Book A Hotel

In this article, I outline the top 5 best luxury hotels, near Krabi or Phuket International Airports in Thailand, with private pools or infinity pools. There is nothing better than swimming in your own private space or marveling at how the blue of the infinity pool merges with the blue of the sky. Here is my pick of the best hotels to help you to achieve the ultimate poolside dream.

1. Crown Lanta Resort, 1h30 from Krabi Airport

Koh Lanta is a peaceful and culturally rich island offering miles of white sand beaches bordering rugged tree-covered hills and mangroves. Crown Lanta Resort & Spa which also features in our top 5 best hotels and resorts on Koh Lanta, is a beachfront resort that stretches across 22 hectares of gentle hills which lead down to dramatic cliffs overlooking the sea. An intimate and private white sand beach sits in front of the resort and there is also direct access to the famous 3km long Klong Dao Beach.

83 generously-sized rooms surround the two resort pools. Ocean Private Pool Villas offer a private infinity-style swimming pool and breathtaking panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and Phi Phi Island. Enjoy the tastes of Thailand at the on-site restaurants, and be pampered at the rejuvenating Infinity Spa. In the evenings, sit beachside at the Reggae Bar and enjoy a cocktail while experiencing one of the best shows on the island – the sunset.

2. COMO Point Yamu Resort, 45 minutes from Phuket Airport

Point Yamu by COMO is a luxury resort located at the tip of Cape Yamu overlooking the Andaman Sea and the dramatic limestones of Phang Nga Bay. Interiors by Italian designer Paola Navone offer a unique expression of contemporary Thai luxury. Facilities include a COMO Shambhala wellness retreat and two world-class restaurants for Thai and Italian cuisine.

The Verandah Pool Suites each have a four-poster bed, a living room, a verandah with comfy loungers, and a private aqua-tiled infinity pool, where you can watch the sunrise.

The impressive 100m main infinity pool has sun loungers overlooking Phang Nga Bay; lie back and enjoy the fruity icy poles that are regularly brought to guests. The pool is perched by La Sirena restaurant where you can order lunch to your sunbed.

The cliffside location of this hotel means spectacular Andaman Sea views, but not direct access to a private beach. However, the resort does have a private COMO Beach Club, 40 minutes by complimentary boat shuttle from the hotel.

3. Rayavadee, 25 minutes from Krabi Airport

Set on the sun-kissed limestone Phranang Peninsular on the edge of Krabi Marine National Park, Rayavadee nestles discreetly amidst tropical gardens and coconut groves against a backdrop of sheer cliffs, lush jungle foliage and the clear waters of the Andaman Sea.

The large communal lagoon-style infinity pool (pictured above) is encircled by verdant landscaped gardens and looks out onto the sea. Garden-endowed Spa Pavilions offer a private outdoor Jacuzzis and all Rayavadee’s pavilions include large couple’s bathtubs and snuggly-cushioned wooden swings instead of sofas.

Rayavadee also boasts four eateries, each with a bar. Krua Phranang is the best choice for Thai seafood dinners by the beach. Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, the resort makes the perfect Thailand honeymoon destination.

4. Amanpuri, 30 minutes from Phuket Airport

It is no secret that I love Aman Hotels. You can read about my recent trip to Aman Grand Canale Venice which was also utterly romantic.

Amanpuri is tucked away in Surin beach alongside a beach that can only be reached via the hotel or by boat, keeping it almost completely private. This hotel is beachside rather than cliffside so there are no infinity views from the black-tiled swimming pool. Instead, the pool looks through swaying palms and out over the Andaman Sea. A stone staircase leads to Pansea beach, a rustic-chic restaurant, more swimming pools, a watersports center, and tennis courts. An excellent spa is tucked away on the other side of the resort, overlooking Bang Tao beach.

Amanpuri’s rooms are what is special here. The Garden Pool Pavilion plunge pools have to be the most secluded and private hotel swimming pools in Thailand. Don your bikini (or not) and splash in utter isolation. It is also worth noting that pavilions 103 and 105 have the most striking sea views.

5. Paresa Resort, 45 Minutes from Phuket Airport

With beaches and luscious forests that seem to wrap all around you, Paresa Resort is nestled in tropical forests and perched high above the ocean. It offers stunning panoramic sea views.

The design is an unusual mix of the Southern Thai style with a modern influence; pavilion-style ceilings and rich timber finishes help create a clean, spacious atmosphere. The general mood is calm, understated style and sophistication.

With every room offering stunning ocean views you are spoilt for choice. Most come with a private infinity pool with heavenly views across the Andaman Sea and large sunny balconies with four-poster sun loungers. This is really all you need to melt away your stresses and watch the blissful sunsets. For an occasional change of scenery, Paresa’s main 25-meter saltwater infinity pool is impressive, with a poolside bar to add to the glamour.
