Book A Stay

In this article, I review Far Pavilions luxury villa 2, in the most idyllic location in Port Douglas, on the Coral Sea in the tropical far north of Queensland, Australia. With attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, and Cape Tribulation all close by, there’s no shortage of things to explore in this tropical travel destination.

Far Pavilions Luxury Villa 2 makes a fantastic base when staying here. It’s situated in the center of the village, with restaurants, cafes, shops and a harbor all within walking distance, not to mention the famous and stunningly beautiful Four Mile Beach. Various airlines offer flights between London Heathrow and Cairns International Airport, including Emirates, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, and Qantas. Travel time is usually more than a day and includes two stops. Far Pavilions is located in the heart of Port Douglas, an hour’s drive north of Cairns. Shuttle buses and hire cars are available from the airport.

The Villa

Set in an enviable location on Flagstaff Hill, the villa is designed in a modern, open-plan pavilion style to make the most of the tropical climate, with bi-fold doors leading to spacious balconies which boast beautiful views of Port Douglas. Finished to an exceptionally high standard, the villa offers a fully equipped kitchen, and comfortable living and dining areas. Guests will enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, two full HD TVs, air conditioning throughout, and fully equipped laundry facilities. All linen and towels are provided and there is secure parking for one vehicle.

Accommodation

The villa has three bedrooms – two with queen size beds and one with twin beds which can also be made up as a queen-size if preferred. The master suite features its own ensuite bathroom and there is a second bathroom to be shared between the other two bedrooms – this one has a sunken bathtub. Both queen rooms boast their own private balconies and beautiful views of the tropical mountain range.

Pool and Outdoor Area

Far Pavilions Luxury Villa 2 is well equipped for relaxed outdoor living, boasting a private saltwater swimming pool that is heated throughout the winter months so that it can be enjoyed all year round. There is also space for sunbathing and outdoor dining and barbecue facilities are available.

Things to do in Port Douglas

Port Douglas is well known for its beautiful beach resorts, notably Four Mile Beach, which is located just a short walk away from the villa. It’s a great place to stay when exploring the Great Barrier Reef, and there are plenty of scuba diving and snorkeling tours available to take advantage of. There is also a marina with plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes to enjoy. If you feel like doing more of your exploring on land, make sure you visit the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation. Younger visitors are sure to enjoy the Wildlife Habitat with its koalas, kangaroos, and other native animals, as well as the Bally Hooley Steam Railway.

Insider Info

May is a great time of year to visit Port Douglas. Earlier in the year, you may have to be careful with regard to jellyfish, but they should be gone by this time. Also, the wet season will have come to an end and the heat shouldn’t be too intense either. Finally, this month should be reasonably quiet as it’s just before peak season begins in June. An ideal time to visit!

Far Pavilions Luxury Villa 2 is a beautiful place to stay right in the heart of Port Douglas.
