Book A Hotel

Andaz Hotels are a brand of Hyatt with an individual and boutique feel. All Andaz hotels skew to the modern boutique design. We have selected those which we think are the best in the world.

Hyatt is one of the world’s best hotel brands, with a global portfolio of more than 500 hotels and resorts across 12 distinctive brands. We have outlined the best Park Hyatt hotels, the best Grand Hyatt hotels, the best Hyatt Regency hotels and the best Hyatt Centric hotels. Hyatt hotel brands also include Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Hyatt Zilara & Ziva, Hyatt Residence Club, Hyatt Centric, and the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Park Hyatt and Andaz are considered the group’s most luxurious brands. Park Hyatt hotels showcase a minimalist interior design that I love. Andaz hotels are boutique-style hotels that generally appeal to a younger audience of travelers.

Andaz Hotels are the rockstars of the Hyatt Group. Andaz is a Hindi word meaning “personal style.” This name celebrates every guest’s individuality and represents each property’s uniqueness. Each Andaz hotel is a reflection of that particular destination’s culture and pulls in elements of each destination. The hotels are often created within buildings with rich histories and locally inspired architecture. They absorb and share the neighborhood vibe with guests via the look, feel, and often music in the lobby lounge.

Guestrooms are individually designed and tend to feel more like flats, with imaginative interiors, artwork, and amenities. The complimentary mini-bar is a highlight and invites guests to taste local treats and non-alcoholic beverages.

Global in scale while local in perspective, Andaz hotels weave the sights, sounds, and tastes of their surroundings into each property for an experience that truly immerses guests in the eclectic culture of each local destination. Eighteen Andaz hotels are currently open: Andaz 5th Avenue and Andaz Wall Street in New York, Andaz San Diego, Andaz West Hollywood, Andaz Napa, Andaz Scottsdale Resort and Spa, Andaz Savannah, Andaz Maui at Wailea, Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, Andaz Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica, Andaz London Liverpool Street, Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht, Andaz Delhi, Andaz Xintiandi in Shanghai, Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor, Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere and Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills.

If you want additional, free loyalty style benefits on your next stay at any Andaz hotel, join World Of Hyatt and double up on your benefits by booking your stay through our luxury travel concierge travel agency which is a member of the official, Hyatt Prive. These benefits are relevant for stays at the most luxurious hotels in the Hyatt brand, including all Park Hyatt hotels, all Andaz hotels, some Grand Hyatt hotels, some Hyatt Regency hotels, and some hotels in The Unbound Collection.

1. Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere

We are so excited about this brand-new Andaz hotel! Andaz has just opened the boutique hotel, Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere, expanding the “Hyatt” hotel concept to Austria’s Capital and conveniently located at the Arsenalstraße 10, across from the Schweizergarten and within walking distance to the Vienna central station.

Following the hugely successful opening of Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor in Germany in the first quarter of 2019, the “Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere” opened at the end of April 2019 and is the second location for an Andaz branded hotel in this German-speaking region, aimed at urban Lifestyle-Lovers from foreign countries as well as those from Vienna and the surrounding area, who are interested in contemporary architecture, art, fashion and culinary.

The building-front of the Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere reflects the local architecture, while the atmosphere of the lobby lounge comes alive with typical music of the local area. Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere features over 303 rooms, all featuring pieces of art on the room walls, a 2,200 square meters wide conference area, 700 square meters of great ballroom, and also offers a fitness area, restaurant, eatery, and a stunning rooftop bar on the 16th floor, 60 meters high.

In fact, the food focus at Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere has an emphasis on consciously sourced ingredients and local artisans’ produce. Sample an enticing new destination for meat lovers at the main restaurant ‘Eugen 21’, drink in the views and cocktails at the rooftop bar ‘Aurora,’ which has an open hearth, DJ, and a unique view over Vienna, or rub shoulders with the local community at the eatery ‘Cyclist.’

Rooms are stylish here, and standard rooms start at 30m2 in size. Plus, you get a free minibar containing snacks and alcoholic drinks free of charge. You will currently find the following in this mini bar: Apple juice, still water, tonic water, local lemonade, Manner Schnitte (local sweets), and pumpkin seeds. The room itself is beautifully finished with Viennese fishbone parquet and artistic detailing, along with floor-to-ceiling windows, a stylish bathroom with a walk-in shower, and unique bath amenities from the traditional Viennese Saint Charles Apothecary.

