Book A Hotel

Hyatt Regency hotels are a brand within the Hyatt hotel group that caters to all types of travelers and offers properties around the world, from city centers to airports, from Europe, across America (North and South), throughout Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Hyatt is one of the world’s best hotel brands, with a global portfolio of more than 500 hotels and resorts across 12 distinctive brands. We have reviewed the best Andaz hotels, the best Park Hyatt hotels, the best Hyatt Regency hotels. Other brands within the Hyatt portfolio include Alila, Hyatt House, Hyatt Zilara & Ziva, Hyatt Residence Club, Hyatt Place, and the Unbound Collection by Hyatt.

Hyatt Regency was one of Hyatt’s very first brands of hotels and resorts. It all started in 1967 with Hyatt Regency Atlanta. As one of Hyatt’s largest brands, it has over 175 Hyatt Regency hotels. Within Hyatt Regency hotels, you can enjoy modern spaces designed for sharing, socializing, and collaborating. Think spirited restaurants and bars, vibrant event venues, and their trademark atrium setting. Each hotel is distinct from the next.

Enjoy comfortable Regency rooms with regionally inspired artwork and spacious suites with residential features. Each has essentials like cozy couches, expansive workstations, and 65 inch TVs. Hyatt Regency guestrooms in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean also contain Hyatt’s Grand Bed. The hotel’s super comfy bed is a 13-inch-thick, pillow-top Sealy Posturepedic with 250-thread-count triple sheeting and a down duvet.

With food and drink available 24 hours a day across all Hyatt Regency hotels, take a seat at the lively bar or dine at the restaurant with a regionally inspired, seasonal menu. For something simpler, grab a snack anytime in the café-style Market, usually located in the foyer. Work out in the 24/7 gym, schedule a spa treatment, or relax by a sun-drenched pool. Hyatt Regency hotels offer all the facilities you could possibly need when you travel.

All Hyatt Regency hotels are great, but we have selected those which we think are the best in the world below:

1. Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa has it all. It was voted a Top 10 Most Popular Honeymoon Resort in Hawaii by Conde Nast Traveler, so we are not the only people who love it.

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is set on a beach and has a beautiful pool. The views across the Pacific Ocean, from communal areas and the rooms, are breathtaking. The club lounge is great, and it even has an alfresco club lounge area where you can sit and enjoy your complimentary food and drinks outside. The weather is almost always sunny on Maui in Hawaii, and there is a fun boardwalk behind the beach and in front of the hotel, where you can stroll or jog along and enjoy early morning fresh air or evening sunsets.

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is surrounded by 40 acres of immaculately landscaped oceanfront gardens. Being just 27 miles from Kahului Airport, transfers are easy and inexpensive, and it sits on the shores of Ka’anapali Beach on the west coast of Maui in Hawaii.

Once you are in Ka’anapali Beach, everything is on your doorstep. The beach laps up to the hotel’s grounds, and a beautiful pathway meanders along the beach, taking you right to the end, where tiki torches are lit on the cliff every night.

In the other direction, you can walk or take an open-air trolley bus to the historical and cultural whaling village of Lahaina. Here, you can shop, rest under the huge Banyan tree that sits in the center of town, or sit out and enjoy a glass of wine or some tasty seafood in one of the many cafes lining the streets. This is also a great place to pick up a snorkeling boat trip that will take you out to reefs in the clear waters of the Pacific, where you can swim with amazing and colorful fish.

The interior of the Hyatt Regency Maui is elegant and Hawaiian in style. There are a huge 806 spacious rooms, each of which includes private lanais. All the usual amenities you would expect from a five-star hotel are present. The main differentiating factor between the rooms is the view.

Club Lounge

If you book a Regency Club room (or are a Hyatt Globalist elite member, which will get you free access to all Regency Club lounges around the world), you have access to a private club lounge where continental breakfast is available as well as refreshments and snacks throughout the day and light hors d’oeuvres and desserts in the evening.

