Plaza Premium are opening an independent “paid for” airport lounge in Heathrow Terminal 5 which I will review when it opens in late 2016/early 2017. This follows the launch of the airy and spacious Plaza Premium Lounge in the departures of Heathrow Terminal 4 last June (pictured above),  and the Aspire Airport Lounge in Terminal 5 which we have already reviewed (& like very much!).

Before these two independent lounges, the only lounges available in Heathrow T5 were the best British Airways airport lounges. To gain access to these you need to be a British Airways premium member or to book into Club or First.

You will be able to gain access to the Plaza Premium lounge in Terminal 5 with credit card affiliate lounge pass schemes like Priority Pass. Or you can join Priority Pass directly. You will also be able to pay on the day to access this lounge or pre-book directly on the Plaza Premium website, the same as at the Aspire airport lounge in Terminal 5. Prices will come in around £35 GBP for 2 hours.

Review Of Plaza Premium Airport Lounge In Terminal 5
Judging by the Plaza lounge in Terminal 4, the Terminal 5 lounge will be stylish and contemporary. The Terminal 4 lounge has a particularly good offering, with a kitchen area with a live cooking station, a decent buffet offering and a selection of Asian and European inspired dishes. There are also productivity pods for those looking for peace and quiet and separate bar area. I would expect the Plaza Premium lounge in Heathrow Terminal 5 to offer similar. The capacity of the new Plaza Premium lounge will be 200.

So to the question, which is the best independent airport lounge in Heathrow Terminal 5? I love the Aspire lounge and I will review the Plaza Premium Lounge as soon as it opens. I will then report back on which is best. The Aspire lounge is airy, boutique in size, with a very good food and drink offering. In my opinion, it will be hard to beat.

I found out about the launch of this lounge from HeadforPoints.com which is a valuable bible of Avios offers and travel advice.