Breakfast (which you get for free if you book this hotel via our luxury travel concierge) is a highlight, with a full buffet with hot and cold dishes. In addition, everyone can order something off the menu free of charge. My favorites include Austrian Eggs Benedict, Omelette, Avocado Toast, Porridge, Banana Pancakes, Waffles, and more. There is also free sparkling wine on offer every evening, along with homemade bread and spreads.

The best time to visit Vienna is from April to May or September to October when the weather is warm and sunny. Cultural must-sees like the Belvedere 21, the Palace Belvedere, and the Museum of Military History are only a stone’s throw away from Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere.

2. Andaz Fifth Avenue

One of the best Andaz hotels in the world is located in one of our favorite cities in the world. NYC. The Andaz 5th Avenue really is superb, with large rooms, friendly staff, and a great location. It feels so much more boutique than other hotels in Manhattan, so a stay here feels more homely and friendly than some of the larger hotels in the city, making it a great choice.

With 184 rooms, this hotel is a boutique when compared to the Grand Hyatt in New York, which is enormous. I prefer the boutique feel of the Andaz. The hotel is located in a 1916 building that used to be the worldwide headquarters for the fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger before becoming an Andaz hotel in 2010.

The hotel is located on 5th Avenue, though the main entrance is on East 41st Street, just across the street from the New York Public Library and Bryant Park. Other walkable attractions from this lovely hotel include the Empire State Building, Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, and Rockefeller Center. However, it takes around an hour to taxi from New York-JFK airport to the hotel and around half an hour from LaGuardia Airport (LGA). You have easy access to more than a dozen subway lines, too, which is ideal for exploring the rest of Manhattan and beyond.

The Andaz experience begins the moment you arrive through the bronze-colored doors of our midtown Manhattan hotel and are greeted by an Andaz Host. Have a drink in the bar downstairs while checking in via iPads. The whole experience feels very boutique, plus the welcome drink is a blessing and helps to pass the time while the process takes place. A really nice touch. Rooms are large loft-style rooms, spacious by Manhattan standards, and minimalist in design with a great bed. Rooms are between 322 and 404 square feet, but the high ceilings make them feel larger. Ask for a room as high up as possible, as there is some minor street noise in the lower-level rooms. The higher rooms have a superb view and a window seat so that you feel like you are sitting in your very own loft apartment. There are also 47 spacious suites that offer private balconies or landscaped terraces.

As usual with Andaz hotels, nonalcoholic minibar items were complimentary. You get a few cans of soda and plenty of water bottles. Snacks are a bag of crisps and a chocolate bar with nuts. There are two sinks in the bathroom and a great shower (again, usually for Andaz hotels, you usually need to book a suite to get a bathtub). Toiletries are from Brooklyn-based Apotheke.

There is a restaurant in the basement, “The Bar Downstairs and Kitchen,” which serves breakfast (free to Globalists or if you book via our concierge), lunch, light bites, and drinks in the evening. Breakfast is great with dishes including warm “Lemon Souffle Pancakes” with orange poppy seed syrup, “Huevos Ranncheros”, which are sunny side up eggs with black beans, avocado, salsa roja, cotija, cilantro, and corn tortilla. Two eggs any style with your choice of meat, hash browns, roasted tomato, griddled bread, Lobster and scrambled eggs, Avocado Toast, Egg White Omelette, as well as sliced fruit, greek yogurt, maple porridge, and bread and pastries including croissants, pan au chocolate, Zucker’s bagel with cream cheese, blueberry muffins and white or multigrain toast.

Rather than having a club lounge, this Andaz offers complimentary coffee and tea service in the lobby lounge daily and a complimentary happy hour with wine each evening. There is also a decent 24-hour gym in the basement.

The daily rate tends to start at around $425 USD at the Andaz 5th Avenue. The point award redemption cost is 25,000 World Of Hyatt points per night. Overall, whether you are a Hyatt fan or not, this is a great hotel option for New York City with a boutique and trendy feel. I love the loft-style suites with terraces. They are the highlight of this hotel.