The Regency Club Lounge at the Hyatt Regency Maui is one of the best hotel executive club lounges in Hawaii. This lounge has recently been redesigned and moved to the lobby level of this hotel, which means that it now benefits from a large outdoor terrace with ocean views and the resort’s gardens. After all, this hotel is all about the outdoors. The grounds, the sunshine, and, of course, that beautiful Hawaiian golden sand beach.

Bearing jet lag in mind, it is useful that the Regency Club is open from 6:30 – 9:00 am for breakfast. Breakfast is usually a bunch of juices, all the usuals, a selection of cereals, pastries, muffins, bread, and a hot egg dish, as well as smoked salmon and sliced meats.

There are mid-day snacks, including nuts, fruit, and cookies, as well as soft drinks and juice. In the evening, there is a salad bar with loads of choice, along with meats and rolls, as well as snacks like cheese and crackers. Desserts are served later in the evening. There is enough to fill you up, but remember you will be paying around $5 USD for an alcoholic drink. Like most US Regency Club lounges, alcoholic drinks are not free.

Pool & Grounds

Probably one of the most magical features of the Hyatt Regency Maui is the stunning freeform swimming pool, which sits next to the beach. The pool is large and has a rock formation to one end with waterfalls that you can swim under. The pool also has waterslides for the brave, and if you want some adult time, there’s the adult-only pool.

Don’t leave without trying a Lei making class or a hula lesson and if you are a kid or young at heart. Another highlight is the penguins that live on the hotel’s grounds. For more action, the kids will love the kids club and the interactive children’s pool with the 25-foot water slide, leaping water fountains, and floating dolphins and turtles.

Food & Drink

The hotel also features an impressive 10 award-winning restaurants and lounges. They all offer something a little bit special, from a traditional Hawaiian lu’au experience to Asian-inspired cuisine with a Hawaiian flair at the award-winning Japengo restaurant. Our favorite is the fabulous cocktail bar tucked between the waterfalls. Or take the romantic route and request private Oceanside Dining with candles and champagne.

For me, Ka’anapali Beach is one of the most romantic places in the world. In the evening, as the sun sets, tiki torches are lit along the beachside pathways that light up the tropical gardens of each hotel. I can think of nothing better than strolling along that beach, watching the waves crash on the sand, and listening to Hawaiian music drifting out across the beach on the warm breeze.

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is an Award Category 6 World of Hyatt hotel, requiring just 25,000 points per night.

2. Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country

Centrally located in the heart of Sonoma County in downtown Santa Rosa’s historic Railroad Square, the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country has been redesigned and rebranded to a Hyatt Regency.

This Hyatt feels more like a high-end Park Hyatt than an all-you-can-want Hyatt Regency. The styling in the foyer is slick and stylish, with cream furnishings, thick oatmeal rugs, dark hardwood beneath, and all set around a magnificent fireplace.

The natural accents in the decor transition you smoothly out to the pool flanked with crisp white loungers. In the evening, under a grapevine-covered arbor, you can sip wine under the stars beside a 10-foot crystal fire pit. During the day, you can stroll and sniff the manicured floral gardens.

If you are heading to Sonoma, you must stay here as this Hyatt Regency is a gem in the Winelands. It is also just a short drive from vineyards, redwoods, and the beaches of Bodega Bay.

The Hyatt Regency Sonoma is a Category 4 World of Hyatt hotel, requiring just 15,000 points per night.

3. Hyatt Regency Hua Hin and THE BARAI

With a dreamy freeform pool and a golden sand beach Hyatt Regency Hua Hin and THE BARAI shares a beautiful stretch of beach.

Located in the Kao Takiap area of Hua Hin, which is famous for its royal legacy, beautiful beaches, and golf courses, Hyatt Regency Hua Hin is known for its recreational facilities, including the region’s most enjoyable array of swimming pools, a giant waterslide, and the award-winning THE BARAI Spa.

Three hours by car from Bangkok, Hyatt Regency Hua Hin, and THE BARAI are easy to get for families, romantic escapes, business meetings, conferences, or wellness holidays.

The cluster-style low-rise accommodations feature 213 luxurious rooms and suites with views of the tropical gardens, lagoon, or pool. Other facilities include large free-form interconnecting pools featuring three distinctive pool areas: a river pool with a unique waterfall and Jacuzzi flowing into the interconnecting lagoon pool and the free-form pool with a 22m long and 7m high water slide, plus there’s a unique beach pool for children.

