Receive complimentary breakfast at Luxury Hotels

Delta Air Lines is bringing back complimentary meals in economy class or “coach” to its transcontinental routes between JFK and Los Angeles and San Francisco. Ironically this is happening at the same time as British Airways cancels their free food in Euro Traveller economy class.

The press release says:

Last month this introduction was tested with passengers being offered the choice between a smoked turkey sandwich and a veggie wrap.

This is a refreshing progress for airlines who mainly seem to focus their attention on their big revenue generators- the premium cabins. Delta has also recently upgraded it’s seats in business class. United has launched Polaris Business Class which means better bedding, seat and food as well as direct aisle access. American Airlines has also launched the “Super Diamond” Business Seat.

Delta is currently the only American airline to provide free food on transcon flights but if this offering means that more travellers choose to travel Delta, we hope that the other airlines will follow suit..