3. Andaz Singapore

Andaz Singapore is surrounded by the historic Kampong Glam and Little India districts, the iconic Marina Bay area, and the Bras Basah Bugis arts hub. Aiming to be an extension of its surrounding neighborhoods, Andaz Singapore celebrates local culture with the aim for guests to arrive as visitors but to depart feeling like locals.

Andaz Singapore is the most modern Hyatt hotel in Singapore. It is in a more interesting location vs. the Grand Hyatt, which is further from the business district and the bayfront. The Grand Hyatt is located near Orchard Road, a major shopping district in Singapore, and the rooms at the Andaz are much nicer than the Grand Hyatt.

This Andaz sits in a modern building with hexagonal windows that look a bit like a glass beehive from certain angles and offers 342 guestrooms and suites, alongside dynamic dining and drinking concepts, a rooftop bar on the 39th floor, four meeting and event spaces, a fitness center and a stunning outdoor infinity swimming pool.

Rooms include a free minibar containing soft drinks, fruit juice, local drinks, local beer, and alco-pop. Toiletries are by La Bottega with the scent “Singapore Fusion #19”, a custom scent for Andaz Singapore with the combination of Indian Jasmine Sambac, Chinese Cedarwood, Malay Orchid, and Eurasian Clove.

Breakfast here is particularly good, with a western breakfast buffet served with a view at Alley on 25, the hotel’s restaurant situated on the 25th floor of DUO tower. The spread is international, with a continental section, live stations, and Asian sections. The Globalist breakfast benefit, along with our luxury concierge free breakfast benefit outlined below, applies. The restaurants also offer beautiful views of Singapore and an open kitchen.

Overall, this Andaz hotel is superb, with a high-quality physical product, very friendly staff, and great restaurants. Most rooms have great views of the city, and the rooftop bar offers 360deg views. For getting around, there is direct access to the subway (MRT) for easy access to other parts of the city. Worth noting that the only rooms with bathtubs are suites, so if you want a bathtub, you will need to book a suite.

4. Andaz Costa Rica Resort At Peninsula Papagayo

Nestled in a location that is second to none, where the Gulf of Papagayo meets the sapphire blue waters of Culebra Bay, Andaz Costa Rica Resort At Peninsula Papagayo Resort captures the native spirit of Costa Rica with its distinctive “Pura Vida” (pure life) philosophy. The breathtaking setting with a relaxing ocean in front of you and lush mountains behind.

Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort extends over a vast hillside with breathtaking views over the ocean and to the mountainous behind. The reason to travel to this Andaz Papagayo Resort is to bathe in infinity pools shaded by jicaro trees and framed by views of the cobalt blue bay.

The 153 deluxe vibrant yet stylish rooms become one with the lush natural vegetation found behind the resort. Rainforest showers open up to the balcony. Ask for a room on a higher floor if possible, as the view is beautiful! Other nice touches include a free stocked mini-bar, free Wi-Fi, and a flat-screen TV.

There are 2 cascading outdoor pools. The main infinity pool (complete with complimentary suntan lotion) overlooks the trees where monkeys pass by. Sit out by this pool in the evening and expect to see families of white-faced monkeys jump past in the trees, making their way down to the beach. There are also iguanas and lizards, hummingbirds and butterflies that are attracted to the flowers in and around the resort.

Spend the afternoon on one of two of the resort’s secluded sandy beaches. The Prieta Beach Club, which is about 15 minutes away by shuttle, is offered exclusively to the Andaz and Four Seasons guests. The black sand hotel beach is closer, shaded by trees with a drink and towel service, countless beach chairs, free kayaks, and snorkeling gear. The more active can play a spot of tennis, schedule some tee time on a championship golf course, or explore the lush natural trails through the coastal mountains in Rincón de la Vieja National Park, Marina Papagayo, and Palo Verde National Park.

It is worth mentioning that December to April is the dry season in Costa Rica, so you are guaranteed sunshine, but the landscape becomes more parched. From May to November, you may have to endure more rain, but the jungle is emerald green. Whenever you decide to visit, this Andaz Papagayo is stunning and has made it onto “The Hot List” of Conde Nast Traveller in the UK and USA and Travel + Leisures IT LIST- so it is not just me that thinks this place is rather special.

