Alpine Palace Review, 5 Star Luxury In The Mountains

Book A Stay

A mountain holiday, whether to take advantage of the endless fun snowy peaks offer or perhaps for mountain biking or hiking in warmer climates, makes an exciting and active change from cities and beaches. A fabulous spot from which to make the most of mountain living is the 5-star Alpine Palace in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Salzburg, Austria. Salzburg is the nearest airport being 90km away and you can fly from London is a little under 2 hours, the hotel will assist with arranging transfers.

Alpine Palace, a New Balance Luxus Resort, is a gorgeous, funky, luxurious treat of a hotel with exceptional wellness facilities, delectable award-winning cuisine and fabulous design features everywhere you look. The hotel offers a Gourmet 3 / 4 board option which not only includes your food but also access to a range of services, be it live music, child-care, a skiing day, use of the cable car facilities, guided walks, etc, etc!

The rooms are a spacious 45 m², with larger suites at 50 or 60 m². All the rooms are beautiful, well designed and offer a living area, ensuite bathroom, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, radio, safe, mini-bar, bathrobe and slippers; a bottle of Grander spring water in your room on arrival. The theme suites are rather fun and competitively priced so they are well worth considering. The Black & White Suite would get my vote, although not the biggest, it’s so stylish and reminds me of a glamorous film set!

Restaurants & Bars
Well, gourmet has to be the key word used to describe the food and the surroundings again benefit from the fabulous theme décor. Aside from the main restaurant (which in itself is elegant and offers both Austrian and International dishes), take your pick from the more traditional “Rauchkuchl” restaurant, the nostalgic (and award-winning) “Skimuseum” restaurant or “Arte Vinum” a restaurant in the wine cellar. And your après ski (or hike) location is sorted as there’s a choice of excellent bars; the sky bar, a cocktail bar, casino bar, Winter Garden and also a Cigar Lounge.

For your active holiday, this really is the perfect location; the hotel is right next to the Reiterkogel Gondula station, you can literally ski or bike right in and out of the hotel! In the winter months be sure to make use of the hotel’s own “Snow & Fun” ski school. You can build your own tailored package to include the sport and active pursuits that you require. For a bit of recovery and recuperation, the 2,000 m² New Balance Alpine Spa has truly impressive facilities including 9 different saunas (herbal sauna, Finnish sauna, brine steam room, classic steam room), infra-red cabin, indoor pool, waterfall shower with ice fountain, relaxation rooms (Alpine beach, quiet room with water beds, relaxation room with pine tree stumps), heated stone loungers as well as a fitness room. Outdoors you will find a brine pool with 60% salt, hot tub, and the Troatkasten with its Finnish sauna and first-floor relaxation room with 360° views of the mountains.
