Ever since I was a child, one of my favorite parts of this beautiful country has been Cornwall. Its stunning scenery, beautiful villages, growing gourmet reputation, and the fact that it feels just a little bit tucked away all make it a very special place to holiday. The wild, passionate mood that Cornwall conjures up seems to make it perfect for a self-catering stay – having that little bit extra freedom and the space to make your own is ideal. But it’s also essential that your self-catering bolthole is one with luxury, comfort, and style, and that’s where Beachspoke comes in. Offering a range of beautiful boutique coastal escapes, this is your home-away-from-home in Cornwall.
Cottages
Each of the 1 bedroom cottages is unique and offers a style and class all of their own. All include Wi-Fi and all the usual amenities and facilities that you would expect.
Black Moon – a striking cottage hideaway awaits with a stunning view overlooking the bay towards Gwithian Lighthouse. The design here is uber chic and stylish, and the cottage is very private. A super king-sized bed, 42 inch flat-screen TV, and a huge L-shaped sofa, Nespresso machine, and underfloor heating add to the usual comforts to take this property to the next level. Huge glass doors give you a sensational view of the ocean that will even come right up to the house at high tide! A rather exciting treat awaits under the lounge area; a glass floor looks down onto your private cave/ snug area – it would be hard to find a more romantic location! Based right on Bamaluz Beach in St Ives, you are a short stroll to restaurants, craft shops, galleries, and beaches. Private parking is included, and children and dogs are welcome at the property.
Moon Shadow – created from the shell of an old fisherman’s cottage is this fabulous space that somehow manages to perfectly fuse coastal style with an industrial modern elegance. Huge coastal landscapes, mirrors, and amazing wall textures make this cozy cottage a divine, romantic hideout. With a king-sized bed, underfloor heating, Nespresso machine, and 40 inch flat screen TV to add to the exceptional facilities you can expect with all Beachspoke properties. There is also a parking space provided. This one is just for couples, so no animals or small people! Situated within yards of the best surfing beach in St Ives in a thriving area known for its artist community.
Blue Moon – your blissful, chilled-out, cozy couples coastal retreat with just enough of a funky edge to know you’re staying in a Beachspoke property. A soft color palette of cooling blues and soft textures gives this property a relaxed, peaceful vibe. A deep-set sofa, 2 flat-screen TVs, a super king-sized bed, and a separate dressing room add to a generous list of amenities. Located adjacent to Moon Shadow, the property again includes a parking space – though this one is small! No children or pets are allowed here.
Harbour Moon – this is a stunning example of rustic done well; think rough granite, with walls clad in sea-worn wooden planks, rusty chains, and authentic shipping ropes. This stylish, very unique coastal cottage is in a prime position right on the harbor in the stunning Mousehole. A wood-burning stove, sea view shower, super king-sized custom-made bed, flat-screen SMART TV, Nespresso machine, underfloor heating, and separate dressing room all elevate the property from luxury to very special luxury. Clever use of glass ceilings and double-height rooms make this space seem even bigger than it is. This is another couples-only retreat so let someone else look after any pets and children!
Little Cottage – strangely named perhaps as it is the largest property sleeping 8 across 4 rooms! An architect’s dream, this is a sleek, modern beach house with an impressive list of facilities, my favorite of which has to be the outdoor hot tub! The property is located on Praa Sands between Helston and Penzance.
Beachspoke also has 2 properties in the Cotswolds that are well worth checking out.
Restaurants & Bars
All the cottages come with excellently equipped kitchens for when the mood to cook catches you. Of course, it would be a pity not to sample some of Cornwall’s delicious cuisine. Beachspoke recommends Alba for cocktails and The Black Rock or The Sloop Inn for dining, both in St Ives. When staying in Mousehole, The Old Coastguard is the place to go.
Activities
St Ives is a beautiful town renowned for its artistic community; meander its’ pretty lanes and enjoy the art galleries, deli’s, craft shops, and independent boutiques. Mousehole is a pretty fishing village between Penzance and Land’s End, well known for its scenic harbor. You are spoilt for choice for entertainment in this part of the world, be in golf, hot air balloon rides, fishing, sailing, surfing, or horse riding – all can be found on your doorstep. If relaxation is your priority, Beachspoke work with a local therapist who will offer a wide range of therapies delivered in the comfort of your very own holiday cottage. And then there are the beaches! No trip to Cornwall would be complete without time spent soaking up the beauty of their majestic coastline.
So if you want a real wow factor and total comfort in knowing you’re going to walk into a really special space, why not choose one of Beachspoke’s amazing properties – choosing which will be your only problem!
