly. They also offer a range of little extras to make your life that bit easier; guided tours, a chauffeured car service and a fast check-out option.

Rooms

There are 80 rooms, suites and family rooms at the hotel spread across six floors. Choose from singles, superior doubles, deluxe doubles, junior suites, suites and family rooms. To some extent the size of your party will dictate your choice but, perhaps predictability, I have a real soft spot for the suites; huge with calming views over the inner courtyard, they have several little touches to really make your stay – the welcome bottle of Spumante being my favourite. Request a room on an upper floor for that bit more peace and quiet and lovely views.

Food & Drink

There are lots of spots at the Hotel Dei Mellini where you can enjoy a drink and an aperitif; pick from the lobby, the bar itself or the outdoor patio. The Dining Room serves Mediterranean cuisine during the day, the breakfast is sensational and varies a little each day so there’s also something new to sample. If you want to explore Rome’s restaurants then you are well placed to do so; Vito’s in the same road is lovely and there is both a Japanese restaurant and a Chinese restaurant within walking distance, it’s also a very pleasant stroll across the river to the busier, more touristy areas – ask the staff for their recommendations.
