American Airlines First Class Snack Baskets have been “upgraded” much to the dismay of frequent fliers. The new domestic First Class morning snack basket will include: 180 Snacks Almond Rice Pops w/Cranberries (5); Java Up Caramel Macchiato Coffee Fueled Energy Bar (4); Peterson’s Sea Salted Mixed Nuts (5); Kitchun No-Grain-Ola Holy-Coco-Cacao (4); Rip Van Wafels Dutch Caramel & Vanilla Wafel (4); MadeGood Mixed Berry Granola Bar (5).
Described by one flyer as “highly processed sugar-laden bleached rubbish.” (HT: View From The Wing) the main failure of this basket is the lack of quality and variety as well as the removal of the beef jerky.
Also on April 10 a new premium cabin PM Snack Basket launches and will include: Angie’s Boom Chicka Pop Sea Salt Popcorn (4); Boulder Canyon Sea Salt Kettle Cooked Chips (5); Mrs. Thinster’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Thins (3); Peterson’s Sea Salted Mixed Nuts (5); Blue Diamond Hint of Sea Salt Mini Nut Thins (4); Kopper’s Milk & Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Bites (4); Love, Corn Smoked BBQ Corn Nuts.
Although I am not a fan of any of the products in this basket, the lack of beef jerky has caused an outcry. Personally, I would like to see a proper snack like the lunch served in British Airways Club Europe and pictured above. None of these processed snacks float my boat and I’m not alone!