Overlooking lush tropical gardens and the Regency Club swimming pool, Club Olympus provides the ideal environment to keep fit during your holiday with Life Fitness bicycles, treadmills, and cross-trainers, as well as a range of free weights, are available 24 hours a day. Alternatively, enjoy the steam room or outdoor floodlit tennis court.

THE BARAI is an award-winning destination Spa with 18 remarkable treatment rooms and 8 exclusive residential spa suites located on more than 4.5 acres of serene beach adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin.

The super luxurious The Barai, with just 8 suites, is actually a hotel within a hotel and is attached to Hua Hin’s Hyatt Regency. The resort looks a little like a Moroccan kasbah, with a magnificent spa reached via a long, narrow corridor with interesting light formations and decorative window columns. A central pool evokes a feeling of calm and wellness.

Each suite at THE BARAI comes with a personal butler. There’s also a palatial pool and a huge spa, one of Thailand’s most impressive. Book a series of three, five, or seven-day wellness programs designed to help guests tune out from stressful lives. Guests staying at The Bari can also use the Hyatt Regency’s facilities.

The Hyatt Regency Hua Hin is an Award Category 3 World of Hyatt hotel, requiring just 12,000 points per night.

4. Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort, Spa and Casino

Okay, I admit it, you may be seeing a pattern in my choice of top Hyatt Regency hotels in the world. My choice is very much skewed to those resorts with beautiful beaches and or pools.

Well, Hyatt Regency Aruba is no exception, with a white sand beach to die for and views from every window at the front of the hotel, across the almost luminous azure blue sea.

The Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino is a 12-acre resort situated right on Palm Beach in Aruba. The beach is superb and very calm and offers every watersport imaginable. Plus, there is a water slide for the kids and restaurants within walking distance.

Rooms here are your standard Hyatt fare with a tropical touch, but it is the rooms with a balcony overlooking the ocean that are the rooms and suites to pick. That said, the standard rooms at this hotel are usually peaceful, with only the parrots to wake you up.

Food in Aruba is fairly pricey, so it may be worth paying in cash or on points for Regency Club Lounge access at this hotel. The free breakfast in the lounge (except salmon, capers, a cheese board, fruit, bread cereal, and one hot egg dish) and filling snacks in the early evening, along with the range of free water, drinks, and snacks in the club during the day usually pays for itself. The food in the lounge is better than most Hyatt club lounges on American soil, and the view from the lounge down to the pools and beach is very special.

The luxurious ZoiA Spa features experiences for purification and detoxification, which are inspired by Aruba’s red mud and seaweeds. Four restaurants offer something for everyone; Sunday brunch at Ruinas del Mar is a must. At the casino, grab a hand-rolled cigar and shake the dice — and your hips, to live music. The hotel also has a casino with both slots and table games for adults 18 and up.

This Award Category 6 World of Hyatt hotel requires just 25,000 points per night.

5. Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort

Following on from Hawaii and the Caribbean, we have another beautiful Hyatt Regency in a tropical region of Asia and an ideal Hyatt Regency for vacations. If you want to laze around a pool, this is definitely one of the best Hyatt Regency hotels in Asia.

Hyatt Regency Phuket offers beautiful views overlooking Kamala Cove at the southern end of Kamala Beach. It is situated on a steep jungle-covered hillside, which is a good and a bad thing. It is hard work walking up the hill, but this climb is also good exercise! If you wait for the golf buggy to ferry you about the resort, the wait can be lengthy. The Hyatt Regency Phuket is around half an hour’s drive ($25 USD in a taxi) ride from Phuket International Airport (HKT).

While the Hyatt Regency Phuket is not directly situated on a beach, you can enjoy wonderful pools. By contrast, the Grand Hyatt Bali, which features in our best club lounges in Bali is a tropical Hyatt with a beach. Both hotels are gorgeous. The views are far better from the Phuket Hyatt Regency, and the brand is obviously different, too.

