Where better to spend time with family than tucked away in a beautiful, authentic Italian villa. The stunning 17th century Villa Campo Verde can be found just over an hour north of Rome, near Spoleto, in the medieval village of Eggi. The villa has 10 bedrooms and can sleep 20 making it perfect for large family getaways, be it for a special occasion or just because. Flights to Rome from London only take 2 and a half hours so before you know it you’ll be bathing in the pool overlooking the breath-taking views catching up with your family.

Villa
This is an authentic Umbrian experience; a 5 year renovation project has taken this fabulous historic building and made it into a beautiful home. It’s a charming, rather magical place with lots of stairs and hidden nooks and crannies, there’s even a tower which provides a rather unique sun-bathing spot! The property includes 10 bedrooms, 7 of which are suites, 9 bathrooms, a huge modern well-equipped kitchen with a traditional Umbrian ‘alla brace’ cooking fireplace inside and a BBQ outside, plus 3 reception rooms, dining room, private pool and secure parking inside the gates for 8 to 10 cars. For a winter visit, there is under-floor heating and several large fireplaces. The hillside grounds of the villa are rather sensational; with its own private garden, orchard, plus an enclosed courtyard to the east and a split level terrazzo which overlooks the pool to the west. You are surrounded by beautiful Italian countryside with olive groves, fruit trees and flowers. As well as the ideal family hideaway, the villa can be used for weddings, cooking schools, culture tours and even wine tasting takes place here! The team are friendly and very helpful – their tips about the local area are invaluable.

Regarding the recent earthquake and after-shocks in Umbria please rest assured that this property renovation was relatively recent and the architects made sure that everything needed to withstand such events was factored into the equation.

Rooms
The suites generally come with either twin beds or a double and can also house an additional single bed if required. Two of the suites area interconnecting with a shared bathroom; ideal for family members with small children. Of the 9 bathrooms, 2 feature baths while the rest have showers. There is a rustic feel with exposed brick and beautiful character features throughout.

Dining
The villa is very well set up for self-catering but if you fancy a lazy night (and on holiday, who doesn’t!) catering can be provided for a charge. Local restaurant recommendations can also be provided by the team if you wish to dine out.

Pool & Activities
The large swimming pool has both a paved terrace and wooden decking and provides the perfect focus for relaxation for your group. You are surrounded by such beauty and culture that just demands to be sampled; this is a very traditional Italian area which allows the visitor a very special experience. Umbria is proud of its food and wine heritage and it’s easy to see why – truffles and wine are among their most celebrated and a trip to the region simply must feature these heavily! The nearby ancient city of Spoleto includes several historic sites, perhaps most notably a well-preserved Roman theatre. The towns of Montefalco, Assisi, and Spello can all easily be reached from the villa and are well worth exploring.

Insider Info
Try to get there first and pinch the large room on the top floor, it offers fabulous views across the valley!

This is a real home away from home experience, in a quirky character-rich Italian villa and the perfect place to reconnect with family and make new memories together.