The Andaz Papagayo in Costa Rica will soon require 20,000 World Of Hyatt points for a free night, or if you are paying, it will cost you in the region of $600 USD per night.

5. Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, Hawaii

Awili Spa and Salon invite you to mix, blend, and entwine the purest elements of Maui into an experience that’s custom-tailored to you.

The Andaz Maui is probably one of the most popular Hyatt properties among those looking to redeem World of Hyatt points and among Globalist members looking for a special trip. At around $750 USD per night, this is also one of the most expensive Andaz in our feature. If you book an award redemption, the cost will be 30,000 World Of Hyatt points per night throughout the year (if you can find availability, this hotel can sell out). This is one of the more expensive point redemption Andaz hotels that we are featuring in this “best of” list.

6. Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills

With seemingly never-ending views over the urban landscape that makes up Japan’s most modern capital, the Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills is the latest lifestyle boutique in Japan.

Located in one of Tokyo’s oldest districts, the prestigious Toranomon area (which means “gate of the tiger”) was one of several key points along the outer moat of Edo Castle, the social and political center of Japan during the 1603–1867 rule of the Tokugawa shogunate. A number of such gates, or fortified bridges, as well as temples and shrines, were strategically placed in the capital to ward off evil spirits, and the tiger gate of Toranomon was one such symbolic protector. Historical landmarks such as the Atago Shrine, Zojoji Temple, and Hamarikyu Gardens, as well as traditional craftsmen’s workshops, remain in the area today.

This stylish hotel brings a ‘smart-casual vibe to this otherwise traditional country. The finishings are exquisite (even the lift is stylish), and yet, typical to the Andaz brand, the hotel remains full of character and inviting. The fun starts as you whizz up to the 51st floor to check in. From here, you will be taken down several levels and to your incredibly spacious room.

Room foyers are polished stone, and once inside, you are met by the main bed made up of crisp white linens and faces out to the enormous floor-to-ceiling window. A rather nifty grey sofa spans the window and is the perfect place to absorb the immense views. A wooden desk, a low table, and a leather armchair also furnish the room. Moss-colored carpeting, which reminds me of a Zen garden, covers the floor, while white wall panels evoke traditional Japanese partition walls. The rooms at this Andaz are unique, sumptuous, and very Japanese. From the elegant yellow umbrella to the traditional Japanese robes complete with sashes and slippers, you can not miss the local influence in the room decor. The bathroom is equally stylish with a huge Japanese tub, big enough to fit the whole family.

The Andaz Tavern is the main venue for breakfast, with soaring ceilings, immense views, and wonderful sculptures. There is also a relaxed Tavern Lounge bar for relaxed drinks and live music. For something even more special, the Andaz offers a Rooftop bar with an outdoor terrace, where you can sit and knockback sake (or cocktails if you prefer!) looking down upon the glittering city.

Cool off In the AO spa occupying nearly 15,000 square feet on the 37th floor and overlooking the Imperial Palace. Then try out the 20m swimming pool. It feels like you are swimming in the sky!

Andaz Tokyo is a true five-star luxury assault on the senses, the style, the scents, the art, and the views, but crucially is relaxed. You are welcome to dress as stylishly as your surroundings, but you will feel comfortable whether you do or don’t.

7. Andaz Delhi

In terms of dining, there is an array of locally inspired, thoughtfully curated dining and bar experiences. Eat Mindful at the modern European food hall: AnnaMaya, inspired by the vibrancy and flavors of India, or savor over 39 gin infusions at Juniper Bar, the first gin bar in India. Experience the pulsating Hong Kong vibe at The Hong Kong Club, the entertainment and dining destination specializing in Cantonese cuisine and live entertainment. Finally, guests can enjoy nutrition-dense flatbreads, wellness bowls, and healthy beverages at the newly opened bespoke eatery: Soul Pantry.

This has to be one of the most stunning and luxurious Andaz hotels that you can book for the region of $150 USD. It is worth the trip to India just to try it!

8. Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi

Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi is located just 15 minutes away from the airport and most key attractions, adjacent to ADNEC, and is featured in our best Hyatts in Abu Dhabi, Park Hyatt vs. Grand Hyatt vs. Andaz. The impressive 18º leaning building design stands much like a modern and more stable leaning tower of Pisa. The hotel part of the building begins on the 18th floor.

Hop into a taxi, and everything you need in Abu Dhabi is within around a 15-minute ride from Andaz Capital Gate, but the area around the hotel is more business orientated with a large exhibition center nearby. Taxis in Abu Dhabi are around $7 USD / 25د.إ AED each way into and out of the city center. The hotel is also located about halfway from both the city center of Abu Dhabi and the airport, making it a good choice for a flight stopover hotel or if you have an early flight.

There are also quite a few embassies, including the United States one, located in the immediate area. It’s also a stone’s throw from Grand Mosque, arguably the most important tourist spot in Abu Dhabi. The hotel is also conveniently close to Yas Island and its Ferrari World and water theme park.

The pool area is not huge but adequate for the size of the hotel, and it is on the 19th floor of the building. There are a few sunchairs around the pool, and there is a nice sunset view.

If you want a beach, pick the Park Hyatt. If you want a pool, pick the Grand Hyatt, as the Andaz Capital Gate pool is small but has a great view. Being 19 stories up, there is usually a breeze making this pool a sensible choice in the sweltering Abu Dhabi summer.

The rates at Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi for this high-end luxury hotel can be irresistible. When there’s an exhibition or conference, the hotel is pricy and busy. When there isn’t, you can get a great deal here. It can be super cheap!

9. Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor, Germany

What’s better than an Andaz hotel? A brand new Andaz hotel, and following its official opening in February, the Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor is the first Andaz branded hotel in Germany. Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor is the third Andaz branded hotel in Europe, and this particular luxury hotel offers guests a Bavarian-inspired experience. The hotel is located in the Schwabing district, the cultural hub of the city, and home to theaters, restaurants, and the renowned Englischer Garten.

Just as Munich combines new and old traditions, the interior design of Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor weaves in the heart and soul of the city. Guests can take in a video installation by artist Yves Petzner in the lobby. Stone and herringbone oak floors, luminous diamond-patterned ceilings, copper accents, and leather sofas all come together to emphasize the design style of Munich.

In a nod to the Englischer Garten, Munich’s largest park is located steps from the hotel. The meeting space area features a nature-inspired wall composed of vertically hanging plants. Additionally, the Andaz Lounge offers an authentic Bavarian feel, furnished with a “golden pretzel” – a seat made from a cast bronze alloy and produced by a local Munich art foundry.

The Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor features 277 spacious, loft-inspired suites and guestrooms that deliver breathtaking views of the city and the Alps. Every room has been thoughtfully designed with contemporary interpretations of Bavarian traditions. Locally inspired complimentary snacks and drinks fill the mini-bar in each room. Bath amenities in each guestroom are produced by La Bottega and Saskia Diez, an internationally renowned Munich jewelry designer.

The Lonely Broccoli is such a great name for the hotel restaurant, which celebrates the unique flavors of Bavaria by serving quality meat and using (almost) all parts of the animal. The menu offers a selection of prime cuts, grilled and slow-roasted meats, accompanied by local and seasonal produce. The open kitchen in the middle of the restaurant is accompanied by two long chef’s tables offering front-row seats to the culinary activities.

M’Uniqo, is the dramatic rooftop bar, one of the highest in town. It is the perfect place to socialize over botanical-infused cocktails, listen to live music, and take in a stunning panoramic view of the city and the Alps.

Bicicletta, the hotel’s coffee bar, serves artisan coffee and also offers fresh juices. Guests can enjoy their favorite beverage while sitting on unique bar stools shaped like bicycle seats. For a casual bite, guests can stop by Café M throughout the day for its deli menu.

With carefully selected, regionally inspired products and healing treatments, massages, body rituals, facials, and aromatherapy, every guest will leave The Andaz Spa, one of the city’s largest spas, feeling truly connected to the heart and soul of Munich. A spiral staircase connects the spa to the 15 foot (17 meters) swimming pool, along with an elevator that takes guests directly to the pool deck, where, on a clear day, guests can see as far as the Alps. Gym-goers can take advantage of the fully equipped, state-of-the-art, 24-hour gym.