The 201 rooms at Hyatt Regency Phuket are nicely furnished with different layouts. Each one has a balcony or a terrace that is extremely private, and most have unobstructed views of the glittering Andaman Sea and its spectacular tropical sunsets. There are also 40 rooms with outdoor private plunge pools or Jacuzzis, and all rooms have marble bathrooms featuring a dual basin and a separate toilet.

One of the best things about this property is the amazing Regency Club lounge, which is considered by many to be the best Regency Club in the world and well worth paying to upgrade in either points or miles. If you are a Globalist, you get this lounge access for free. This club lounge features in our best club lounges in Phuket.

It is a large club lounge and has a beautiful private and exclusive infinity pool for club guests overlooking the bay. You can laze with a complimentary cocktail and take in the view as the sun sets over this private club pool!

Within this club lounge, you get a complimentary breakfast with both hot and cold items and made-to-order eggs and omelets. Evening hors d’oeuvres change every day, and there is enough food to piece together a full meal. There is a chef station outside serving hot food, which is generally rice, and rotating dishes such as Thai chicken curry or various meat. There is a small selection of Western desserts. With the evening hors d’oeuvre, the spirits, wine, and beer are also free.

It is worth mentioning that the buffet breakfast at the Pool House is excellent and better than the breakfast in the club lounge, with a good selection of international hot and cold items and juices. If you are a Globalist, this breakfast is complimentary and is a better choice than the club lounge breakfast. Otherwise, it costs around $20 USD per person if it is not included in your rate.

The Hyatt Regency has the largest pool in all of Phuket, surrounded by loungers or comfy cabanas overlooking the sea. There is also a spa and an unimpressive fitness center along with free, fast Wi-Fi and a Camp Hyatt Kids Club for children 4-12. A shuttle will take you to the nearby beaches of Kamala and Patong for a small fee. The latter can be very lively. It is worth booking an excursion to James Bond Island if you are a fan.

As mentioned above, the one thing that this hotel is missing is a beach. Kamala beach is a reasonable non-private beach within walking distance from the hotel, but as there is no sidewalk along the road and motorbikes fly along the road at great speed, it is not an easy walk. Alternatively, the hotel has a shuttle to take you there a few times per day.

The Hyatt Regency Phuket is a Category 3 World of Hyatt property, requiring just 12,000 points per night.

6. Hyatt Regency Kyoto

Japan’s ancient capital of Kyoto, with its 1600 temples and shrines, simplistic, manicured gardens, historic machiya (merchant-style) shops and homes, and artisans specializing in limitless traditional crafts, is a mecca for tourists from around the world. Business travelers also travel to Kyoto, home to the likes of Nintendo and Hewlett Packard Japan.

The Hyatt Regency Kyoto is located in Japan’s ancient and cultural capital. This superb five-story hotel is conveniently located minutes from the Japan Railway Kyoto Station but is set in the Higashiyama Shichijo district in the traditional cultural heart of Kyoto. A neighborhood that is also home to the Sanjusangendo Temple, the Kyoto National Museum, and many shrines and landmarks.

The hotel blends contemporary Japanese style with traditional design elements. Elegant bamboo trees provide a dignified entrance, leading to a mature, beautifully maintained Japanese garden with a waterfall and pond, dating back 850 years to the reign of Emperor Goshirakawa (1155-1158AD). This makes this Hyatt Regency easily the most historic Hyatt hotel in the world.

Each of the 188 guestrooms offers a comfortable and relaxed environment, combining traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern facilities. Natural colors mix with white oak wood and Japanese kimono fabric. All rooms are equipped with 32-42 inch flat-screen satellite televisions and high-speed broadband Internet access.

This Hyatt Regency Kyoto features innovative, stylish restaurants and bar, serving only the freshest and most authentic produce available from the local Nishiji market. The restaurants include an Italian Cafe, a steak and seafood Grill, and a Japanese restaurant and sake bar.

Modeled after a traditional Kyoto-style house, the Japanese restaurant is a highlight with an a la carte option, a Sushi bar, and a charcoal grill. It also features a bar, a private dining area, and a chef’s table.

