Japan’s Shiki-Shima is an exclusive Japanese sleeper train which can transport just 34 passengers. This magical train embarked on its maiden voyage on 1st May when it departed from Tokyo to take a tour of north-eastern Japan.

The cost of a ticket on this Iconic train is from £2,300 GBP which includes a two-day journey stay on the train, where you travel in double-storey suites. There are two sleek glass-walled observatory coaches offering uninterrupted views of Japan’s forests, fields and coastline, a lounge with its own piano bar and a dining car with a Michelin-starred chef.

Passengers who have managed to book a ticket will be travelling on two- to four-day itineraries around eastern Japan, the experience is closer to a luxury hotel on wheels than normal train.

The Shiki-Shima is already fully booked until this time next year.
