3. The Pines: Phang Nga

Spilling onto the sands, The Pines is a secluded, beachfront villa that combines a modern rustic architectural style with barefoot living on Phang Nga’s pristine western coastline. Lavish use of Burmese teak wood as a building material gives it a warm and earthy vibe, not taking away from the shimmering sea views, which are justifiably the highlight of the villa.

Divided into five Thai-style individual living sections, each of the villa’s five bedrooms enjoys privacy, either set within its own pavilion or with a separate entrance. Enjoy sea views from your bedroom or simply by stepping out onto the inspired pool deck or directly onto the sandy beach.

The main living area deserves to be featured in design magazines, with high wooden ceilings, a long breakfast bar on one side, and a dining table taking center stage. The front wall is entirely made up of sliding glass doors that lead to the pool deck and can be pulled back on breezy afternoons or shut for air-conditioned comfort. The living space on the right side has elegant seating and design touches, such as an artistic curved floor lamp.

Thai hospitality at its best, you will be greeted warmly by the villa team when you check-in, and they will take care of your every need during your stay. The chef is a magician in the kitchen, and the Elite Concierge can arrange for activities in and around the villa, such as stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, kayaking, and village tours.

5. Arnalaya Beach House: Bali

Arnalaya Beach House is a masterpiece of contemporary beachside design set in tropical gardens with a private tennis court, gym, and spa that entwine to create the ultimate destination for surfside living.

Architectural genius Sonny Chan collaborated with interior design guru Albano Daminato to fashion a five-bedroom residence with a stand-alone gym and spa plus a game-changing entertainment bale overlooking the Indian Ocean. This is a serious party zone with its own kitchen, barbecue, and seating for more than a dozen people. With the ocean just meters away and a shimmering 20-meter salt-water pool by its side, this open pavilion is the last word in outdoor dining, and your private chef is ever on hand to produce the ultimate gourmet feasts.

In the main house, bedrooms have gorgeous sculptural terrazzo walls and clean lines that contrast with stylish canopied beds and sitting areas. Villa Sapi is crazily futuristic. Combine a Thunderbird house design with a futuristic house from Copenhagen, and you might come close to the unusual look of this gem of a hideaway.

This six-bedroom oasis is bordered by the pure white sands of Sira Beach with a backdrop of soothing seas, soaring peaks, and sensational sunsets. With contemporary architecture, three swimming pools plus a children’s pool, a stand-alone two-bedroom guesthouse, a tennis court, exemplary service, and gourmet cuisine. 7. Villa Seascape: Nusa Lembongan, Bali

I particularly like Villa Seascape. The pool is designed in sandstone that looks like sand giving the whole area a barefoot desert island feel. Add to this, the cove that you can walk down from this villa is just picture perfect.

Villa Seascape can be found on Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali. This fabulous five-bedroom villa enjoys a rare beachfront setting on the edge of a small cove. Across the bay, ocean rollers send dramatic spumes of spray high above the headland, Devil’s Tear; at night, the lights of Sanur glimmer on Bali’s mainland 12 kilometers away across the Badung Straits.

Designed by Bali-based Italian architect Valentina Audrito, noted for her playful use of space, Villa Seascape offers an extraordinary variety of living areas, orbiting a double-height living room that spills onto a poolside entertainment terrace with access to the beach. The interiors are thoroughly contemporary, with chic minimalist furniture in cool aqua colors resting on polished pebble floors, warmed by the creative use of bamboo, teakwood, terrazzo, and shell. Except for the master bedroom pavilion, privately tucked away in the garden behind, every room in the villa enjoys spectacular ocean views.

This elegant villa promises magical experiences for families and groups of friends seeking luxury living and a laid-back vibe in a blissful beachfront setting. Daytime, recline in the pool’s shallows or on an oversized beanbag on the terrace, then convene at the pool bar for a light lunch served by the ever-attentive butler. Take an afternoon siesta on the suspended, netted-floor mezzanine, or draw the blackout curtains in the media room and languish on the gigantic floor cushion in front of a good film. Enjoy a dazzling sunset around the fire pit or a cocktail at Sandy Bay Beach Club, a minute’s walk along the beach. before tucking into a beachfront barbecue or gourmet meal prepared by the talented villa chef. After such a day, the supreme comfort of your suite and a blissful night’s sleep awaits.

Guests arriving in Bali late afternoon or evening should arrange overnight accommodation in Sanur and ferry transfers to Nusa Lembongan the following morning, as sea crossings after 5:00 pm are not recommended. A complimentary buggy will meet guests at Mushroom Bay on Nusa Lembongan for transfers to the villa.