The spa and fitness center features the latest fitness equipment, 10 spa treatment rooms, and personal training and wellness programs.

The Hyatt Regency Kyoto sits at the luxury end of Kyoto’s diverse accommodation scene. From budget and luxurious traditional ryokan to business hotels and upscale, modern Western-style boutique and convention hotels. In our opinion, one of the very best hotels to choose in Kyoto, Japan, is the Hyatt Regency.

The Hyatt Regency Phuket is an Award Category 6 World of Hyatt hotel, requiring 25,000 points per night.

7. Hyatt Regency San Francisco

The Hyatt Regency is your top Hyatt hotel choice in San Francisco. The Hyatt Regency San Francisco is located right on the waterfront with the California cable line in front. This means that the views are fabulous from this waterfront Regency, which makes it the best Hyatt in San Francisco.

The Hyatt Regency San Francisco is located in the Financial District by the Embarcadero BART station on Market and Drumm St. It is right across from the ferry terminal and is super accessible for public transport links. The hotel also has good dining options and a 24-hour fitness center.

Beyond the expansive Bay views and renowned world’s largest hotel lobby, you are brilliantly located in the city’s most celebrated hot spots and steps away from the iconic Embarcadero and Union Square.

Rooms are bright with floor-to-ceiling windows, many with an angle view of the bay and looking straight out at other buildings. In fact, there are 804 guest rooms in the hotel, all of which feature flat-screen TVs, iHome stereo systems, and coffee makers.

The Regency Club lounge is an absolute highlight of this hotel and is located in the former revolving restaurant, which is now stationary. It has recently been refurbished and is pretty stunning. It has muted lighting in the entranceway, the decor is oatmeal and browns, and the views are incredible. They look straight out across the bay from all sides.

Breakfast is good, but it ends quite early and can be busy, with bread, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, cheap cold cuts & salami, cheese, fruit, and oatmeal.

The buffet area has coffee, juices, and soda during the day and an honor bar at night, which is very cheap at around $2 USD for a beer and $3 USD for a glass of wine. During the evening happy hour, there is a decent amount of food, enough for a full dinner, with salads and warm pizza.

While the Grand Hyatt is also good, we think the Hyatt Regency is the best of the downtown Hyatt hotels, as the club lounge is so unusual, with incredible views and really nice decor. We also like the fact that the evening food offered in the lounge will fill you up.

This is a Hyatt Reward Category 5 hotel costing 20,000 World of Hyatt points per night and offers good value.

8. Hyatt Regency Kathmandu

The Hyatt Regency Kathmandu is a 5-star luxury hotel and resort in Kathmandu, set on 37 acres of landscaped grounds and created in the traditional Newari style of Nepalese architecture. These expansive landscaped grounds offer a peaceful break from the chaos of the city center streets. While not the best Hyatt in the world, this hotel is definitely the best Hyatt in Kathmandu and the best place to stay if you are visiting the city.

This beautiful hotel is located 4km from the Tribhuvan International Airport and 6km from the center of Kathmandu, which is both very cheap rides in a taxi. It is worth mentioning that Globalist World of Hyatt members get free taxi transportation from the airport to the hotel.

The hotel is also located on the road to the Boudhanath Stupa: the holiest of all Tibetan Buddhist shrines outside of Tibet and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which lies just a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

This Hyatt Regency is the best 5-star hotel in the city. There are few other international hotel chains in Kathmandu, making it the safest decision for international travelers with a guaranteed level of room and service.

The 280 rooms and suites feature lots of natural woods and offer views of either the Boudhanath Stupa or the lush gardens and the surrounding mountain ranges.

Facilities are fabulous, particularly considering this is Nepal. They include an outdoor swimming pool, children’s wading pool, steam sauna, indoor/outdoor whirlpool bath, fitness center overlooking the Japanese gardens with state-of-the-art equipment, and Club Oasis, a 1,400 sqm. urban spa, regarded as one of the best in Kathmandu.

