This trip report reviews our flight in a Delta One Business Class Suite on their A350, Detroit To Tokyo. Delta Air Lines first Airbus A350 departed from Detroit, bound for Tokyo-Narita. This inaugural flight of Delta’s new international flagship aircraft was heralded with “First Flyers Club” champagne toast and gifts for each passenger.

If you fly on Delta One, you immediately get airport club lounge access where you can eat or drink, work or relax. Travelling Delta One gives you complimentary access to Delta Sky Club® and SkyTeam® partner lounges around the globe.

What is it like to fly on Delta in their Delta One Business Class Suite?

The Facts:

Delta Air Lines is the first airline to offer an all-suite Business Class product. The suite is a smaller and less luxury (but more affordable) version of the popular Etihad A380 First apartments.

The Delta Air Lines Business Class cabin will feature 32 seats, split across eight rows. Due to its staggered 1-2-1 configuration, each seat will offer direct access to the aisles.

Which are the best Delta One Seats?

Window seats in odd-numbered rows are positioned right by the window and as far from the aisle as possible. Even-numbered seats are positioned next to the aisle and quite a stretch from the window.

This means the best seats are 7A, 7D, 5A, 5D, 3A, and 3D. In the center of the cabin, the following seats are further from the aisle, with armrests and tables in between the seat and the aisle. I would pick 5B, 4C, 3B, 2C, and 1B as the best seats in the center or the plane.

You would do better avoiding the seats right at the front and the back of the cabin, which is next to the toilets and cooking area.

Each Delta One Business Class seat will feature a sliding door that delivers total privacy and transforms the space into a fully enclosed suite. The new suite will also include storage compartments for shoes, headphones, and laptops, a universal power outlet and USB port, and an 18-inch in-flight entertainment monitor. For sleeping, the seat becomes flatbed which will be covered in a memory foam mattress and the airline’s signature Westin Heavenly bedding.

Passengers traveling on Delta One can expect meals with wine pairings by American sommelier Andrea Robinson. The TUMI amenity kits feature Kiehl’s Since 1851 skincare products which I rank highly- Kiehls have incredible hand cream. You also get pajamas on select flights.

I have also reviewed Delta Premium Select which is Delta’s Premium Economy product.

There are 306 seats in total on the A350 which also features larger windows and optimized cabin pressure, temperature, and humidity to help customers feel more refreshed after a long-haul flight. The aircraft is equipped with high-speed 2Ku internet connectivity, and customers will have access to free mobile messaging while on board through iMessage, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger.

What other planes offer the Delta One Suite?

Delta will offer the Delta One Business Class on their A350 on flights between the US and Asia and will be progressively retrofitting its B777 fleet with the new product. At this moment in time, it is only available on their A350 planes.

The routes that these planes will be flying include Detroit to Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Amsterdam & Shanghai plus Atlanta to Seoul.
