For a holiday with a difference; an exotic, deserted location with lots to see and do, or the option to simply relax and soak up your surroundings, the Masira Island Resort on Masira Island, Oman’s largest island is unlikely to be quite like anywhere that you’ve visited before.

Location

Masira Island lies 15km off the southeast coast of Oman and appears like a jewel amid the azure waters. This is a little-known adventure travel hotspot with kite-surfing, sport fishing, diving, and snorkeling among the most popular activities. The island is known for its wildlife and miles of isolated sandy beaches as well as being famous for its turtles – it has the largest population of Loggerhead Turtles plus four of Oman’s nesting species of turtles. The island can be reached via ferry from Shannah; direct flights from London to Muscat take only 7 and a half hours and then a 4-hour drive brings you to the port of Shannah.

Style & Character

The beautiful boutique resort is set right on the beach with little surrounding it other than the sea views which makes it feel wonderfully exclusive. Inside it is luxurious and classy and looks very authentically Omani.

Service & Facilities

The excellent range of facilities include a resort wildlife museum, an outdoor swimming pool, and a temperature-controlled Jacuzzi surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, a large fitness center, children’s play area, basketball, tennis, and beach volleyball, and a meeting room. The service is great here, friendly and efficient, they are always on hand with a local recommendation or just to make sure that you are comfortable and have everything that you need.

Rooms

There are just 22 well-appointed rooms, suites, and chalets at this intimate resort. All offer breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea, private balconies, and easy access to the pool and beach. The facilities in all rooms include satellite TV with international channels, mini bar, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, safe and ensuite bathroom. Choose from Deluxe Rooms on the ground floor or Premier Rooms on the first floor, both at 40 m². Or treat yourselves with an Executive Suite, worth it for the 80 m² of space, with separate living rooms and extra full-size bathrooms in addition to the ensuite. If you’re bringing your family, or just like your space, the Chalets are perfect; 121 m² of space to call your own, with a separate living room and a kitchenette as well as a dedicated parking area.

Food & Drink

The Dhow Restaurant is the main restaurant here and faces the beach allowing you to make the most of those views while you dine. It serves all-day dining starting with a buffet breakfast and ending with an a la Carte international menu, which features a selection of freshly and locally caught fish dishes, don’t miss the pool-side barbeque too! For exotic cocktails and sumptuous finger food, the Sanctuary Bar is the place to go, it has a chilled-out, cozy atmosphere. The Oasis Bar is well-known as the best spot on the island to watch your favorite sports while enjoying a relaxed meal and a drink or two.