You can hop on the complimentary scheduled shuttle services to the city, which goes six times a day, jog the 1.6 km jogging track play tennis, or spend your days in the Regency Club lounge. The food here includes breakfast and evening canapes and drinks. You have a choice of two complimentary red and two white wines and spirits. Food includes veggies and bite-size cold options, plus three hot options (chicken tikka, cheese tarts, aloo potato, etc.). More than enough to fill you up.

Beyond the club lounge, International cuisine is offered at The Café, Italian cuisine at Rox Restaurant, light meals at The Lounge, healthy salads at The Terrace, or a drink or cocktail at Rox Bar.

9. Hyatt Regency Mexico City

Hyatt Regency Mexico City is situated next to Chapultepec Park in the upscale Polanco, one of the most wealthy neighborhoods in Mexico City. Just to showcase this, there is a Rolls Royce dealership along with fashionable boutiques right next door. Perhaps not what you expect from Mexico City.

The hotel is located next to the National Auditorium and Auditorio Metro Station. The National Anthropology Museum, Chapultepec Lake, and the exclusive Presidente Masaryk Avenue are within a 10-minute walk. Perhaps more usefully, there are lots of great restaurants and trendy bars within walking distance, and the Bosque de Chapultepec and the city park are also only a few minutes away on foot. There is also an array of cheap street food on the hotel’s doorstep, so you will never go hungry.

While the hotel’s exterior is rather concrete and bland to look at, it could be an airport hotel. The interior is stylish and, in some parts, spectacular. Add to this the views, which extend across a beautiful green park to the urbanization of Mexico City in the distance, and you will find that this Hyatt Regency is one of your best hotel choices in Mexico city.

Elegant modern rooms, 3 on-site restaurants, and 2 bars offer smart contemporary décor and views of the city or park. The hotel’s Rulfo Paraje Latino serves the best of Latin-American cuisine. Teppan Grill offers teppanyaki-style grilled meat and seafood, while the sophisticated Yoshimi Japanese restaurant includes a peaceful Zen garden.

There is also an excellent Regency Club Lounge with a decent breakfast and an excellent pre-party vibe before a night out in Mexico City. Choose from complimentary alcoholic drinks, including red wine, Corona, and Herradura tequila, along with delicious snacks like smoked salmon, cold cuts, chicken on skewers with rice, and veggies, along with desserts like apple tart and macaroons. More than enough to fill you up!

This Award Category 3 World of Hyatt hotel requires just 12,000 points per night (17,000 for club access).

10. Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa

There are plenty of Hyatt hotels in Florida, including the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa which is located near Fort Myers. This is one of the best Hyatt Regency hotels in Florida if you have a family and are looking for a fun resort hotel to enjoy the sunshine.

If you redeem your World of Hyatt points here, you get a pretty good deal when compared to the actual cost in dollars of the hotel and resort. The appeal here for families is the 3-acre waterpark with five waterslides, floating the lazy river, taking the boat ride to a private island, rock climbing, and the kids club. There is a quieter and more sedate pool for adults to sunbathe and lounge, along with a zero-entry pool with a toddler-friendly small waterslide.

The boat trip to the private island is also fun. The boat ride is included in your room rate and goes once every hour and takes around 15 minutes to get to the island. You can pick up the
free shuttle to the boat or walk down a boardwalk through the mangroves.

Reach Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa is less than half an hour’s drive from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). This airport is served by United, Spirit, Frontier, Southwest, American Airlines, Delta, etc.

There is also a Regency Club lounge within the hotel that offers decent evening meals with plates of peeled shrimp and dips, loads of veggies and salad items, pasta, small canapes, cold cuts of meat and cheese, and desserts a little later. Desserts are cookies and a variety of chocolatey mousse dishes. You also get free drinks, including free alcohol, wine, and beer. Guests with Hyatt Globalist status get free entrance to this club lounge.

Breakfast includes muffins, bagels, smoked salmon, pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, orange juice, and sparkling wine.

This lounge is better than your average Hyatt Regency lounge, particularly for food, and the setting of this hotel is phenomenal for a Hyatt vacation in Florida.

This is a Hyatt Reward Category 5 hotel costing 20,000 World of Hyatt points per night and offers good value as one of the best Hyatts in Florida.
