Costa Esmeralda in Nicaragua is steadily becoming a much sought after travel destination. Still relatively unspoiled and boasting beautiful beaches, a wealth of watersports and stunning tropical forests, it’s also the safest country in Latin America after Chile and a popular choice among celebrities. In recent years, some outstanding luxury resorts have been established in the area, including Meson Nadi, a tastefully designed boutique hotel in a prime position to enjoy some of the best surfing the region has to offer. Various airlines offer flights from London Heathrow to Managua, including American Airlines, British Airways and Delta. Most flights include one stop and journey times range between 15 and 17 hours. Meson Nadi is located around a two and a half hour drive from Managua Airport, and organising a transfer from the hotel is highly recommended.

Hotel

Meson Nadi balances contemporary design with features of traditional Latin American housing and is in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment, boasting the use of natural materials and collaboration with the local communities. Situated in an ideal position in one of Costa Esmeralda’s most beautiful bays, it’s just twenty metres from the beach and offers a restaurant and bar, 15 meter pool with kids area, yoga and surf lessons and much more.

Rooms

Sleek lines, Bauhaus design and traditional Latin American touches combine to give the suites at Meson Nadi their unique character. Each one features a garden and either pool or ocean views and each is furnished with antique furniture and artwork. Ranging in size from 34 m2 to 48 m2, all suites boast luxurious king size beds, air conditioning and ceiling fan, cable TV, Wi-Fi, daily maid service and open air inside garden. Bathrooms feature rain showers and are well stocked with organic toiletries. Room Tip – Garden Suites are a popular choice.

Restaurant and Bar

La Cantina is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a variety of options, from a bar menu of cocktails and light snacks to more substantial fare. Vegan and gluten free dishes are available, and you can even arrange to have a private barbeque in the garden. The cuisine is a modern fusion of Central American and Western flavours and produce is fresh and local.

Pool and Activities

In addition to the peaceful swimming pool, Meson Nadi offers a wealth of activities to take advantage of. It’s in a dream location for surfers, with four breaks within walking distance and a further 12 accessible by 4×4 or boat. Meson Nadi’s knowledgeable guides can offer lessons to beginners as well as assistance to more experienced surfers. Yoga lessons are also available at the hotel, or alternatively you can host your own yoga retreat there. If you simply want to enjoy your beautiful surroundings, consider a catamaran tour or fishing trip, taking in the crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches of the Costa Esmeralda. Back at Meson Nadi, indulge in a spa treatment or two and ask about the wide variety of other tours on offer to enable you to explore a little more of this unspoiled paradise.

Insider Info

The best time to visit Meson Nadi, and Nicaragua in general, depends a lot on your personal preferences. Temperatures tend to remain around 28˚C to 30˚C throughout the year, but there is a rainy season between May and October, with September and October seeing the worst of the weather. While many visitors prefer the dry season, the wetter weather does offer beautiful greenery and great surfing, so it’s really up to you!
