Book A Stay

If the frantic pace of modern life has left you and your partner with next to no time for each other, then why not take some time out to reconnect at the Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort, perfect for anniversaries, honeymoons or just that long-overdue romantic break. The privately owned and family-run resort in Phuket, Thailand is the perfect base for exploring the south of Phuket. With the most authentically Phuket experience to be found in the south, plus the two most iconic attractions (the Big Buddha and the Chalong Temple), the resort is ideally situated. Flights with BA from London Heathrow typically have a brief stopover in Bangkok and take around 12 hours and 40 minutes.

Hotel
The Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort features 41 villas, a world-class Ayurveda Spa and an authentic Thai Restaurant and Wine Cellar, all surrounded by lush green tropical gardens. Beautifully positioned on a hillside with stunning views that take in 4 bays and numerous lush islands, the resort feels away from the chaos of popular tourism but yet still close enough to explore when you want to. The personal touch is apparent throughout, you really can tell that this is a privately owned resort that is family-run, the owners are always on hand to help and go the extra mile. There are some breaks away where you just don’t want to be surrounded by children, some of the romance of this beautiful resort is definitely maintained by the fact that it is an adult-only resort!

Villas
The 50 Villas are spacious and beautifully decorated with high ceilings and a natural, soft color palette, plus the furnishings are all designer. There are 6 varieties of Villa but all include private terraces or balconies, big rain showers and hand showers, a refrigerator and mini bar, International Cable TV with DVD player, free Wi-Fi, a separate living area and air conditioning. Another romantic touch is the lights are dimmable! For the ultimate romantic haven, I would definitely suggest a Royal Balcony Jacuzzi Villa. Featuring king-sized beds, a private Jacuzzi out on the balcony, and situated at the top of the hillside to maximize those stunning views, the cute factor of having his and hers sinks really got me!

Restaurants & Bars
The food at Mangosteen is primarily authentic Thai with a modern twist, accompanied by Mediterranean delights. Billed as organic, fresh, and healthy, the focus is on sophisticated but fun food. The Restaurant is the main establishment but if you fancy a change from the beautiful Al Fresco dining, the Underground Wine Cellar is a fabulous alternative (and available for a private dinner as well as for wine tasting events) – offering a secluded, romantic setting, plus of course some wonderful wines. Your private terrace or balcony can also become the most intimate dining location and in-room dining is the perfect romantic treat to really help you forget the cares of modern life.

Spa
The Spa is based on the healing and balancing practices of Ayurveda (the only Ayurveda Spa in Phuket). A wide range of treatments is available, including traditional Thai massage, Indian head massage, and foot reflexology.

Activities
The swimming pools are truly breath-taking, you could almost forget you’re not just swimming in the gardens themselves! The swim-up bar is an idyllic addition and it’s worth noting that the extra-long happy hour runs from 3:00 – 6:30 pm. The resort offers a range of classes, including Thai cooking, yoga, Batik classes, and free diving lessons. Ever wished you could fold your towels into those fun animal shapes that get left on your bed when you’re traveling? Well, now you can learn as the resort also offers towel folding classes!

Within easy reach of the resort, you can find the famous Big Buddha of Phuket, Chalong Temple, Seafood Market Rawai, Rawai Beach, Kata Beach, Nai Harn Beach, Promthep Cape Sunset Viewpoint, Kata Viewpoint, Elephant Trekking Camps and the Muay Thai Boxing Center. The Promthep Cape Sunset Viewpoint is the perfect romantic trip, offering great views of the island, you’ll feel as if you’re a world away from home. The hotel also offers a free shuttle service to nearby Nai Harn Beach, well renowned as being one of the best beaches in Thailand.

The Mangosteen Resort is the perfect place to indulge your romantic side. A calm peace descends as you arrive in this boutique paradise, allowing you to totally relax and leave your normal life far, far behind.

Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort also features in my best spa hotels in Phuket.
