Book A Hotel

British Airways has just launched its World Sale which is a cheap way to fly and to collect Tier Points to achieve Bronze, Silver, or Gold Status. Flights must be booked by 17 May 2016 and seem to be available a full year in advance (ie up to up to 27th April 2017) with plenty of availability at this stage if you are flexible on dates.

So that is on offer this time?
Flights to New York from £378 GBP return
Flights to Dubai from £342 GBP return
Flights to Asia from £470 GBP return
Flights to Lima from £539 GBP return
Flights to San Jose from £493 GBP return
Plus Flights to Europe from £36 GBP each-way

European Flight Offers
This sale is relevant to economy flights to Dublin, Madrid, and Berlin with one way costing from £34. There is more of a choice in Club Europe which includes £100 GBP one-way flights to Paris, Hamburg, Dublin, Madrid, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam. London Gatwick to Venice comes in at £112 GBP and most of these croutes come in with 40 tier points each way. Vienna, Menorca, Copenhagen, and Budapest come in at £125 GBP also with the same Tier Points.

This means that you can collect the 300 Tier points (320 to be exact) necessary for Bronze status with just 4 return flights to these destinations (and around £800 GBP spend).

Here are the British Airways European Sale Prices.

London to the Middle East On Sale
Flight prices to Abu Dhabi, for example, are very competitive at £348 GBP return in the economy, £1238 GBP in Business & £1838 GBP in first. These routings generate 140 tier points each way in business and 210 in First, so a return flight in Business will almost generate you the 300 Tier Points for Bronze (280 in fact so 20 points short) for an expenditure of £1,238 GBP. A return in First will wing you straight to Bronze (420 points in total) and partway to the 600 required to achieve Silver status.

London To USA On Sale
Starting at £371 GBP return in economy to Washington or Orlando, £1,469 GBP to New York in Business and £1,894 GBP in First, these fares are worth grabbing and offer 140 tier points in Business and 210 in First (same as Abu Dhabi) again flying you into Bronze with just one return trip in First.

The USA routes are however are the more expensive way to achieve Tier points in the above example. Here are the British Airways USA Sale Prices.

There are also Sales to Latin America including Barbados and Africa including Cape Town and the Maldives.

What is the cheapest way to earn Tier Points to Achieve Bronze, Silver or Gold Status?
Using the example above, booking 4 return flights in Club Europe is the cheapest way to achieve 300 Tier Points for Bronze (which you can secure for a spend of £800 GBP). Bronze can be achieved with 4 returns, Silver (600 points) 7.5 return flights or £1,500 GBP spend and Gold would require 19 return flights in Club Europe (& a spend of £3,800 GBP).
