For a city so filled with art, design and striking architecture, a design apartment is the perfect choice of accommodation on your next trip to Barcelona. Here at Luxury Travel Diary we love when new innovations hit the luxury travel market and Sweet Inn brand themselves as “The New Travel Concept” which got us excited! Their properties offer the perfect mix of a hotel and an apartment; so, all the services that you would receive when staying in a hotel but also with the freedom to have your own space and come and go as you please. Their apartments are in prime locations across major cities around the world and all have a design flair. Luxury is key to them and finishing touches such as high-quality linens, sumptuously comfy beds, boutique amenities, complimentary Wi-Fi, Nespresso machines, fluffy towels and a personal host are common place. None of the apartments are private homes, so you are not ‘sleeping in someone’s bed’ and whichever apartment you choose it will be cleaned and maintained to Sweet Inn’s incredibly high standards. They are also happy to arrange other services to ensure your trip is as hassle free as possible, so airport transfers, grocery shopping, laundry and housekeeping can all be arranged for a fee. I’ve selected my favourite design apartments in Barcelona from Sweet Inn’s fabulous range to give you a little taster of what’s on offer…
Royal Rambla Catalunya
You really can’t get a more central location than this fabulous design apartment, situated right on the corner of Rambla de Catalunya in the very heart of the city. The apartment feels like a trendy loft; spacious, open plan and stylish. The living and dining area is light and airy with huge doors and windows, a beautiful beamed ceiling and a large library wall. One of my favourite spaces would definitely be the quiet terrace, overlooking the rest of the neighbourhood, it’s a great spot to relax and watch the world go by. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Perfect for a small group, the apartment can sleep up to 5; just get there before your friends do as one of the bedrooms has a magnificent dressing room so be sure to reserve this one!
Plaza España Fira II
Ultra-chic and trendy, this apartment is decorated with a monochrome colour palate accented with an occasional burst of colour. It’s ideal for a group of 4 but can fit up to 5 and is situated in picturesque Plaza España, close to the centre of Barcelona with public transport links nearby. As well as two bedrooms, there are two bathrooms and an open plan kitchen and living space, plus there’s also a charming balcony. The apartment also has air conditioning and a flat screen TV with cable.
Urqui City Center
This 100 m2 beautiful apartment is in an 1875 building that was recently refurbished. The finished result is stylish and very modern with a funky vibe. For me the beauty of this apartment is in the details; think oversized black boards, amazing lighting throughout and some fabulous modern artwork on the walls. It’s situated in a very central location; you are just a 5-minute walk from Plaça Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia and Las Ramblas. The apartment can sleep 6 across two bedrooms and making use of a sofa bed. There are also 2 en-suite bathrooms, a spacious living space and fully equipped kitchen. Amenities include digital TV in the living room and both bedrooms, DVD player, Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
Villa Olimpica Mediterranean
Celebrating Barcelona’s Olympic past, this apartment is tastefully themed with a nautical, beachy feel. The sea views from the balconies have to be one of my favourite things about this apartment, it really reminds you that, although you’re in a city, you’re in a city by the beach! There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and the apartment can sleep up to 8. There is also a spacious living and dining area and a kitchen with a breakfast table with huge floor to ceiling windows that, again, highlight the spectacular sea views. Situated right next to Port Olimpica, a sought-after area of Barcelona that retains the legacy of the 1992 Olympic Games, the luxury marina, green parks and sandy beaches are the perfect complement to the busy city.
Gaudi Avenue
The key to the influence for this design apartment is in the name! It situated in Eixample, right next to one of Gaudi’s most famous and most celebrated masterpieces: La Sagrada Familia and this is reflected throughout; wonderful images of the cathedral can be found all over the apartment. The stylish property is simply huge! Great for a large group, it can comfortably sleep 8 across the 4 bedrooms. There’s also 2 bathroom, a living and dining room and fully equipped kitchen.
Next time you visit the glorious city of Barcelona, rather than staying in the usual hotels, why not try a design apartment from Sweet Inn; take all the bits you like about staying in hotels, but just add in a bit more space and a bit more freedom – only problem will be that with their range of apartments, you’re rather spoilt for choice!
