Book A Stay

A perfect base from which to explore the stunning Musandam peninsula in Oman with its mountains, rugged coastline and fascinating, ancient culture, is the Atana Musandam. The hotel is managed by the Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN) and offers a beautiful, village-like setting with stunning views.

Location

The hotel is located on the northern tip of the Musandam peninsula, bordering the United Arab Emirates. You are just a 10-minute drive from Khasab Airport in Oman, connecting flights from London take around 22 hours or a quicker, and more interesting, option is to fly to Dubai (less than 7 hours from London) and then you are just 160km from the hotel, plus you get the added bonus of visiting Dubai on your way too.

Style & Character

The hotel is inspired by a typical Omani village, with 8 clusters of low rise buildings sprawling right next to the ocean; the effect is quite beautiful. The ambiance is tranquil and relaxed, and the décor clearly reflects the area, but is clean and sophisticated rather than being stuffy. Everything here comes back to the ocean and mountain views which are highlighted everywhere you go.

Service & Facilities

The facilities are great here and include a temperature controlled, huge outdoor freeform swimming pool for adults and children, beautiful grounds, a fitness centre, dive centre, children’s playground, meeting room, as well as a signature restaurant. The bonus of the village layout means that, as well as looking pretty, the majority of the rooms come with private parking right on your doorstep. They really treat you well here and are keen to shower you with traditional Omani hospitality and share you the secrets of this captivating area.

Rooms

There are 110 well-appointed rooms and suites, all which features a private balcony or terrace offering stunning views of the waterway where you can witness the daily routine of the fishermen or simply wonder at the stillness of the sea or mountains. All the rooms include free high-speed wireless internet, air-conditioning, mini-fridge, safe, coffee/tea making facilities, satellite TV and ensuite bathroom. You can choose king rooms, twin rooms and choose whether you want a balcony or terrace so there’s lots of flexibility. Personally, the suites appeal to me, there are 4 Junior Suites and 6 Musandam Suites which are huge at 87 m² and offer the most luxurious finish as well as two private terraces or balconies; I do like to be spoilt when on holiday!

Food & Drink

Al Mawra Signature Restaurant offers delicious, all-day dining with international and traditional Omani and fusion cuisine in a stunning, authentic room or you can also sit outside and enjoy those views. Room service is also available and there’s the option to be extra involved in your dinner with the ‘Fresh Catch of the Day’ activity – catch your own fish from the Musandam sea and they will cook it to your preference! The local town of Khasab also has a good range of restaurants, most of which centre around seafood and fresh fish.
